Charlie's POV

A few days later I get an e-mail from Marky with an invitation to a semi-official party as he calls it to promote the new store they opened which is also a get together of his friends and as I now work for the company as well he would be very happy if I could come.

I like parties so I am looking forward to it, as I have learned that Marky is friends with a lot of musicians and I think there will be a lot of famous people there.

The only problem is, I am pretty sure I will see Alex together with his girlfriend. But I guess this should be more his problem than mine.

As I arrive that night at the address I was given I am surprised that it is not a shop in a business complex as one would imagine but a sort of beach cottage that was transformed into a cool and stylish store. That is so awesome.

There are a lot of cars already parked along the road and you can hear music and voices from inside. I walk up the front steps onto a porch and am about to grab the door handle when someone from inside pulls the door open.

Of course the first person I run into tonight is Alex. Just my luck.

Alex's POV

I opened the door and must have looked at her like an idiot.

She wore a simple grey dress that hung loosely from her shoulders and barely reached her mid thigh. Her hair was untangled and flowed around her face in big golden curls. She had only little makeup but that made her eyes shine even more.

I looked her up and down. "Why are you barefoot?" I asked her instead of a greeting and bit on my lip. Why do I keep doing this around her? I always sound like mad man.

She laughs silently and just answers. "I had no shoes that go with the dress. Hello Alex, nice to see you too."

With that she walks past me and starts to curiously take in the room and the people.

I go back to where Lisa is standing deep in conversation with some friends, I smile at her and put an arm around her shoulder.

Still I can't stop watching Sharky, she walks around and Marky comes up, greets her and introduces her to some other people.

Maybe I should have done that. I am so awkward sometimes and I hate myself for it.

Then Jack sneaks up to her and hugs her from behind. She turns around and seems genuinely happy to see him. He pulls her off to meet Zack and the three of them hit it off, drinking and laughing playing some stupid party game. Jacks hands are all over her and she doesn't seem to mind.

When Jack walks to the kitchen to get more drinks I follow him and stop him at the door grabbing his shoulder turning him around.

"Back off, Jack" I warned him harshly. "Leave Sharky alone"

"What? Why? What did I even do?" He whined.

"She is my friend and I don't want you to play her and hurt her." I looked at him sternly.

"Who says I would play her, I really like her, Alex." He started to argue.

"Jack, just do it, okay?" I hissed impatiently I didn't want to discuss this. I gave him a warning glance and turned away before Sharky would see us.

Then the cover of the song 'no diggity' came on.

I always thought it was a cool tune. And my head started bopping to the slow beat and that's when I saw her.

She stood close to the speakers and started to dance on her own. She stretched her arms over her head causing the dress to get even shorter, her eyes were closed and she swayed her hips in perfect synchronicity to the groove, a smile on her face. Her whole body moved with the rhythm.

I hate when girls do the slutty dance to show everyone how good they will be in bed. Trying to turn on every male on the dance floor.

But you could see Sharky was totally engulfed in the music, she was unaware of her surroundings, still in her innocence this was probably the sexiest thing I have ever seen.

People started to notice, moving away from her to give her more space.

Jack looked at me totally pissed from the other side of the room.

I stared at her while I was mouthing every word of the lyrics, becoming truly aware of them for the first time. It was as if this song was written for us.
......
By no means average
She's on when she's got to have it
Baby, you're a perfect ten, I wanna get in
Can I get down, so I can win
I like the way you work it
No diggity, I got to bag it up, bag it up
She's got class and style
Street knowledge by the pound,
Baby never act wild
Very low key on the profile
Catching feelings is a no,
Let me tell you how it goes
Herb's the word, spin's the verb
Lovers it curves so freak what you heard
Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo
Damn, that girl looks good

When I was finally able to look away from her I noticed that some other guys stared at her as well. Fuck.

Over in the corner I saw Austin Carlile and Alan Ashby leaning against the wall looking at her and exchanging words. Austin gave Alan his glass and pushed away from the wall and started walking towards her.

He touched her lightly on the shoulder which made her jump a little and she opened her eyes. He whispered something in her ear and she looked at him and smiled sweetly.

Without being aware I must have been moving towards them because I realised I was only feet away from the scene by now.

I made a couple of more steps and grabbed her by the wrist saying to Austin "excuse us a moment, we have to talk" and with that I turned around practically dragging her behind me.

Charlie's POV

I had fun at the party.

When I heard one of my favourite songs come on I started to dance, forgetting everything around me.

Someone touched my shoulder and I opened my eyes startled.

It was Austin Carlile, he bend down and whispered in my ear. "Princess, you look like the girl in this fairytale. I forgot her name, but she collected the stars that fell from heaven in her dress. Can I get you a drink?"

I smiled at him but before I could answer someone grabbed my wrist and I hear Alex's angry voice "excuse us a moment" and he pulls me along out the back door into the dark backyard where he leans against the outside wall still holding my wrist.

I stand beside him doing nothing because I don't know what's going on when he pulls me close to him turning us so I am pressed to the wall and he stands in front of me.

"Sharky, please don't do this to me" he says resting his forehead onto mine.

"Do what?" I know what he refers to but I need him to understand how I feel. "Having fun? Is that's what I am not supposed to have?"

"No! no, that's not what I mean" he groans in frustration "Sharky, I know I have no right to tell you what to do, but please... I can't watch you with those guys." He utters a sound that is nearly a sob and hides his face in my hair.

"How do you think I feel watching you and your girlfriend? Alex, I am not a teenager anymore, do you think stealing a few kisses in the dark is all I want from you?" I say holding his face in my hands to look at him.

Suddenly he presses his hips towards me and I can feel him getting hard, he takes my jaw and tilts up my head to kiss my lips hungrily. His hands slip under my dress and caresses my hips and waist.

He shivers with every touch and starts to breathe heavy.

I push him away and turn to leave.

"No Alex, don't. Just don't." I can't say more because I am struggling so hard not to give in to the sensation he has caused.

I need to get away from here before he can see me crying.

Alex POV

When she is gone I hit my fist against the wall. Why am I such a fuckup?

I just can't control myself when I am that close to her. I can understand why she hates me.

It's no use chasing after her now, so I go into the kitchen to get as much alcohol into me as possible.

I walk past Lisa without noticing until she asks. "Alex where have you been, I was getting worried is everything alright with you?"

"Yeah, it's all good" I say and then I grab a bottle of Jack Daniels and sit on the outside steps and begin to gulp as much down as I can.

Jack comes out, sits beside me and takes the bottle for a swig. "She left with Austin" he informs me sounding pissed off.

Exactly what I wanted to hear right now. Fuck. I am so done with this night.

Notes

Just a little filler that shows a bit more of Alex's thoughts.

Nooo, it's over. :-( This was a really sweet story. I loved watching Alex and Sharky's relationship grow. Hopefully you'll consider a sequel so we can see how married life treats them. Well done!

Aww... it's over! :( That kind of threw me off a bit, because in chapter 35, you said there were three chapters left, so I was expecting another after this. Unless there's an epilogue? Maybe you just changed it where it was only two, that's okay as well, lol. Wasn't prepared to say goodbye to it yet though.
A few things to note with this final chapter:
I hear Jack behind me snicker and just then realise that the organ did not intonate 'here comes the bride' but a somewhat churchy adaptation of our song 'Cinderblock Garden'.
I believe instead of the word "intonate" you may have meant "initiate." Looking up the definition for intonate, it deals with the rise and fall of pitch of voice. That doesn't really make sense when you're talking about an organ, lol. Whereas initiate would make sense because it would be saying that it started up the song. Also, realise should be realised; tense was off there.
And I was a bit confused with the date at the end... 2011? Yet Cinderblock Garden wasn't released until their album in 2015. Unless you wanted to change that entirely for the story? But up until this point, I thought it was set at the very least in 2015, if not present. I'm not really sure why you would want to throw off the music dynamic, though.
However, I did think it was cute how their wedding was on May 4th! Too perfect, and I'm very surprised Alex actually didn't try that in real life, lol. :P
But other than those two things, thought you did a great job on this chapter and the story overall! I really enjoyed it, and hope that you continue writing, because you really have a knack for it. Interested in seeing any new ideas that you come up with for new stories. :)
Gonna miss this one. Sharky and Alex are just <333, perfect.

lol, ohh okay. XD Yeah, just the word "letting" as a noun confused me a bit... that makes sense now. I think maybe here we would just say "vacation house" lol. :) Or maybe just rentable house.

@Nanook
Uh, oh, then that must be an Australian term, it's a house that is rented out to tourists. I don't know what the equivalent American term would be. :)

Awww, I love how she asked Rian to walk her down the aisle. That's so sweet, especially given their history. It looks like their wedding is coming together so well, so that only means more disaster is on the way.
