Alex's POV

The next days were filled with activities as Charlie decided to organise our wedding herself.
I didn't object and tried to help her wherever I could. First we drove around visiting churches.
I didn't even know Charlie was religious, I knew she wore a cross on her necklace but I didn't know it meant something to her. That was nice though and my mom would love it.

Well apparently the right church needed some kind of 'feel' to it, so with a lot of them we didn't even get out of the car but Charlie decided straight away. "No, that's not it. Let's look at the next one."
Eventually we found one she liked, it was a small old church made of bricks surrounded by old trees that actually wasn't too far away from our house and we talked to the priest if he would marry us.
He was more than happy to do so and asked if we had set a date yet.

I shook my head, Charlie stepped in and nodded and asked if the first Saturday in May would be available. When he looked in his planner I nudged her with my elbow. "That's in four weeks! Isn't that a bit too soon, considering we have to organise it all by ourselves?"
She elbowed me back. "Trust me, I know what I'm doing."
I wasn't too sure about that. I sat back in my chair pouting while crossing my arms blowing the hair out of my face.
"Yes, that date is free." The priest looked at us smiling. Then she went over the details with him really quickly while I tuned out.

When that was done she took me on a tour for the right venue for the reception. She didn't want an actual functions room in a hotel or so but something different.
We ended up renting a huge beach house that was actually a holiday letting on the edge of the city, which I have to admit was beautiful and a really good idea because guests could stay overnight and it had a private and cozy feel to it.

Charlie didn't want a formal dinner for the party but decided on a huge buffet which she ordered with a caterer in no time. She left me with the task of deciding what kind of alcohol we would like and then that was done as well.
She said it would be ridiculous to rent a band given the amount of musicians on our guest list. Instead she ordered her friend Ex-Oh to organise the music telling me he was not only a graffiti artist but one of the cities hottest DJ's as well.

It took her about two hours to design our invitations which turned out like a mix between one of our concert tickets and her tattoo designs and I was blown away by how cool and awesome they looked. She went out straight away to have them printed and by the end of day two we sat on the floor of our living room making the guest lists and writing out the envelopes.

"Baby, wow, the speed with which you set up this event one could think you do this every day." I smiled, discovering a whole new side on her, she could be organised and determined when she needed to be.

She was going through the list ticking off the names when I pulled a curly strand of hair that had fallen into her face behind her ear.
"I know you don't like to talk about it, but are there really no relatives of yours you would like to invite?" I tried to touch the subject.
She had told me both of her parents died in a plane crash when she was seventeen but apart from that she had never talked about her family.

"Uhm, well, maybe I should tell you a bit more about that." She moved closer to me and I had my arm around her shoulder while she grabbed me round the waist. " When my parents were still alive we did not have the best relationship, I did not turn out the way they wanted me to be. Apparently I was too wild and crazy and irresponsible.
I have a brother his name is Jeff, he is ten years older than me and he was always the favourite child.
So after they died, Jeff took over their company and paid me an enormous amount of money provided I would never try and contact him again or try to have a say in the running of the business. So to answer your question, no, there is no relative I would like to invite." She sighed and put her head on my chest.

"Hey, I am sorry to hear that, Charlie. But you have a family now. The guys and I are your family." Then I keep looking at her with a smirk.

"What?" She finally asked with a raised brow.
"An enormous amount of money, aye?" I winked at her.

She sighed theatrically. "I should have listened when Zack warned me that you are a gold digger."

I wrestled her to the floor tickling her until she begged me to stop and offered me kisses instead. We did a lot more than just kiss on the living room floor that night.

The next morning I wake up to a fully dressed Charlie lightly shaking my shoulders. "Wake up, Alex, hey I made you breakfast but I have to leave now, I have an appointment with the lady who makes my dress."

"What? And what am I supposed to do? When will you be back?" I whined, pouting and making grabby hands at her. I know I am horrible but I just want to spend every minute of the day with her.
She rolls her eyes at me. "You my dear have enough to do to keep you busy, you will not miss me, because you have to get our rings, I trust you on that and you will have to get a tux or whatever you want to wear at our wedding. Here are the addresses of a really good tailor and the jeweller."
She gives me a couple of quick kisses and gets up from the bed. I pout. "That wasn't even a proper goodbye kiss."

"I make it up to you with an awesome welcome back kiss." She calls from the door. And with that she is gone.

I take my time and have breakfast and then decide to call one of the guys to accompany me to the appointments.

I call Rian and ask. "Hey guys has one of you got time today to go to get the rings with me?"
There is rustling and arguing and then Jack is on the phone and replies. "Who are you stranger, we haven't heard from you in ages." He sounds a bit annoyed.
I hear Rian in the background asking who it is and Jack answers him. "It's this weird guy that keeps turning up at our concerts pretending to be in our band, apparently he needs some style advice on choosing wedding rings."

Now Rian is one the phone straight away and I hear Jack complaining in the back, obviously he did not want to let go of the phone.
"I'm in, where and when?" I tell him the address. "Okay, in an hour then?" Boy, he must be bored!
A couple of minutes after I arrive at the shop, Rian walks in smiling accompanied by Jack who is not looking up while texting on his phone.
"Hi Rian, hi Jack, I didn't know you were coming as well?" I greet them.
Jack looks up and shrugs. "I had nothing better to do and I wanted to make sure Sharky gets a decent ring, I mean the two of you have got like no taste at all."
Rian and I start to protest but he shuts us up by making a cutting movement with his hand at his throat. "Shut up guys, let's get at it." With that he turns to the shop owner with a wide smile. " Hi there, we would like to see the most beautiful and expensive wedding rings that you've got, please."
I roll my eyes at him.
We have narrowed the choice down to three, when Rian gets a call, he pulls out his phone and looks at the caller ID, then frowns at me." It's Sharky," he takes the call while I press speaker on his screen. He shakes his head at that but I look at him sternly, I want to know if something is wrong.

"Hi Sharky, what's up? How can I help you?" Rian practically sings into the phone while Jack and I shake our heads.
I hear her laughing on the other end and honestly I have already missed that.

"Hey Rian, you seem to be in a good mood. Even better. Look I was wondering, as I don't have a father anymore, would you by any chance like to lead me down the aisle in church? I mean you are the closest it gets to a father figure for me. No offence, mate." She giggles.

I see Rian's eyes light up. "Hey of course, it would be an honour, wow I am, like, totally overwhelmed. Thank you, Sharky." His smile is so wide I fear I get blinded by his teeth.

"No, thank you Rian, it means a lot to me." She answers and I can practically hear her smile.

"Hey why can't I be your father figure?" Jack whines looking upset.
"Is that Jack?" Charlie asks. "Wait! Am I on speakers? Well thank you Rian, so much for having a private conversation." She scolds but has to laugh all the while.
Rian makes an 'it's all your fault' face at Jack and me, jabbing his finger into our chests.

"And if I'm guessing right my little hubbie is with you as well."
Shit! She knows. I hide my face in my hands and groan.
I still hear her giggling.
"Well Jack, I don't know about the father figure, I guess you will need to grow up first, and a little birdie told me you're gonna be best man so make sure they order the right rings, you know they both have like the worst taste."
"Being best man is boring, can't I be the bridesmaid or the flower girl?" Jack childishly complains.

"Sure, Jacky, whatever floats your boat, I guess and Alex, I looooovee you Baby. I have to go. Bye Rian and thanks again" then she hangs up.

We finally decide on rings that look like the 'one ring' from Lord of the Rings, yes I'm sorry, I'm such a nerd.
Then we got into an argument about what should be engraved on the outside. In the end I decided on a quote from one of our songs.

With his new role as 'father' Rian wanted to join me and get a tux as well and of course Jack joined in, claiming he didn't own a decent suit. The tailor took my measurements and I choose the fabric and a classic slim tuxedo cut with a black shirt.

Notes

Nearly forgot about this one! Enjoy the update, lovelies!

Nooo, it's over. :-( This was a really sweet story. I loved watching Alex and Sharky's relationship grow. Hopefully you'll consider a sequel so we can see how married life treats them. Well done!

Aww... it's over! :( That kind of threw me off a bit, because in chapter 35, you said there were three chapters left, so I was expecting another after this. Unless there's an epilogue? Maybe you just changed it where it was only two, that's okay as well, lol. Wasn't prepared to say goodbye to it yet though.
A few things to note with this final chapter:
I hear Jack behind me snicker and just then realise that the organ did not intonate 'here comes the bride' but a somewhat churchy adaptation of our song 'Cinderblock Garden'.
I believe instead of the word "intonate" you may have meant "initiate." Looking up the definition for intonate, it deals with the rise and fall of pitch of voice. That doesn't really make sense when you're talking about an organ, lol. Whereas initiate would make sense because it would be saying that it started up the song. Also, realise should be realised; tense was off there.
And I was a bit confused with the date at the end... 2011? Yet Cinderblock Garden wasn't released until their album in 2015. Unless you wanted to change that entirely for the story? But up until this point, I thought it was set at the very least in 2015, if not present. I'm not really sure why you would want to throw off the music dynamic, though.
However, I did think it was cute how their wedding was on May 4th! Too perfect, and I'm very surprised Alex actually didn't try that in real life, lol. :P
But other than those two things, thought you did a great job on this chapter and the story overall! I really enjoyed it, and hope that you continue writing, because you really have a knack for it. Interested in seeing any new ideas that you come up with for new stories. :)
Gonna miss this one. Sharky and Alex are just <333, perfect.

lol, ohh okay. XD Yeah, just the word "letting" as a noun confused me a bit... that makes sense now. I think maybe here we would just say "vacation house" lol. :) Or maybe just rentable house.

@Nanook
Uh, oh, then that must be an Australian term, it's a house that is rented out to tourists. I don't know what the equivalent American term would be. :)

Awww, I love how she asked Rian to walk her down the aisle. That's so sweet, especially given their history. It looks like their wedding is coming together so well, so that only means more disaster is on the way.
