To the Moon and Back

Seconds

Alex's POV

"Let me go, Alex. I have to clear my head." Charlie walks past not even looking at me. I try to stop her but she doesn't care.

Then she just skates away.

I have to hold myself back to not run after her but I think she needs her space right now. It feels horrible seeing her going away from me.

It is true though, I didn't want her to hang out with her street crew anymore because that's what got her into trouble in the first place and I didn't want her to do all this other stuff because it is dangerous and I am terrified she might get hurt and I won't be there to rescue her.
And when the word is out she is married to me it will be even worse because then she can't just go places without being recognised and possibly getting harassed.
Maybe she is having second thoughts about marrying me, maybe she realises that being with me means also losing a part of her freedom. Oh my god, does she want to leave me? Is that why she freaked out with the wedding planners?

I don't know how I got back into the house and when I snap out of my thoughts I realise I am sitting on my couch in the living room.

I have to talk to her, now! My mind is racing, where could she have been going? The skate park? Probably not, it is full of little punks, that's not her style, her apartment? No that's too far to skate. The beach? She loves the ocean and goes there when she's troubled, yes, that's where she is. I grab my car keys again and then decide against it, I take my bicycle out of the garage and head to the beach that is the closest.
When I get there I can't see anyone on the beach, it isn't the best weather and the sea is rough. I ride along the beach road for a while but there is no one, I turn around and go back, further down the road I see a bunch of kids with skateboards hanging out on the sidewalk. I ride over to them.

"Hey, sorry guys, I am looking for a girl, she is blonde with curly hair and wearing a black hoodie and she was skating, have you by any chance seen her around here?"
They all turn around to me and give me a strange look. Nobody answers but then the only girl in the group suddenly squeals "Hey, you're Alex from All Time Low! If you don't find your girl, why don't you take me, I could dye my hair blonde if you like, I love you Alex!" She yells and dramatically grabs her heart making all the boys snort with suppressed laughter.

I smile at her but I bet it doesn't look very convincing, I'm just not in the mood to joke around with fans.
One of the guys seems to remember something, he scratches his head. "I think I saw this chick ride past a while ago and I guess she turned towards Crystal Pier." His friends start laughing hitting his shoulder. "Hahaha, so you totally checked this guy's girl out." He blushes and shoves them in return.
I get back on my bike and nod a thank you and ride towards the pier. When I come closer I squint my eyes trying to find her on the pier but there are only a couple of people there and although I can't clearly see them I know they are not Charlie.

Then something catches my eye, far out on the pier, under the platform. It looks like somebody sits on the horizontal beams that run from pillar to pillar. I don't know how she got there but I am certain that's Sharky. I ride along the pier as fast as I can and when I guess I am close to where she sits I get off and look over the railing to try and spot her.
I don't see anything so I climb over it, my feet resting on a small ledge and hold onto the handrail leaning forward with only the raging sea below me. There she is, sitting on a beam looking into the water as if she is contemplating to jump down. She hasn't noticed me yet and I decide against calling her name and maybe scaring her so she might fall.

I look for a way to climb down and slowly make my way under the platform which is not easy, when I finally reach the spot and sit down beside her she looks up startled but when she realises it's me she frowns. "Alex, why do you do this, you could get hurt."
I snort unhappily. "Oh, and you could not get hurt."
She smiles at me sadly. "I'm sorry that I am not the kind of girl you want."

I hug her and hold her head pressed to my heart. "Stop that, Charlie you ARE the girl I want, I am sorry for trying to lock you up in a cage but I am just so worried that something might happen to you. I realised that I fell in love with the crazy street girl and that I will have to learn and live with the fear of losing you. Please don't leave me, as I said I just want to make you happy, whatever it takes I will do it."

She hugs me back hiding her face in my hoodie. "I could never leave you, I was afraid you decided I was just too weird to be your wife."
She looks up and wipes her face with her sleeve. "And the wedding?" She looks at me with big eyes.

"Baby, I don't care about the wedding, I care about you, do whatever you like, if you need my help, tell me. If you want me to stay out of this, fine as well. I want this to be a day that you remember as being awesome and tell our kids about it." I hold her chin up and plant a little kiss on her lips.

"Oh Alex, I want to make this the best day for the two of us, we are not an ordinary couple, why should we have an ordinary wedding?"
She gushes and cuddles up to me. We sit like that for a while then I ask her. "Do you have any idea how to get back up?" She smiles and shakes her head. "Nope." I sigh in defeat and hold out my hand for her to take.

We finally make it back onto the pier, with helping, pushing and holding each other and one or two times slipping on the mossy wood and nearly losing our footing. Then we ride home, Charlie on her skateboard holding onto me while I pull her with my bike. We scream and laugh like teenagers on their first date and it is just great, I feel so alive. It feels like the two of us together are invincible.

Notes

I realised there are only three more chapters in this one as well, so here we go, lovelies, hope you enjoy;)

Nooo, it's over. :-( This was a really sweet story. I loved watching Alex and Sharky's relationship grow. Hopefully you'll consider a sequel so we can see how married life treats them. Well done!

Aww... it's over! :( That kind of threw me off a bit, because in chapter 35, you said there were three chapters left, so I was expecting another after this. Unless there's an epilogue? Maybe you just changed it where it was only two, that's okay as well, lol. Wasn't prepared to say goodbye to it yet though.
A few things to note with this final chapter:
I hear Jack behind me snicker and just then realise that the organ did not intonate 'here comes the bride' but a somewhat churchy adaptation of our song 'Cinderblock Garden'.
I believe instead of the word "intonate" you may have meant "initiate." Looking up the definition for intonate, it deals with the rise and fall of pitch of voice. That doesn't really make sense when you're talking about an organ, lol. Whereas initiate would make sense because it would be saying that it started up the song. Also, realise should be realised; tense was off there.
And I was a bit confused with the date at the end... 2011? Yet Cinderblock Garden wasn't released until their album in 2015. Unless you wanted to change that entirely for the story? But up until this point, I thought it was set at the very least in 2015, if not present. I'm not really sure why you would want to throw off the music dynamic, though.
However, I did think it was cute how their wedding was on May 4th! Too perfect, and I'm very surprised Alex actually didn't try that in real life, lol. :P
But other than those two things, thought you did a great job on this chapter and the story overall! I really enjoyed it, and hope that you continue writing, because you really have a knack for it. Interested in seeing any new ideas that you come up with for new stories. :)
Gonna miss this one. Sharky and Alex are just <333, perfect.

lol, ohh okay. XD Yeah, just the word "letting" as a noun confused me a bit... that makes sense now. I think maybe here we would just say "vacation house" lol. :) Or maybe just rentable house.

@Nanook
Uh, oh, then that must be an Australian term, it's a house that is rented out to tourists. I don't know what the equivalent American term would be. :)

Awww, I love how she asked Rian to walk her down the aisle. That's so sweet, especially given their history. It looks like their wedding is coming together so well, so that only means more disaster is on the way.
