Reconnected

It’s the start of Eve’s junior year, after a long and relatively uneventful summer full of drawing and writing mindlessly.

Eve walks into Dulaney High School alongside her best friend and partner in crime Dakota. They walk to their lockers which just so happen to be right next to each other with Eve laughing at a story about the summer Dakota told.

“I can’t believe you did that” Eve laughed out while opening her locker.

“I know. It was so embarrassing” Dakota responded, opening her locker too.

They grabbed their books for their first period, which was a class they didn’t share together.

“I wish we had first period together” Dakota said closing her locker.

“Me too” Eve said collecting her thing trying to hide the sadness she was feeling about having to be alone.

“Hey, I’ll walk you there though”

“Okay” Eve perked up at that.

They walked through the halls trying not to run into people while making mindless conversation. Soon enough, too soon for Eve, they reached her first period classroom.
“I’ll see you in third period. You’ll do okay. Remember ignore the little shits” Dakota told Eve and pulled her into a hug.

“I will. See you Kota”

“See you Evie”

Eve walked into her class and instantly sat in the very back corner, ignoring everyone around her. She put her head down and waited for the bell to ring.

As soon as the bell rang she put her head up whilst the teacher called roll. She was only tuned in for the first few seconds waiting for her name to be called. As soon as her name was called she put her head back down. Nearly dozing off from the lack of sleep before she heard the door to the class open. She looked up and saw a face that looked strangely familiar.

“Mr. Gaskarth, late on the first day” The teacher chided. Eve perked up at the last name. It sounds so familiar to her.

“Sorry Ms. Kohn”

“It’s fine. Just don’t make a habit of it. There’s an empty seat next to Ms. Black at the back of the room” Alex also perked up at the mention of Eve’s last name. It sounded familiar, he just couldn’t put his finger on why.

He walked to the seat next to Eve and sat down. She looked over at him and as she stared more it clicked in her head.
“Lex? I-Is that you?”

Anyway Alex and Eve huh? Eve seems to have figured out who Alex is, but will he figure out who she is?
