Perfect Boyfriend

Nyssa's POV:
My heart is pounding in my ears. I watch Alex entertain the two women, I can't move, I can't look away. And it's worse because Jack see's it as well. "You have to be kidding me," I hear Jack say. "Sir, you can't be in here," I hear an employee say. I quickly turn to face Jack, an employee is trying to get Jack to leave but he's fighting back. "Jack, please don't do this." "If I leave, she leaves." "What the hell is going on here!?," the manager yells. "I'm not going anywhere unless she comes with me," Jack snaps. The manager looks at me, sighs, and shakes his head. "I knew you would cause trouble from the start. Get them out." One guy grabs me and they push out. I look back and I see Alex watching us. I quickly look away, I'm sorry Alex. I couldn't tell if he was hurt or he was disappointed in me. We get to the entrance and they push us out, slamming the door closed.

I quickly pick up my bag, "I can't believe this Nyssa." "Jack, it's not what you think." "How long have you known he's been working here!?" "I..." "Tell me Nyssa." "A week.." "Now it makes since..." Jack runs his hand through his hair and bites his lower lip. "Jack..." "I can't believe you're dating a guy like that Nyssa!" I stare at him shocked. "Jack-" "How can you stand dating a guy who works here!? He's not being loyal to you! What is he getting out of this anyway!?" I can't tell him... "If he really loved you! He wouldn't work here! If I was dating you, I would never do that to you!" He stops and stares at me in shock. "Ja-" "Fuck it." He gently grabs and pulls me towards him. "Jack, what are you doing?" "I can't stand keeping it a secret anymore Nyssa. I know I'm late with this, and it probably seems dumb that I'm finally saying it. But I like you Nyssa, I like you more as a friend. I don't see you as a sister. I don't see you as a friend. I see you more than that. And I'm dumb for finally realizing it. And of course it happens after you get a boyfriend. But I really like you Nyssa, and I want to be with you."

I stare up at him in shock, I've never seen Jack look at me like this before. I never thought that I would hear these words from him. He pulls me closer, our bodies touching, making my heart skip a beat. "Jack.." "I don't understand how you can you be with a guy like him... You deserve a guy who treats you better.. Who treats you like you are the only girl in the world, in his world... I would treat you like that.." "Jack, are you saying that..." "That you should break up with him, yes." I push him away, "I can't do that Jack." "And why can't you!?" "I just can't." He turns away from me while running his hand through his hair. "Jack I'm sorry." I grab his arm but he pulls it away. "The Nyssa I know, wouldn't stay with a guy like that," his voice breaks, like he's trying not to cry. I let Jack walk off and watch him. I don't know how I feel. I've known Jack my whole life, and yet, I don't know how I feel. Did I ever have feelings for him in the past because he's the only guy who was ever there for me?

"Nyssa." I turn around and see Alex, he's now dressed in the clothes we bought together. "Alex, I'm so sorry. I'll go home first." I start to walk away but he gently grabs my hand. "No. I want to go home with you. Nyssa, I'm sorry if I was the cause of your fight with Jack. I know how important he is in your life and I didn't want to cause trouble between you two." "Alex..." I can't tell him... I can't tell him that Jack likes me... Because I don't even know how I feel now about Jack... I never saw Jack as a brother. He was just there. He understands me the most. "The colors keep changing, I can't tell what your emotion is." "I have a mix of emotions right now, that's probably why.." Alex pulls me close and holds me. "I'm really sorry Nyssa," he whispers.

*Morning*
Jack's POV:
I walk into the library and see Alex working. I can't believe him. I walk up to the desk and drop my book on the counter to get his attention. "We need to talk. Now." "I'll be right back." "Okay Alex." I grab my book and he follows me to the stares hallway. "What do you need to talk about?" "How can you work there while you're dating Nyssa!?" "I kind of don't have a choice." This guy seriously pisses me off. I got no sleep last night because of how I confessed to Nyssa and how she acted towards me. And yet, she's still with him. "Don't you realize how much you're hurting her!?" "I'm... Hurting her?" "God, how blind are you!? She's been going there every night to keep an eye on your because she's worried that you'll cheat on her! Which means she's staying up really late, spending money, falling asleep in class and work, because of you." "She is!?" "And I'm guessing she hasn't told you that part." "No.. She hasn't.." "Because she cares about you to much. She doesn't want to see you leave her. Because you're her first boyfriend."

"...What do I need to do?" "Are you seriously asking that!? You need to quit that place and come back to the bar!" I run off, I can't believe this guy!

*That Night*
Nyssa's POV:
"And why are you here!?," the manager snaps. "I promise I'm not here to cause trouble. I'm ordering food and a drink. I promise." He can't turn down my business. He walks off and I take a seat at the bar. "Hi Randolph, I want to order something." "Food tonight?" "Yes." "That's a first, what would you like?" "The cheapest thing on the menu." He laughs, "a plate of fries and your usual drink." "Thank you." I open my laptop and start working on an assignment. "Why are you doing homework?" "I have an assignment due in the morning and this is the only time I have to work on it." I should be home doing this, but I have to keep an eye on Alex. I have to.

Alex's POV:
"Nyssa," I say quietly. Nyssa fell asleep an hour ago at the bar, Randolph was nice enough to move and close her laptop because her head was laying on the key board. 'She's staying up really late, spending money, falling asleep in class and work, because of you.' My system recorded what Jack said earlier since he was talking about Nyssa. Am I really doing this to you Nyssa...? Nyssa, am I really causing you this much pain? I shake her a bit and run my fingers through her hair, but she just groans. "I'm going to guess that she's your girlfriend," I hear manager say. "Yeah.. She is.." "I knew it from the beginning. That's the only explanation why she kept coming here. If you have a girlfriend, why are you here?" "I kind of didn't have a choice in this." "Well, you have a choice. You choose your girlfriend, or you stay." I look down at Nyssa and run my fingers through her hair, Randolph was also nice enough to take her glasses off so she wouldn't feel uncomfortable.

"I quit. I can't do this anymore to her. I care about her more than this job. I'm supposed to be her perfect boyfriend." "I'll let you quit on one condition. Someone came in earlier and booked you for tomorrow, and she paid in advance." "But sir." "I can't turn her away tomorrow since she's already paid. After tomorrow, you can leave. Is that a deal?" "It's a deal." It's one more night. I'm sorry Nyssa, I'm sorry for everything. Manager walks away and I nudge her again. "Nyssa, it's time to wake up." She groans and slowly sits up while rubbing her eyes. She feels around for her glasses, I grab them for her and put them on her. She blinks a bit and stares up at me. "Alex...," she smiles up at me. "Nyssa, it's to go home." I pack up her things and put her backpack over my shoulder. I help her get off the stool, hold her hand, and walk out with her. "What time is it..." "It's 3 am." "Shit... My homework... I don't remember if I finished it..." She came here, to keep an eye on me, and did her homework. When she should have been at home... She doesn't even remember if she finished it...

"Nyssa, I know you're tired. But I have to tell you this right now." "What is it?," she yawns. "I have to work one more night, and then I can quit this club. I promise it's for one more night, and I promise that I'm going back to the bar." "But the company.." "I don't care what the company says. I care about you more than what the company wants." I kiss her cheek and she smiles. "I love it when you kiss me Alex... Thank you.." She yawns again and stumbles a bit. I lift her up and carry her home. It's just for one more night Nyssa. I promise. I'm your's, no one else's.
