Perfect Boyfriend

Nyssa's POV:
"I have breakfast ready Nyssa," I hear Alex say, I open my eyes and see Alex smiling while holding a tray with food on it. "Breakfast in bed?" "Of course. I wanted you to have a peaceful morning." I sit up and he sets the tray in my lap. "Mmmm, you made my favorites. Thank you Alex." "I figured after what happened, that I should treat you." He sits down by me and kisses my cheek. "I realize what I did was wrong. I should have found a better way to help you." "It's okay Alex, I'm just happy hearing that you know what you did wrong." I put some food on my fork and hold it out for him. "This is your breakfast Nyssa. Not mine." "I don't care, I want you to eat as well." He eats it and I smile at him. I wonder how I would feel right now if I had returned Alex yesterday. "When do you have class?" My phone alarm goes off and I shove some more food into my mouth. "I'm sorry Alex, but I have to get ready now for class." "That's okay, I should get going to my shift at the library." I kiss his cheek and quickly get out of bed while he held the tray. He stares at me shocked, "what is it?" "It's just, you never really kiss me. You just surprised me."

Wow, I kissed Alex? Without a second thought? Maybe I'm getting more comfortable with him...

Jack's POV:
"I can't believe you're still with him after what he did to me Nyssa," I hear Claire snap. "Claire, I'm sorry but-" "I'm your best friend Nyssa. I've been there for you since the first day of college. I can't believe you're picking him over me." "Claire, wait!" I lean against the wall and when Claire walks past me I grab her arm. She looks at me and tries to pull her arm away but I keep my hold. "Why are you so pissed off at Nyssa?" "Of course you're on her side. I swear, sometimes I think that you should have dated her." She pulls again but this time I pull her towards me. "Tell me exactly why you're pissed off at Nyssa." "She's still with Alex, even though he had hurt me. That isn't right." "But tell me. Claire. When I got there, it seemed like you were there before Alex and I were." "I-I just gotten there right before you guys did." "Oh really." I spin us around and push her against the wall.

"What are you doing Jack?" "Why are you nervous Claire?" "I asked you first." "Actually, I was the one who asked first. And I don't fully believe you when you say that you had just gotten there. If you had, you would have helped Nyssa. But from what I saw, you were just standing there. Like you were watching her." She looks away from me. "Tell me Claire, how come you're the only girl who's nice to Nyssa? Because every girl in the past has been mean to her. I've known her since we were in diapers, and I know that's a fact. So if this pattern stayed true, you would be on that list." "What are you getting at Jack?" "I think you know what I'm getting at." "And why do you care so much about Nyssa?" "Is that really question? You've known the two of us long enough Claire. Tell me Claire, what exactly were you doing before Alex and I showed up?"

Claire pushes me away and runs off. Running and avoiding my questions makes you guilty Claire. You haven't broken the mean girl to Nyssa pattern.

Nyssa's POV:
"What is it Jack?" Jack found me and pulled me to the closes empty classroom. "I don't think Claire is really your friend." "What are you talking about?" "I questioned her earlier and she just avoided all of my questions." "And what does that prove then? Claire is my best friend." "If she's really your best friend, then how about you ask her what she was doing before Alex saved you." Jack walks out of the classroom and the door closes behind him. What is he talking about?

"Claire, can I talk to you?" "Have you broken up with Alex?" I let out a sigh, grab her hand, and pull her along with me. "Why are you so persistent that I break up with Alex?" "Because of what he did to me. I can't believe you're staying with the guy who had hurt your best friend." Claire has never snapped at me before. She avoided me in the hospital and hasn't been answering my texts and phone calls. "Claire, I'm sorry-" "Oh bullshit!" I stare at her in shock. "I'm going to guess that Jack talked to you, didn't he!" "Y-yes..." She rolls her eyes, "just fucking perfect." "Claire-" "Do you want to hear the truth Nyssa? The whole truth? Well here it is, I watched you crawling around on the floor, looking pathetic. You looked so pathetic that I wanted to laugh. I took your glasses off the ground and had put them on top of the in case of fire emergency box." "Why would you do that?" "Isn't it obvious? I hate you."

It feels like a bunch of knives are stabbing me in the heart. "Why-why do you-" "Because you got me black listed in the sororities!!," she screams at me. "It's your fault that I can't get into one!! From that moment on, I hated you!" "But we're-" "Friends? Oh please. I saw you as a weak, pathetic, ugly, lo-" I slap her face and glare at her. I'm fighting back tears. "I know I deserve that," she scuffs. "I don't hate you because you didn't help me that day. I hate you because you've lied to me this entire time since I met you." I run off, tears sliding down my cheeks now. Jack was right.

I keep running, I push my glasses up and wipe my tears. I keep running and I run right into someone. "I'm sorry..." I look up and see Jack. "Nyssa. Did you-" I cry more and hug him tightly. He holds me and gently rocks me. "I'm sorry that this happened Nyssa," he whispers in my ear. "I know that she was your best friend. But I knew that you had to know the truth."

Jack's POV:
I look up and see Alex running towards us. I stare at him running. I kiss the top of her head and he slowly stops running. I rub her back, she sobbing continues, "just let it out Nyssa. Just let it out." "Th-thank you Jack... For being there for me..." Alex just stares at us, I can't tell if he's angry. If you wanted to comfort your girlfriend Alex, you should have gotten here first. You should have known something was up with Claire before me. You should have helped Nyssa to find out the truth. But you didn't. I did.
