Perfect Boyfriend

Nyssa's POV:
I start to doze off, "Nyssa! Wake up!," I hear my teacher yell. I jump and quickly sit up, causing the class, well except for Jack and Claire, to laugh at me. How long was I not paying attention!? "As I was saying, tomorrow we leave for our class trip. It will be a over night one. And all of your have turned in your forms. Be thankful that the school is paying for this trip everyone. And this trip isn't just for fun, its for your major." "Yeah right, he has us doing a ropes course," Claire whispers to me. "It's also about team building, because you all will have classes together for the rest of your major. I have assigned the supervisors, you may know them. But I had them promise me they wouldn't tell you. Some of the supervisors will be grading you, and others are just there to keep an eye on you." Ever since the teacher announced that we are doing a class trip at the beginning of the semester, I was so excited.

"Class trip?" "Yeah! We're doing a ropes course and other things that will help us with our class bond. It's all because we'll all be in the same classes for the rest of our major." "That seems really fun Nyssa." I look up from my suitcase, Alex is sitting on my bed. "I'm sorry that I'm leaving you for two days Alex. I promise they'll go fast." I go over to him and sit by him, "I'm sure the two day will go fast Nyssa." He smiles down at me and kisses my cheek. "You should finish packing." "Yeah, I should."

Next day:
Alex left really early this morning which was weird, and a suitcase was missing, which makes it weirder. I pull my suitcase behind me and reach my class, Jack and Claire are already here. "Morning!," I tell them when I reach them. Jack yawns and looks at is phone. "Is the professor and the supervisors here yet?" "Not yet, but I just got here." "I'm so excited for this trip." "Same!" "Excuse me everyone!," I hear our teacher yell. We look over and see him, "okay. I see that all of you are here. Time to introduce our supervisors. Jane, Michael, Shannon, and Alex." The supervisors walk out and I stare at Alex in shock. HOW!? WHAT!? HOW IS HE A SUPERVISOR!? I swear it has to be the company, they're the reason as to why Alex is a volunteer at the library. Alex see's me and smiles at me. Damn that promise they had to make to not tell us.

"Look at that, your boyfriend is joining us, hopefully you two get some alone time," Claire whispers in my ear and it causes me to blush. "Nyssa!" Alex quickly walks over to me and hugs me, "I'm sorry that I couldn't tell you Nyssa. He made me promise to not tell anyone." "Was the company behind this?," I whisper close to him. He quickly nods, I knew it. "Nyssa, who is this?," I hear Sara ask me. Alex steps to my side and I see Sara and her friends staring at us. "Oh. Um. This is-" "I'm her boyfriend." Everyone in our class stops what they're doing and stares at us. Oh my god... Stop... Stop staring at me... Alex puts his arm around me, I'm sure he has a proud smile. I hear them whisper about me and I look down, allowing my hair to hide my face. "Guy's, leave Nyssa alone," I hear Claire say. "Does it really matter to you that she has a boyfriend? No, it doesn't. So how about you leave her alone."

I look up at Claire and smile at her in thanks.

"Nyssa, we want to talk to you," Sara tells me. "Um. Okay." After a long bus ride, we finally reached our destination. "So I heard that you're wanting to be in our sorority." "Well. Um. Yeah." "Well, as you know, we're some of the top students in the sorority. Which means we can be very influential on who gets in and who doesn't." "We want to make a deal Nyssa," Ariel says. "We want to have alone time with Alex." "But he's my-" "We know he's your boyfriend," Amelia snaps. "Easy Amelia," Sara says. "We basically who says who gets in and doesn't. So here's the deal, want to be in our sorority, you let us have alone time with Alex. Deal?" "Well. Um." "You better say yes Nyssa, because we know you've been trying to get in since Freshman year." "How do you know about that?" "We aren't that stupid Nyssa." "It's your choice."

They start walking away, in my major, if I was in this sorority, it can really benefit me more. I have to think about my future first.... "Yes." They stop walking and Sara turns around first. "Yes what?" "Yes, you-you can have alone time with Alex." Sara smiles at me, "you've made the perfect choice Nyssa."

"Come on Nyssa!," Claire yells for me at the bottom of the hill. We're going out on the lake to do paddle boats. And luckily for me, we were able to pick our partner. "Coming!" "Nyssa, don't you want to ride together?" Alex grabs my arm and I look up at him. "But um, I'm riding with Claire." "I don't have someone to ride with Alex, can you be my partner?," I hear Sara say sweetly. Alex looks down at Sara and looks back at me. "She already has a partner, and I don't have one. Please?" I hear two laughs behind me and I feel a push on my side. "Nyssa!," With me being on the hill, I end up running forwards, with no balance, and I was going fast. I hear Alex and someone else yell. I close my eyes and feel someone catch me. "Nyssa, are you okay?" I open my eyes and look up at Jack. He was staring down at me in worry. "I-Im okay Jack. I promise." Alex runs up to us and Jack helps me stand up.

I look past Alex, and Sara and her friends are glaring at me.

Jack's POV:
I look at Sara and her friends and I see that they're glaring at Nyssa. What happened between the four of them? They used to never talk to Nyssa. I saw them talk earlier and it seemed like Nyssa was uncomfortable. "I-'I'm gonna go ride with Claire," Nyssa mumbles. "Don't run Nyssa," I tell her. She nods and walks down the hill to meet Claire. "Come on Alex! Please be my partner!," Sara yells. Now I get it. "Hey. Alex." "Yes Jack?" "How could you not tell with how Sara was treating Nyssa?" "What do you mean?" "Did you not notice that Sara's friends had pushed Nyssa?" "I didn't." "So you can't even tell that they might be bullying Nyssa?" Anger is filling me now. How can this idiot not see that these girls might be bullying Nyssa? The only time I ever see other girls talking to Nyssa, is when they're bullying her, or her co-workers.

"They're bullying Nyssa? But they seem really nice." "That's what they want you to think Alex. You need to be smarter and actually pay attention. I'm not her boyfriend, and yet I can tell something was wrong." I push Alex on his chest, turn around, and walk down the hill where my partner was waiting. "Let's go Alex!," I hear Sara yell happily. "Um. Okay Sara," I hear him say back. I look at Nyssa, she's with Claire and they're getting life jackets on. Nyssa, I hope your boyfriend is right in the head, because he wasn't able to tell that you're being bullied. Meanwhile, I can. I always have, and have been there for you every time that it happened.
