Chapter 7: Collide

I couldn’t sleep that night from all of my pestering thoughts, so I went into the living room to read, which was difficult with the bus moving along on its way to the venue in Detroit. My hands kept shaking and I struggled to see the words, even with my glasses on. I didn’t mind though. At least it kept my mind off of Alex.
Just then Alex wandered into the room, a dark bottle in his hand. He plopped down on the couch next to me, the liquid sloshing in the bottle and an dreadful smell wafting to my nose. He had obviously been drinking.
“Jesus, Max,” he slurred. “I swear, everytime I see you you’re reading.”
“Why are you drunk?” I wondered.
“Haven’t you ever partied before?” he asked.
“I’m not one of those kinds of college kids,” I commented.
“Oh trust me,” he grinned. “There is a party girl in there just dying to be let out.”
I laughed, unsure. “I’m sure.”
He took another swig of his beer. “I will bring that party girl out someday, I promise.”
I grabbed a hold of his beer, causing our fingertips to touch. “I think you’ve had enough, Alex.”
He yanked the bottle back, pulling me forward so far that I was almost on top of him. “How would you know if you haven’t partied?”
His face was a mere inches from mine, but yet I couldn’t smell the alcohol on his breath. “Because you’re drunk, dipshit.”
He pulled the bottle out of my grasp and set it on the table, moving his hands to grip my waist. “Did you know that you’re hot?”
I tried to wriggle out of his iron grip, but I couldn’t escape. I sighed, exasperated with his antics. “That proves my point. You’re talking nonsense.”
“Chill out, Max. Now, close your eyes please,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
I felt a surge of panic flow through me. “Why?”
“Because I asked nicely,” he replied.
I gulped nervously. “And if I don’t?”
He shrugged. “You’ll just have to find out.”
Despite the uneasy feeling in my gut, I let my eyes flutter close. “Okay...what now?”
But he didn’t respond with words, and instead pressed his lips to mine softly. Uneasiness was replaced with butterflies, and I couldn’t help but kiss him back. Everything felt like a dream as I slowly rose to cloud nine with every movement. The minutes ticked by, but we just kissed, letting the world pass by.
He pulled away slowly and I reopened my eyes, a small grin appearing on his face. “You should get to bed, Max.”
I was suddenly confused. “But wait-”
He pressed a finger to my lips. “Let’s just leave it like this. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
I felt disappointed at this. With him being drunk, he’d never remember this, though I wanted him to. I wondered if he had felt all that I had in it. Never before had a kiss been quite that good for me. How was it really that different than the others?
I got up from the couch and went to my bunk, collapsing inside and closing the curtain. I picked at the peeling skin on my lips, trying to ignore the lingering feeling of Alex’s against them. It was always said that being drunk lowers your inhibitions, so did this mean that Alex liked me? Or was he just too drunk to even know that anything was going on?
I tried to sleep, but the tingling feeling I had stayed, much to my dismay. What was I going to do? Forget this? Confront Alex? I didn’t know, so I put in my earphones and turned on my IPod, hoping that the lyrics to my favorite songs would help me solve it.

Notes

Sorry this chapter is short...but at least it was important!

Also, I'd like to say that after I finish this one, I will be writing a Jack fic that will sort of be a sequel to this one. Maxine will be in it too. Thank you guys for all of the support!

So I just read this story, all in one sitting, and seriously loved it. You're a really great writer. :)
Alex and Max's relationship was so sincere, and even though the end was kind of surprising, I found it perfect in a way. Like one of my favorite endings I've ever read to a fic, actually. Instead of very cliche it more so fit the pieces together, if that makes sense.
I really loved it. If you ever choose to maybe rewrite this story, or perhaps do a sequel to it, I will definitely read. I looked on your profile and unfortunately you don't seem to have anymore Alex/OC centered stories. But if you ever write a new one of those, feel free to let me know as well.
One of the better stories I've read in a while, great job with it. :)

@Billie Joe Gaskarth You're lovely. Thank you <3

No leave it as it is, you may think it can be improved but so can everything, start a new one then you can look back and see how you've developed as a writer :) just personal opinion though ;)
