Chapter 15: I Won't Give Up

“Max, wake up,” Alex whispered into my ear. I stretched a little before opening my eyes to my grinning boyfriend.
“Why? I’m so comfy,” I whined.
“I know, but we have to get back on the road soon. Trust me, I wish we could just stay like this all day,” he replied.
“It’s not that, I just don’t really want to see Matt,” I mentioned.
“You’re going to have to talk to him at some point,” he stated.
“He doesn’t think I belong on this tour, Alex,” I commented. “Maybe I should just go home.”
“No, Max, don’t,” Alex said, eyes pleading. “Er, I guess if you really want to you can go. But I don’t want you to. I mean, if you left, what would happen with us?”
“I don’t get it. Why do you want me to stay so bad?” I wondered.
He sighed. “No one makes me angrier than you do, but you know what? That doesn’t matter. You are so beautiful, and you’re easily the smartest person I know. You get along so well with everyone too. Not to mention you are hilarious. If I’m not careful, I might just fall head over heels in love with you sooner than I expected.”
I wasn’t sure what to say. No one had ever said something so nice to me. I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him, the force knocking him off of the bed and taking me with him. I giggled as we hit the floor with a loud thud. “At this point, I don’t think I have any control over whether or not I fall in love with you, Alex Gaskarth.”
I hopped up off of him and quickly begun getting dressed for the day, re-packing my suitcase for the long road trip ahead. Once we were ready, Alex and I met everybody in the lobby and our large group proceeded to the bus.
Once inside, I put my things away and then plopped down on the couch, only for Matt to sit down next to me immediately. I sighed and began picking at my fingernails, not wanting to look at my uncle.
“Come on, Maxine,” He said. “I hate that you’re mad at me.”
“You were the angry one,” I replied. “I just ran away because I hated being yelled at.”
“Fair enough,” he mentioned before he paused. “I just-I’m sorry. I was out of line and I shouldn’t have tried to play the parent role on you. I mean, all I know about you is the stuff your mom has told me over the years, and that really isn’t much, so I can’t try to tell you who you are.”
“You could’ve gotten to know me, Matt,” I stated.
“I know,” he sighed. “I was like 7 when you were born, and there wasn’t much to get to know since you were just starting out. By the time you had your own little personality, I was a teenager and thought I was too cool to be playing with some little kid. Then I grew up a little and got this job, and I felt bad for all those years of basically ignoring you, so I made an effort to try harder. Guess it didn’t work out so well.”
“Whatever. What’s done is done. Let’s just try to get along now,” I decided.
He smiled. “Sound good to me.”
He gave me a hug and went back to his business as a tour manager, and I gazed out the window of the tour bus as it began to roll along, feeling good about making up with Matt, but also a little uneasy. I wasn’t sure what, but I couldn’t help but feel something new was going to be happening to us.

Notes

Okay guys, I have some apologies to make. First: For waiting so long to update and Second: That this is such a short chapter. At least I sorta made it fluffy XD I was originally going to end this here, but since the sequel was a flop, I decided to just continue this one.

Also, I'm going to write a high school AU since I'm starting my sophomore year in a month. I get my schedule soon, and I think I will start it then. There will be Alex/OC and Jack/OC in it as well.

Anyway, thank you to Jewelian, Beautifulbreakdown, blasttyrant, nicole_gaskarth_1, KateTheGreat, Elzzo, and everyone who voted, rated, and read this story. I love you all!!!!! :)

So I just read this story, all in one sitting, and seriously loved it. You're a really great writer. :)
Alex and Max's relationship was so sincere, and even though the end was kind of surprising, I found it perfect in a way. Like one of my favorite endings I've ever read to a fic, actually. Instead of very cliche it more so fit the pieces together, if that makes sense.
I really loved it. If you ever choose to maybe rewrite this story, or perhaps do a sequel to it, I will definitely read. I looked on your profile and unfortunately you don't seem to have anymore Alex/OC centered stories. But if you ever write a new one of those, feel free to let me know as well.
One of the better stories I've read in a while, great job with it. :)

@Billie Joe Gaskarth You're lovely. Thank you <3

No leave it as it is, you may think it can be improved but so can everything, start a new one then you can look back and see how you've developed as a writer :) just personal opinion though ;)
