Kiss and Sell

I'm Nothing Without Love

Oli really seemed to hate him because after he fought back he wouldn't leave him alone. Alex was being beat up every chance Oli got. If Jack ever left him alone or even Josh Alex was being attacked. He started to get even more paranoid than he already was. He even blew up on Josh and attacked him because he was sure the boy was in on some kind of secret plan with Oli. Jack was the only one he seemed comfortable around even slightly. His insanity was slowly crumbling being stuck in that school.

"Just three more weeks." Jack would tell him because in three weeks they were graduating and Alex wouldn't have to worry about being bullied ever again, but three weeks didn't give Alex comfort. He'd be losing a bully, but he'd also be losing his boyfriend.

He felt like his world was crumbling around him sometimes. Jack seemed to be the only glue that was keeping him together and soon he'd no longer be around to fix every little insecurity Alex had, every cracking pillar that held him up on his own. Alex never realized before how much he needed someone to keep him together, hold him up like a crutch. He thought he was fine alone, but now that he's been in a relationship with Jack he's realized how stupid he was to think he could live his life alone happily. Before he was so lonely and now Jack almost seemed to complete him.

Of course, he wasn't going to die if he lost Jack. He'd move on to a new relationship, but he was always going to love the younger and he didn't want to have to move on. He wanted to be one of those stupid old couples who could say they married their high school sweetheart proudly. He figured him and Jack had been through enough together that it was bound to work out in their favor later on.

But of course, there was Oli. He had told him just moments prior to kicking him in the stomach that Jack was lying to him to get into his pants, that he didn't love him and as soon as he graduated he'd run off to college and forget all about Alex. Alex didn't know how Oli knew that's exactly what Jack was going to do, run off to college and forget about him, but it stung which is why he didn't even try to fight back and instead laid down in the middle of the hall and cried.

Alex didn't know why he was so hurt by the words. Just thinking that all along all of Jack's 'I love you's meant nothing made him feel betrayed. Even if he thought he meant them did he really? If he was leaving Alex to go to college was that really love? Alex didn't want to hold him back, but he was selfish and he needed Jack. He was scared to be left alone again.

He felt himself be pulled up into a standing position and strong arms wrap around his waist. He could smell Jack's cologne and instantly knew it was him and rested his head against his shoulder, letting his body fall limp completely against his boyfriend.

"Can you walk?" Jack asked and sighed when he felt Alex shake his head slowly. Alex felt tears falling down his face. He didn't want to be around Jack and let Jack see him so vulnerable when he'd just leave him later.

"Just let me die here." Alex tried to push away from Jack, but his boyfriend tightened his grip on him and ignored the melodramatics to pull him into his arms bridal style. He held the boy to his chest tightly as he walked silently to Isobel's car that Alex had drove there that morning.

"I'm driving you home." Jack informed, "And I'll make you something to eat and let you and Kitty cuddle up and fall to sleep."

Alex frowned, "Her name is not Kitty." He hated how kind Jack was to him but still somehow found a way to irritate him. Jack rolled his eyes in response, but otherwise ignored the comment.

"We'll watch a movie together, okay? You don't have to go back to school tomorrow. I'll talk to my mom and we can both sleep in, okay?" He sat him down in Alex's passenger seat and gently pressed his nose against the tip of Alex's while Alex tried to wipe the tears from his cheeks.

"Are you going to leave me?" He asked in a whisper making Jack frown and narrow his eyebrows.

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Are you going to leave and forget all about me?" Alex asked a little louder, moving away from Jack as he started to cry again, "Because you're g-going to college, a-and you're going to forget-"

"You don't know what you're talking about, Alex." Jack growled before he sighed and leaned down to rest his forehead against Alex's, "If you'd just listen to me-"

"That's what's going to happen, isn't it?" Alex whimpered, the tears rolling down his cheeks were seemingly never ending. They continued even as Jack tried to wipe them away with his thumb. He hated letting Jack see him cry over him. He hated knowing that Jack knew how much he affected him, "You say you won't but that's what everyone does and you're no different." He hesitated as he pushed Jack's hands away, rubbing his eyes with fisted hands like a small child, "I d-don't want to lose you," He spluttered, "I don't w-want to be alone again."

Jack knew Alex was scared, but he was still annoyed with him for not listening to him. It was pretty funny though, if Jack thought about it, how scared Alex was to lose him (something he'd never admit in any other situation) when he was going nowhere, at least not without the elder tagging along.

"Don't laugh!" Alex whimpered when he noticed Jack's small smile, a fierce blush crossing his face and his eyebrows narrowing as he kicked Jack's thigh, "This-this isn't funny, Jack! Take this seriously! Y-you're le-leaving and then turning around and telling m-me you aren't-"

"Because I'm not leaving you, baby." Jack murmured softly, lacing their fingers together on Alex's lap and ducking down to press a kiss to the skin under his eye, "Look, for the past forever I've been trying to talk to you about everything, like college, and you've just clammed up about it. You're getting all worked up about something that I can assure you isn't going to happen. Can we... I want to take you out on a date this weekend, can we do that? And I'll explain everything if you promise to just listen to me, okay? Let's just be completely honest with each other."

Alex gave a curt nod, using Jack's shoulder to wipe his nose before he whispered, "Oli beat me up again."

Jack sighed, "I know... Three weeks, maybe even less, and we won't have to worry about any of this shit ever again, sugar, I promise."

Alex bit his lip. He wanted to say something about Jack leaving him for college but he decided to keep his mouth shut because obviously Jack had some untold plan he didn't know about somehow. Jack pulled back and cupped his cheek, bringing him forward to slot their lips together softly before breaking apart and saying, "I've got a surprise for you too." He smiled, "I really think you're going to like it. At least, I hope you will." He bit his lip and blushed as he looked down at their intertwined hands, "Anyways, does the beach sound good to you?" Jack knew Alex loved the beach and laughed as he nodded his head vigorously.

Alex had a little surprise for Jack too, if he thought about it. If Jack was explaining everything to him, admitting everything he's been holding captive in his mind, then Alex would too.
