It was the day of the prom, and to say in the least, everyone was beyond excited.
Not quite as excited as Hayley, though. She's practically been skipping down the halls and squealing at random times of the day; screaming about how she wants people to vote for her and Jack for prom queen and king.
Heck, she even dyed half her hair pink, because she said that it would "look fabulous for prom" and it matches her dress.
But she wasn't alone on the hair dye thing. She convinced me and Alex, that it would be cute to both dye our hair and wear the same things to school on the day of prom. At first, we thought her idea was just silly, but I'll admit; I am not regretting this.
Me and Alex both dyed part of our hair blonde, and wore matching shirts, and black skinny jeans. I didn't think twinning with my boyfriend would be so much fun! Now I guess I understand those sappy, cheesy, annoying couples. We just might be one of them.
We got plenty of compliments and "Awwws" and all that jazz. Some people even said that we were so cute together, that they would definitely vote for us.
All the compliments on our relationship, made me feel really happy inside. I love Alex and I being together, and I'm glad that others do, too.
After doing some guitar practice in Music class, the bell rang, signaling that the school day was over.
"Alright, guys! So they're letting me DJ at prom; I expect to see you all there. Go and get all glammed up, I want every single one of you in dresses, tonight!" Flyzik joked, as we all got up and headed out of the door.
We all walked outside to the parking lot; both me and Hayley standing under the arms of our boyfriends.
"So, I say we split up. We can get our hair and nails done and everything, before Jack and I head out to dinner!" Hayley exclaimed.
Jack and Hayley decided they wanted to go out on a dinner date, before they head off to prom. Me and Alex decided we wanted to skip the cliche dinner, and just hang out at the park or somewhere. Just to keep it simple. That's just us.
"Alright well, you ladies better get all sexy for us!" Jack joked, raising his eyebrows up and down.
"Yeah, we'll see you gals, later!" Alex joined in, looking in the direction of Jack's car.
"See ya later." I smirked at him, as he turned to walk past me.

I drove Hayley and I to her house, where she immediately ran up to her room, and began taking out tons of makeup, jewelry, nail polish, and hair products.

She just laughed, and shook her head at me.
"Sooo..will we really be using all of that stuff??" I motioned towards the pile, dumbfounded.
"YES, OF COURSE!! Or at least most of it. Okay, now come on! I wanna do your hair first!!" She rushed me to the bathroom, where she plugged in an iron.
Soon, she was putting big, bouncy curls at the ends of my hair, making the blonde look even better. I admired my long bangs, that swept over my forehead and fell perfectly into place, along with every strand. It was simple, yet gorgeous.
"Oh my gosh!! It's perfect, thank you, Hayl!" I squealed, giving her a hug.

It took us maybe a little over three hours to get ready, but soon after, it was time for us to go out on our pre-prom dates.
When the doorbell rang, we both rushed downstairs and answered the door, revealing a quite dapper-looking Jack and Alex.
Both of their eyes widened at us, while our smiles got bigger.
"Uh..H-Hayley..wow." Jack choked over his words, while examining his girlfriend.
She began to giggle and blush at him.
They're so cute.
But most of my attention was focused on Alex, who's attention was definitely only focused on me, in that moment.

"Well you don't look too bad, yourself." I smirked, adjusting his cute little lavender bowtie.
"Yup, I got all fancy for you. I even did this for you." He pointed to his newly blonde bangs.
"It looks pretty hot, though." I spoke my thoughts, as I fixed a few of his blonde strands with my fingers.
"It's probably cause I'm matching with you." He grinned, wrapping his arm around my waist as we walked.
"Oh, shut up." I looked down, trying to hide my furious blush.
"Aw, you're cute."
"No, you're cute."
"And we still continue to get cheesier and cheesier, everyday!" He laughed.
"It's true, we are officially the cheesiest of all couples!" I joked along with him.
"Hey, I think I know what we're wearing for Halloween, this year!" He laughed, motioning between our outfits.
"Yeah, we'll be so royal...and cheesy."
"Royally cheesy."
"The cheesiest of all royalties."
"Bow down to us!"
We both ended up in a fit of laughter, at our dumb little jokes.
"So, you ready to go?" We stopped walking, and he turned to me.
"Yeah, ready if you are!" I gave him a kiss, and followed him over to the car.

We looked around the room in awe.
The Great Gatsby themed decor of the prom looked absolutely amazing.
"Wow, confetti. How fun." I commented on the confetti-covered ground, as we walked in.
Loud music blared through the speakers, which was surprisingly good music. Thank God for Flyzik.
We walked over to where we saw Rian and Zack with their dates, which I remember from Music class.
I believe their names are Cassadee and Avril?
We greeted them beside the dance floor, and began conversing.
"Oh my gosh, you guys looked totally adorable in school today, with your matching outfits and stuff!" Avril fangirled at us, causing us to laugh.
Alex wrapped his arm around my waist, and kissed my hair; causing Avril and Cass to "aww" at us some more.
"You know what I think?? This is some publicity stunt! You just wanna get prom couple, don't you?" Rian joked, narrowing his eyes at us, suspiciously.
"Woops! You caught us!" Alex joked along with him, holding his hands up in surrender.
"Well, may the best couple win." Zack nodded, before taking Avril off to the dance floor.
Alex turned to me and shrugged.
"Want to?" He asked, motioning his head towards the crowd of dancing bodies to our right.
I shrugged.
"I'm kind of a bad dancer..." I looked down at my strappy heels, and felt my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
"Me too. Let's do it." He grinned.
"Nooo Alex! We'll look like idiots!" I giggled nervously, at him.
"But we'll look like idiots...together!" He joked, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the dance floor.
"Come on!"
"Fine!" I grinned and rolled my eyes, before walking with him.
He held both of my hands in his, and we just awkwardly swayed a little, as the song that was playing began to fade out.
Then, I heard the intro to my favorite song at the moment; Centuries, by Fall Out Boy.
I gasped and smiled wide at Alex, before singing along with the first verse.
"Some legends are told, some turn to dust or to gold, but you will remember meee! Remember meee for centuries!!!"
Alex chuckled, and began to sing along with me.
"And just one mistake, is all it will take.. We'll go down in historyy! Remember meee for centuries!!"
We both broke out into some strange, unattractive dance moves at the little breakdown after the chorus. We looked like a pair of awkward, dying chickens, but we didn't care.
We were having way too much fun, just being free together, without a single care in the world. Free to just not give a fuck. And I loved every second of it.
Alex makes me feel invincible.

We danced, or at least attempted to dance, through a few more upbeat songs, before we got a bit tired, and decided to give it a rest.
"You want a drink?" Alex offered me.

Cassadee beamed, her smile getting even bigger as she told her story about Rian.

Just as Cassadee opened her mouth to respond, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned around to see a tall, Hispanic guy, smiling down at me.

"Aye man, whatever! I don't want her, anyway!" Mike held his hands up in surrender, as Alex roughly let go of his collar; pushing him back in the process.
Mike stumbled back a bit, before shaking his head and shamefully exiting the room.
The people around us continued to stare, before looking away and continuing to talk and dance amongst themselves, when they realized the whole dispute ended.
Alex turned back to me, and his eyes went from anger and rage, to worry and love.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you? I swear if anybody touches you like that again, I'll-"
"I'm okay, Alex." I reassured him, wrapping my arms around his neck and pulling him in for a hug, which he gladly returned.

"Hey, are you guys okay?!"
We pulled apart and turned around, to see Hayley running over with a worried look on her face, and Jack on her tail.
"I heard about a fight! Is everything alright?!?" Hayley shrieked.

"Okay, good! What happened?" Hayley asked, with wide eyes.
"Some guys are pigs who can't keep their hands to themselves." Cassadee answered for us, crossing her arms.

The current song that was playing, ended, and the room filled with Flyzik's voice.

Cassadee went off in search of Rian, and I turned to face Alex; as I Miss You, by Blink-182, filled the room.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around Alex's neck, as he did the same to my waist.
We just took small steps, leaning side to side, in time with the song.

We slow danced to three more songs, before a teacher stepped onto the stage, and cleared her throat over the microphone; getting everyone's attention.
"Okay everybody! It is time to announce this year's, Dulaney Prom Queen and King!"
The crowd erupted into cheers of excitement.
"Alright, settle down! Now, we will announce the queen, first!"
Me and Hayley exchanged glances, and smirked at each other.
The lady reached her hand into the box of names, and took out a slip of paper.
"And the Dulaney prom queen is....Lisa Ruocco!! Come on up, Lisa!" She clapped, as everyone else started clapping with her.
Hayley gave me a puzzled look, and I returned it.
How did Lisa get prom queen?? I didn't even know she had a boyfriend!!

The teacher placed the tiara on her head, and then returned to the mic, to say the second name on the paper.

He placed the mic back down on the stand, and looked out into the crowd until he spotted me, and held my eyes.
"That's my queen." He grinned, pointing to me.
He took off the crown, and got off the stage; leaving Lisa and the teacher looking as shocked as ever. The crowd cleared a path, as he walked over to me.
He took my hands in his, and smiled at me, while I just looked up at him; dumbfounded.
"You did not just do that.." I whispered, still shocked from what just happened.
It was as if it came out of a movie!
"I did!" He chuckled, before looking over at Flyzik, and giving him a nod.
Flyzik shrugged, and began playing a familiar, slow song.
"This is our dance." Alex whispered, with his forehead on mine, as he placed his hands on my hips.
