Time Bomb

When we finally got to take Aspen home everyone met us at the house for a formal meeting. I guess not too formal since she is only two days old, I looked down at her while she was sleeping in my arms and I couldn’t help but awe. She was this tiny perfect little girl, I didn’t think I could love anyone more than I love Alex but it happened. Alex walked over to me and smiled, I looked up at him.
“How are you feeling?” He asked
“I didn’t think my heart would feel this full Lex.” I said
“I know, I’ve thought you were the best thing to happen to me and now we together have made the best thing.” He said
“When she gets older you guys are going to have your work cut out for you.” Jack said walking into the room.
“I know, god she’s going to look like Ry and act like me. We’re screwed.” He said
“She’s going to be a good girl. It’s Anette that’s going to be a hellion. Especially now since Barakat is playing dad.” Mack said walking in with her daughter.
“Oh god.” I laughed.
Anette walked over to me, she was pushing three already and I wasn’t ready for her to be so big. She walked right up to Jack and he picked her up.
“Hi muffin.” He said
She smiled at him and looked down at Aspen.
“Do you want to come sit with her while she’s sleeping?” I asked
She gave me a short nod and Jack set her down, she walked over to me and sat on the couch next to me.
“This is Aspen.” I said
She smiled down at her.
“Hi.” She squeaked.
I looked up at Mack and she just had a smile on her face, Aspen started to wiggle so I looked down at her and those beautiful greens opened but so did her mouth. She started crying telling me that it was my cue to feed her.
“I’m going to go to our room to feed her, I’ll be back down in a few.” I said
“Alright baby, the others are on their way. I’ll come knock lightly when they get here.” He said
I nodded and ushered for Mack to follow, I didn’t care to feed her in front of my best friend.
“What’s up?” She asked
“Nothing, it’s just been a pretty chaotic couple of days and I wanted to see how you were feeling.” I said
“I’m good, how are you feeling? You’re the one who just had a baby.” She said
“I’m sore but I’m happy she’s here.” I said
I looked down at my princess as she gnawed off my nipple, this was by far the oddest part. I was happy to do it for her while she’s little but I think I’m going to transition her over to a bottle.
“She’s just so beautiful. I remember when Anette was this small.” She said
“I know me too, almost like it was yesterday. You’re life has changed so much, one Jack at a time.” I smiled.
“Shut up, I love him.” She said
“Oh.” I said
“I didn’t say that out loud.” She said
“You did, awe Mack.” I said
“Sh.” She said
“Not ready to say it?” I asked
“I am but is he?” She asked
“I think he is but give him some time, he’s not been in a good relationship in a long time.” I said
“I know, and I threw a kid into the mix. Crazy.” She said
“He has always loved that little girl and you know it.” I laughed.
She nodded and sat down on the bed.
“I need to stay away from this baby but I can’ttt.” She laughed.
“Somebody has a bad case of baby fever.” I taunted.
“Definitely not ready for that.” She stated
“Mack.” I said
“Yeah?” She asked
“Alex wanted to wait to ask until the group is here but would you want to be the god mom? We’re asking Jack to be the god dad.” I said
“I was going to be offended if you didn’t ask me that.” She said
“I thought so.” I smiled.
She kissed my cheek and looked down at Aspen.
“I’ve got some stuff in my bag for your nipples, cause they’re going to be so sore and chaff.” She said
“Oh you’re the best.” I said
She smiled at me and laid back on the bed.
“I was thinking about getting a dog.” She said
“You’re a cat person.” I said
“I know but I love Balt and Jack likes dogs.” She said
“I mean I think it would be great for Ane.” I said
“That’s what I was thinking but what kind?” She asked
“I’ll go to the shelter with you and help you pick one out.” I said
“You’re the best.” She smiled.
When Aspen was finished I burped her and pulled my shirt back up, Alex hadn’t knocked yet so I just hung out with my baby and my bestie.
When Alex finally knocked it was good timing, I had just changed her diaper. Mack and I got up and walked downstairs, our living room was packed with our band families. Vic and Kellin had Cope who was about to turn four, her and Anette were the best of friends.
“There she is.” Vic said jogging up to me and immediately taking Aspen from me.
“What did you guys name her?” Kellin asked.
“Aspen Rose.” I said
The whole room just awed. I walked over to Alex and wrapped my arms around his waist.
“Let’s welcome our new chapter.” I smiled.
“Look at her big family.” He said
“I know, she’s going to have a good life.” I said
He leaned down and kissed the top of my head.
“I can’t wait for her to be six weeks old.” He said
“That’s an odd age to be excited for.” I said
“Not for her, I can pork you again.” He laughed.
“Oh you’re gross.” I said slapping his arm.
“I know. My body is deprived.” He snorted.
“I’ll help you out later.” I said looking up at him and winking.
“Oh baby.” He laughed.
I looked out at all of our friends cooing over our new princess, my heart felt full for the first time in my entire life and I couldn’t be happier. Jack had Anette in one arm and Mack wrapped up in the other, she was looking up at him smiling. She looked so happy and that made me happy.
After everybody left the house Alex and I laid Aspen in her crib and slowly back out of her room. He looked at me and smiled.
“I can’t believe we have a princess.” He said as we walked down into the living room.
“I know we’re parents.” I laughed as I set up the baby monitor so I could keep an eye on her.
He laughed and turned the TV on, Balt trotted up and laid on the floor by the front door.
“He’s doing good with her.” Lex said as he found a movie on Netflix.
“I knew he would be. Lexy I don’t want to watch that.” I said
“Oh we wont be watching anything.” He said winking at me.
“Good ole fashion high school make out sess?” I asked
He nodded and flipped the lights out, grabbed the couch blanket and tuned on the movie. I snuggled into him and he wrapped us up in the blanket. I reached up and kissed him.
“Now we can kiss without my balloon belly getting in the way.” I smiled.
“It was never in the way.” He said
I rolled my eyes because I knew he couldn’t see it.
We started to heavily make out and Alex was getting very excited, I looked over at the monitor making sure she was still asleep, when she was I undid his belt and shoved my hand down the front of his pants. His breathing labored as I slowly moved my hand up and down him. I threw the blanket over my head and made him pull his jeans down, I took him into my mouth. He grabbed my hair as I was making his night… that’s when Aspen decided to wake up. Alex sighed as I sat up.
“Welcome to parenting. I’ll be back to don’t finish without me.” I winked.
He groaned and I just chuckled to go check on our daughter.
