Me Without You
Not Enough Jasey (Day 38-46)
“Jasey?” Vic’s voice was calm but questioning as I jumped back into the bus. “What’s going on?” I slumped down on the couch next to Vic and let a frustrated tear spill down my cheek.
“I’m lost, Vic. I don’t know what to do anymore.” I sighed, leaning my head on my big brothers shoulder as he wrapped an arm around me. “I love him. I love them, all of them.”
“I know, Jess told me.” Vic giggled at my annoyed expression. “Hey, you would have told me anyway. We’ve saved time.” I rolled my eyes and let out a frustrated groan.
“If I pick Mike, I could ruin the relationship between the bands if the boys hold grudges against it. If I pick Zack, Jack or Alex I could tear All Time Low apart.” Vic rubbed his hand u my arm and started to laugh. “What’s so funny?”
“You, well… you could always go for Tony.” Vic guffawed and I jumped up from the couch.
“No.” I stuttered. “No, not another one. Tony… Vic…” Vic grabbed my hand and tried to calm his laughing.
“I was joking!” He gasped out. “Tony thinks of you like a sister. Breathe, Jasey.” I slapped him over the shoulder before slamming back down on the seat.
“Ass.” I grumbled as he hugged me.
“You’ll figure it out Jase. For now just let it go where it goes. Spend the same amount of time with all of them. Sleep in your own bunk, keep your relationships platonic until you decide.” I smiled at my big brother and kissed his cheek.
“I love you, Viccy.” He smiled and shooed me away.
“Go help with set up, techie.” I poked my tongue out at him as I went to find some clothing.
“I’m not a tech, I just like helping unlike your lazy ass.” I giggled as I pulled out a pair of acid jeans and a plain purple singlet.
“Hey! I’ve helped nearly every day of this tour.” Vic defended as I pulled the clothes on.
“Calm down, pequeño.” I laughed. Picking on Vic was one of my favourite pastimes.
“Pequeño? Watch your mouth, muchacha.” I threw him a wink as I pulled on my vans. One of the skills you learn when you spend a lot of time with a band is that of speed changing, and I had it nailed. I ran off the bus and waved down Matt in the van.
“You going to venue?” I asked. The bus wasn’t going back until they had cleaned up the car park, which the four scolded boys were currently doing. Matt nodded and I jumped in the passenger seat. “Thanks.”
“Just wanted to get out of there?” Matt enquired and I shrugged. He pretty much had it down. I pushed my dark hair into a ponytail and pondered what Vic had said. He was right, I needed to slow it down with the boys and keep it platonic with all of them until I got my thoughts straight. Jesus, only god knows how long that will be.
*One week later*
I sat on the edge of the lake as the boys made the most of the winds and sailed around the waters. I wasn’t very fond of open water and more than happily stayed with my feet planted on the ground. Virginia was a pretty state, I wish I had come here as a kid, I would have loved the camping.
Zack waved at me from where he emerged from the forest edge. I eyed up his camera and couldn’t help but running to snatch it off him. I loved photography, it was one of the things Zack and I had bonded over in high school.
“Over exposed image!” I teased as I flicked through the images. Zack reached out to grab the camera out of my hands but I flicked the strap over my neck and dodged him just in time. “Oh, that one’s pretty. Shame about the lighting.” I grinned as he started to curse me and chased me around the lake edge. I knew he could easily catch me and was going easy, but I liked to think I was winning. “Zackary!” I yelled as I jumped on top of a boulder. “The subject matter is out of focus!” I smiled down at him from my perch. “I expected more from you.”
“Alright, that’s it.” He grumbled, flicking me over his shoulder fireman style.
“The camera!” I squealed as I dangled over his back and he waded into the shallows. “Zack!!”
“What did you say about my photography, Roberts?” He snarled menacingly and walked another step deeper.
“You’re crap!” I giggled as he took another step. “Ah! Zack the camera!”
“What did you say?”
“I love you! You’re photography is bloody excellent and I aspire to be like you one day!” I squealed as he turned and ran back towards the shore. He let me down gently and pulled me into a hug, kissing the top of my head.
“That’s what I thought.” Zack slid the camera from around my neck and placed it back in his bag and shoved it in the van. I punched his shoulder playfully as the boys returned the boats at the jetty.
“It’s nearly four.” Jack announced as he approached us. “We should probably head back.” We all agreed and piled back into the van. I squished between Rian and Zack in the back seat of the van, yawning. Zack snaked his arm around me and pulled me to his side. I let my head fall against his shoulder as I drifted off on the ride back to the venue.
I woke being cradled in Zack’s arms as he carried me from the van to the bus.
“Sleeping Beauty joins the world of the living.” He laughed as he placed me down.
“Hey, some of us got minimal sleep last night.” I complained, wiping the underneath of my eyes to remove any smudged make-up.
“I slept like a baby.” Zack smiled and I glared at him.
“I know. You’re snoring let everyone know.” He laughed and squeezed my shoulders.
I got ready to walk on stage before an arm grabbed my arm and took the mic.
“Please.” I turned around to see Cassadee beaming.
“Cass?” I questioned. Why was she here? Did Rian know? “What are you doing here?”
“I came to surprise Rian. You and Evan are the only ones who know I’m here.” I giggled and noted the ear piece she was wearing. Rian was hiding behind his drum kit, no doubt recording a keek.
“Go ahead. This should be entertaining.” I watched as Alex’s face turned to pure confusion as a voice that wasn’t mine filled the venue. Cass stepped out into the light and the crowd went wild and Rian… well he didn’t stay hidden for very long. He jumped out from behind his drum set and ran out onto the stage, wrapping his arms around Cass as she sang. The fans screamed with excitement as I grabbed Danny’s mic in a hurry and carried on singing while Cass was attacked by the rest of the band apart from Alex who managed to keep playing. As Alex strummed the last chord Kurily grabbed the acoustic as the group hug surrounding Cass got bigger.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Cassadee Pope.” I laughed into the mic.
“So, I’ve heard a lot about you.” Cass giggled as we watched the rest of the set from side-stage.
“Oh dear, that’s never good.” I laughed, wondering what on earth Rian had shared.
“The famous Jasey-Rae Roberts. You know, they are all totally in love with you.” She mused while she watched Rian play, the excitement from the sudden appearance of his girlfriend still evident on his face.
“Jess enlightened me.” I groaned, not knowing where on the stage to look.
“What are you gonna do?” It felt weird, talking to someone I hardly knew about my love life. But then again, Cass probably knew the insides and out of my personality and my life thanks to the boys. I sighed, mulling the situation over. “Do you know?”
“Seriously, I have no idea.” Cass laughed and pulled me in for a one armed hug.
“Well, I’ll be watching from now on.” She wiggled her eyebrows at me. “I’ve been conspiring with Matt all tour. I finished up my shows last night and flew straight here.” I loved how dedicated Cass and Rian were to each other. They seemed to be perpetually honeymooning and it was adorable. They had the prefect relationship and I was caught between four men who I all loved dearly.
“I’m becoming a nun.” I sighed.
