A Day Outside (Jack POV)
Jack POV
“Lex, are you ready to go?” I shouted through the house. It was a nice day and we were planning on going to a little lake not for from our home.
“Yes Jacky, just a second!” Alex replied while hurrying through the house, carrying various objects with him. I got hold of his arm and stopped him.
“Hold on. Just one thing. I want you to leave your medication at home today,” I requested. His face fell but he forced a half-smile back on.
“What do you mean?” he asked innocently. I sighed and pulled him down on the couch.
“You know what I mean. The little bottle of pills you take with you wherever you go.”
“No I… I…” he stuttered, tears forming in his eyes. I stepped closer and hugged him softly.
“Shh, little mushroom. I saw you carrying it around with you all the time.”
“But I don’t take it frequently, it’s just in case of an emergency,” he sniffled.
“It’s okay, I’m just a bit worried about you,” I replied, rubbing circles into his back while he cried.
“I’m just scared something will happen and it helps so much,” he added. I nodded, continuing to calm him down. After some time, he looked me in the eyes and spoke.
“Jack, I won’t take it with me today. For you. But I want you to know that it makes me feel vulnerable and exposed…” I smiled. I was so happy Alex was ready to take this step.
“I promise I will look out for you, little mushroom. I love you and I am very proud of you,” I promised. Alex smiled too, only a little bit but it was genuine. He kissed me shyly and we got up.
“So, got your trunks and all? I’ll be waiting in the car!” I said, winking at him.
When we arrived at the lake, Alex was relaxed and happy. He joked around with me which I had missed; he was so funny if he wanted to be. The lake was pretty abandoned; maybe ten people were here besides us. We slipped into our swimming trunks and got on the jetty. I was just admiring the scenery of the lake, the crystal clear water and the beautiful willows surrounding the lake when I felt a push between my shoulder blades.
I was just able to let out a welp before I hit the water. The water was cold and I tried to get out as fast as possible. I climbed back up on the jetty to wrestle a bit with Alex who was laughing like a maniac before succeeding in pushing him into the lake too. But I jumped in after his head was up again, making sure not to jump on him. I shrieked a bit at the temperature but Alex was quick to cut me off by holding me underwater. When I got out again, I kissed him.
I whispered, “I love you Lex,” and held him tight, keeping both our heads out of the water by doing swimming moves with my legs. “Wanna swim to the island in the middle?” I asked. He nodded and we started. I soon realized he was struggling a bit so I got slower and looked at him.
“You okay?” I asked, worrying a bit. He nodded, looking a bit pale. “Lex, I want you to tell me if something is wrong,” I said. I swam up to him and let him grab my shoulder, holding him up.
“I’m just a bit scared of the fish to be honest, I heard stories about them,” he confessed, looking ashamed. I smiled. This was so cute.
“Lex, they are just fish. They can’t hurt you,” I replied. Okay I had seen them and they were quite big but I didn’t need to tell Alex that. “Look, I will swim right next to you and the fish won’t get near you. If they do, you can hold onto my back and I will protect you. Like a baby turtle.”
He smiled shyly and nodded. So I swam by his side, ready to react at any second. He glanced suspiciously at the water from time to time but nothing happened and we reached the centre island after some time.
I helped him get up the wooden pontoon and we laid there. We were alone on the island, just thw two of us on the sun-warmed wood. I enjoyed the smell of wet wood. I lazily rolled over to Alex.
“I love you,” I said, pecking him on the lips. He got hold of my face and pulled me back for some more. We kissed for a bit, tongues intertwining, lips dancing before we decided to leave again. I managed to make a perfect jackknife-dive .
I saw Alex hesitating a bit before he jumped in. He started swimming right away, probably to get this over with as fast as possible. I stayed by his side. All of a sudden, he shrieked and frantically paddled to me. I offered him my back.
“Shh, they are just fish. They can’t do anything,” I reassured him. He was breathing hard and fast. I turned myself around and swam quickly, applying a technique which I had once learned in my lifesaving class at school; swimming on my back with Alex’s head on my chest, holding him by his head. I safely swam to the shore and pulled him out. He seemed to be fine, scrambling to get out of the water and a bit breathless but fine otherwise.
“You are such a cutie,” I said, walking up to him. I lead him to the place where we had left our towels and got one out, laid it around his skinny frame and started rubbing. He soon continued to do it by himself and I dried myself off too. We laid down in the sun for a bit more.
Before we left, we pick-nicked. I had prepared some sandwiches and we happily munched away. I avoided throwing any bread into the lake although I would have loved too, just so no fish would come and freak Alex out. I fed him some grapes, he giggled adorably. God, how I loved this boy!
We got back home when the sun was already kissing the horizon and quickly got into bed, we were both dog-tired. I curled up behind Alex, one of my arms draped over his waist, my legs tangled with his.
“I love you, Alex.”
“I love you too, Jack.”
He hadn’t even realized he had forgotten to take his pill and I was pretty sure that tonight was going to be different. I fell asleep with a smile on my lips.

aaahh I really don't know? I get so bad with sequels, I still haven't finished Chased by the Future and also I'm really into Homeless right now.
I guess I can maybe make one chapter as a sequel and post it in here if I find the time to do so if more people want me to do it? :)
