I had been in the hospital for quite a few hours now and I was bored out of my mind. The only thing I could do was look at Alex breathing. At first, it had been really exciting to watch his chest go up and down after it being still for some time but it got less exciting as time passed. So I watched his beard stubble against the light. Then I held his hand and took his pulse for ages. But now I had done so many things and I was just bored.

When I was about to groan in frustration, a doctor and a nurse came in. The doctor held a clipboard and scribbled down some notes while the nurse was taking Alex’s vitals and mumbling them to her. Then the doctor turned around to me.

“How are you doing?” she asked me friendlily.

“I’m pretty bored but fine,” I replied.

“Well, soon, you won’t be bored anymore because your boyfriend is ready to wake up now! We will take him with us now and you can have him back shortly!” she explained, a smile forming on her face when mine lit up.

“Take good care of him!” I demanded. She nodded and they unclasped the brakes on Alex’s bed before wheeling him off.

It was a waiting game again. I was filled with excitement about getting Alex back but simultaneously fear about him not waking up or him being devastated when he would wake up after this failed suicide attempt. I was pretty sure it was suicide by now.

So I waited. I counted the wrinkles on the fingers of my left hand. I tried to lick the tip of my nose. I played with my hair. I thought about jerking off but didn’t do it because the chances of someone coming in were just too big. So I played with my hair for some more. Until finally the door opened.

The nurse from before rolled in Alex. He was pale and still asleep but his eyelids were fluttering. I gasped and burst into tears. Alex. My little mushroom (I had given him that name some time back, I thought it was adorable which he, quite frankly, did not think). They rolled the bed next to me and the nurse came over after they fixed my brakes to tell me it was ok to take my IV out now. He took it out and I was relieved because it meant I could walk around slowly, which meant I could sit by Alex’s side and watch him wake up.

“He’ll probably wake up soon. Call us when he has so we can do anything he might need to get done.”

The hospital staff left and I got up. I was a little lightheaded but I didn’t care. I slowly sat down at Alex’s bedside and took his hand in mine. His eyelids started fluttering more at the touch.
“Alex, wakey wakey,” I whispered. He opened one eye a tiny bit. Then the other. Then he opened them slowly a bit more, looking at me. I grinned, this was one of the best feelings in the entire world; it felt like my heart was going to explode.

“Elo ‘Ack,” he slurred, still intoxicated from all the medication. It was kind of cute though.

I kissed his cheek and lied down beside him, snuggling close to my adorable boyfriend. He was still very tired and we both fell asleep quickly, now that the stress and the pressure had fallen off me.

OKAY just a quick thing I want to say. I like you all a lot and I'm happy so many people read this story but I want some more feedback. I want to know what you expect, any mistakes you find, whatever you think of this. Because it's not real fun to write something when you feel like only a few care enough to comment to just shortly say something.
