I wish I could

I had found the perfect source for getting the pills. An online shop, cheap and discreet. I had three bottles stashed at my place as well as a little one to always carry with me.

I took the pills each evening before I went to sleep and whenever things got too much for me, I took one or two as well.

One evening, we were just sitting together at Jack’s place, Zack, Rian, Jack and me, when suddenly the doorbell rang. We mused who that could be when Jack opened the door to find a very drunk and angry Matt.

Instantly, fear started rushing through me. Matt didn’t even say hello, he hit Jack in the face immediately. Jack was down and before I had thought about it, I was already next to him and tried pulling Matt off him. Matt tried to hit me as well and he succeeded. He delivered a hard punch to my right-hand side of my chest and slapped the right side of my face. I let go within seconds. Flashbacks of the buss hitting me from the right were starting to invade my mind but I managed to get to my bottle. Hurriedly, I poured a few into my palm and swallowed them. Then, I proceeded to run for Jack’s bed to breathe in his scent in order to calm myself. On his bed, I buried myself in the blanket until I formed a perfect blanket burrito. I heard the other’s voices coming closer until the bedroom door burst open and Jack stumbled inside.

“Alex! Are you okay?” he asked panickedly. I turned around to see him with a bruise already forming around his eye and his t-shirt torn in some places.

“Jacky… I am so sorry I just left,” I said, “I just couldn’t handle it.” Tears started running down my cheeks and I looked into his eyes. I was ashamed.

“Shh, Lex. It’s okay. I understand you were scared,” he replied soothingly. “Would you have some space left in your bed to accommodate me?”

The pill was starting to work and I got tired. Things blurred and everything got very calm. I only felt his arms wrap around me after I told him that I would be okay and then I fell asleep.

I'm really not sure if I like this chapter. Anyways, could you tell me what your guesses are how Alex will develop?
