I wish I could

I was bursting with joy. Alex and I spent the night in his bunk, cuddling. The next morning, I woke up and he was still there. This must be heaven. I wriggled out of the bed to surprise him with breakfast in bed and made my way to the kitchen. I put some bacon into a pan and hummed some tunes to myself while grilling it. When it was done, I made some coffee and put the bacon on a plate.

I traipsed back to the bunk and poked Alex gently to wake him up. He did and he looked adorable with his messy hair, sleepy eyes and bit of stubble. I kissed him good morning and handed him his plate.

“Aw Jacky thank you!” he said with his raspy voice which made him even cuter. He started eating and I wanted to kiss his stupidly cute face, this level of cuteness was not adorable anymore.

I was the happiest I had been in months, years even. This man was all I needed.
Later on, we went out to the city for some sightseeing. It was a little city in France and the tour would end tomorrow, our flight was in a little more than 24 hours.

I knew the city a bit so I showed Alex around. We wandered the old town, Alex squealing every time he saw one of the hundreds of cats. He insisted on petting every single one of them and I was sure he’d get fleas; I actually teased him quite a bit about it even though I thought it was adorable.

For lunch, we ate in a tiny restaurant, called “Le Chat”. Alex had chosen it because there had been a cat on the sign and I had told him that chat was French for cat. We sat down on a beautiful terrace, overlooking some fields of salt. I had read that people here got sea salt by putting the water into fields, closing them off and then letting the sun do its work, evaporating all the water until only salt was left. Alex was amazed by it and he couldn’t stop staring.

We ordered a big plate of “Pâtes aux tomates”, basically just a bowl of spaghetti with loads of tomato sauce and cheese. To drink, we had some water and a white wine. I fed Alex with the spaghettis and we each took one end of one spaghetti and sucked on it until out mouths met and we kissed. Luckily, we were alone on the terrace.

After having eaten our pasta, we ordered a “Tarte Tatin”, probably the thing I like most about French food. It was an apple pie, but not just an ordinary apple pie, it had some special magic to it. Alex loved it too and we ended up getting one packed up for later.

It was time to return to the bus and get packed. We went hand in hand, occasionally giving each other a peck on the lips.

After packing, it was time to sleep. I fed Alex a bit of the leftover cake before going to bed. Then I had an idea.

“Lex, would you want to try something?” I asked.

“Yeah, what is it?” he asked back cautiously.

“I just thought that maybe, you’d try sleeping without taking a pill today. I’m here for you, you can always wake me up, and who knows, maybe my presence keeps he nightmares away,” I proposed, equally careful.

“I don’t know Jack…”

“Lex, give it a try. I promise you can take a pill if you get nightmares and you can also punch me if you do have any. Trust me,” I replied.

“Hm… I’m really not keen on this but if you insist,” he retorted nervously. I hugged him tight and smiled, kissing him gently on the forehead.

“You can do this Lex. I am so proud of you.”

I'm not so sure about this chapter. But I guess it's fluffy :)
