Terrible Things

Telling the unwanted.

There was something wrong with Carrie. After she had got back from seeing Tay yesterday she had been nervous and jumpy.
"Baby, are you okay?" She snuggled closer to me in the bunk and sighed. "I take that as a no. A.. Are you changing your mind?" Her face shot up to meet mine.
"No!" She looked pained, worried and hurt. "I have to tell my dad." Oh, that explained a lot. "I text Roland this morning, he's excited, even though i haven't seen him since." I pulled her tight and let her curl into my chest.
"You don't have to tell him, Carrie." I stroked the hair off her face. "Its not like you'd want him at the wedding anyway." She shook her head and I nodded. "See, Roland will tell him. You'll be perfect without him, just you and me. You're a Fuentes now, Care Bear, not a Peters. You'll soon be a Gaskarth. You have more than enough family around you. You can forget about that part of your life now." I kissed the top of her head and held her as she fell asleep.

ONE WEEK LATER

Carrie gave me a questioning look as we pulled up outside an unfamiliar house after our small home show in Baltimore. I tried to hide the smile on my face. We had been together for long enough but we never moved in together, we spent too much time apart from each other due to the bands that it never really crossed my mind.
"Alex? Where are we?" I couldn't help it. I broke out in a massive grin and pulled the matching keys out of my pocket. Carrie squealed and jumped out of her seat belt to hug me. "Oh my god, Alex!" I laughed as I pushed her off me and got out of the car to open her door. I had spent our free day yesterday arranging the furniture with Jack, claiming I was visiting old friends while Carrie went shopping with Tay. Carried gabbed a key and ran up the stone path to the door. "It's huge!" That was true. It had two stories, with five bedrooms two bathrooms and a large back yard. I was preparing for all future eventualities with this house, and the first one was waiting inside with Jack. Carrie jammed the key into the bolt and squealed when she saw the front lounge and kitchen. Jack came walking down the oak staircase with a box in his arms, smiling. Carried turned to look at me and when I nodded towards the box she ran to Jack and flicked off the lid, exposing the panting puppy. "Alex! Really?" Jack and I started to bawl with laughter at her excitement, proud that out work yesterday had paid off. The small dog jumped out of Carrie's hands and started running around the floor space. I had scoured every pet store for an Australian shepherd puppy before I found one on ebay, I had brought it and picked it up within the same hour.
"It's a girl." I grabbed Carrie by the waist and pulled her to me, the puppy jumping around our feet. "Her name's Miri, after your mom." She beamed at me, tears glistening in her eyes. "Wait, those are happy right?" She nodded and kissed me on the cheek before pulling out her phone to take a photo of the puppy.

CARRIE POV

I broke away from Alex and grabbed my phone so I could instagram the puppy.
Thanks to my amazing fiance @awgaskarth for my new puppy Miri! AND MY NEW HOUSE!!!!
My phone started buzzing instantly with replies. I like a couple of the first ones and slid my phone back into my pocket before jumping on Alex. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I yelled as I wrapped my legs around his waist, kissing his face. I smiled at Jack as he backed out the front door, commenting on how he'd leave us to 'break-in' the house. Alex pressed his lips to mine and walked us across the room and threw me onto the couch.
"Don't get excited." He pulled me to my feet and grabbed a tablet off the coffee table. "We still have to go on a tour." I groaned as Alex started pressing buttons. His signature half-smile appeared as a TV rose out of the wooden floor. "I didn't want it to get broken at parties." Our TV came out of the floor... holy shit. He pressed more buttons and lights turned on along the stairs and throughout the room. Alex took my hand and walked me to the kitchen, sliding his hand across the counter top of the island. When his hand swept across and area it lit up, screens? "Touch pad counter tops." Alex winked at me. What? Was the house gonna start talking next? "They're complete computers. And you can transfer the screen onto that one on the wall, to show everyone." He pointed to the silver square in the middle of the black tiling. I thought it was an oddly placed mirror. Alex led me out of the kitchen area and started up the stairs. "All that's left on the bottom floor is the garage and bottom bathroom. I'll show you the garage last." A mischievous grin accompanied the statement and my mind ran through all the possibilities of why it would be last. He pushed open the first door to show a red and white guest bedroom, the second door held a music room and the third was green and brown, elaborately painted with different jungle animals. A wooden crib was nestled in the corner and the entire room was a ready decked out nursery.
"Oh my god, Alex." I had no idea when he had put this together. "You built a nursery?"

Comments

This story is so good! OMG. I just found it and started reading it yesterday, and haven't stopped. I just caught up with all of the updates you have of it and really love it.
It's a very dark fan fic. Specifically with the first half, honestly one of the darkest I've read actually... like with that curse of everything happening on Sundays? Man... and you just kind of kept it up too. It was just very dark, and sad, but... different. And I really like that about this.
The second half seems to be deviating from that a little bit, but I sensed that coming back with the babies thing. I mean, not that I want anything to happen, but I almost feel you had something bad happening planned with the pregnancy. Perhaps not, perhaps that was just to raise some of the tone as opposed to keeping it happy go lucky, who knows. But I found it interesting how you did that.
I'm glad that Alex and Carrie finally got together, with the first part of this I was just screaming GET TOGETHER until they finally did. lol. And I was happy. :)
I found it a bit odd how they just took in those fans though. On a realistic writing level, the oddity of this story was the curse thing. But adding the fans thing in too, it just... it didn't really fit. Especially considering legalities and all of that. I feel like it was a little too easy that they gained guardianship.
But overall, I have enjoyed Alex and Carrie's love story. I'm sad to see it was never finished, so I'm leaving this comment to let you know if you ever do choose to finish it, I will be here to read, for sure. I'd love to see how it all ends for these two. Even if it's just a final chapter wrap up or something; I understand what it's like losing inspiration.
But yeah, sorry if this comment sounded harsh at all, but just wanted to leave my honest thoughts. I think you're a truly great writer, though, and hope you have at least kept up with it in your free time. :)
