Terrible Things and Raven's Games
“What's up, Paris!” Alex screamed through the mic and I couldn't help but cheering. We were fucking in Paris. It was the second to last stop before London and then we were back into the USA to do a home show in Baltimore. The fans screamed as the boys jumped into Backseat Serenade. The tour had been huge. We Are The In Crowd opened for Chloe's smile and we played a decent set before All Time Low. Between us we managed to sell out every single show. Alex smiled at me from the stage and I waved at him. My heart still fluttered when he looked at me.
“So guys,” Alex addressed to crowd as the song came to an end. “You all know who Carrie Fuentes is, right?” Tay and I laughed as the crowd screamed and Jack ran side stage toward us.
“You're gonna want to pay attention.” He whispered before returning to Alex's side. I looked at Tay, confused, and she simply shrugged. By now both of our bands had appeared in either side of the stage, all looking at me expectantly.
“Baby, you wanna come out here?” I walked slowly to Alex's side while the crowd roared and gave him a quick kiss before Danny ran out and handed me a mic. We were singing? “Now, Carrie and I have a tenancy to turn songs into cute little duets, I want to perform one.” I stared at Alex. What? I wasn't prepared! “This song is by Mayday Parade.” The crowd screamed louder. “This one's called Terrible Things.” I nodded at Alex, surprised by the random song input but I didn't care, I loved singing with him. Jack strummed the guitar and Zack perched himself on an amp with Rian joining him, both smiling like an idiot. Alex also had a stupid grin on his face and I started to wonder if Matt had slipped acid into their drinks or something. “By the time I was your age I'd give anything/ To fall in love truly was all I could think/ That's when I met your mother the girl of my dreams/ The most beautiful woman that I'd ever seen.” I raised my mic and took over for the next verse.
“She said 'Boy can I tell you a wonderful thing?/ I can't help but notice, you're staring at me./ I know I shouldn't say this, but I really believe/ I can tell by you're eyes that you're in love with me.”
“Now, son, I'm only telling you this/ Because life can do terrible things.” Our voices blended perfectly ans the crowd cheered at the harmonies. I took a breath and carried on singing alone.
“Now most of the time we'd have too much to drink/ and we'd laugh at the stars and we'd share everything/ Too young to notice and too dumb to care/ Love was a story that couldn't compare.” Alex suddenly turned nervous and when he sang his voice was slightly shaky.
“I said, “Girl can I tell you a wonderful thing?/ I made you a present with paper and string/Open with care now, I'm asking you, please.” He took the mic off the stand and slid to his knee. Holy Fuck. So this is why I had to pay attention. I nearly dropped my mic as Alex took my hand. “You know that I love you, will you marry me?” The crowd went silent and Jack laughed as he put the guitar down and walked over to join the boys on the amp. As he passed he flicked a small black box to Alex who caught it expertly. “Caroline.” I looked at Alex, my eyes wide, totally shocked. “Care-Bear, I have loved you every day since that kiss in senior year and the last five years have been perfect. Will you make me as happy as Rian and Cass and marry me?” This time I actually did drop my mic as I nodded stupidly and Alex slid the ring onto my finger.
“Oh my god yes!” I jumped on him as soon as he stood and tears started to form in my eyes. He pulled me even closer for a kiss and the crowd went nuts. We laughed as we pressed our foreheads together and Alex brought the mic back up to his mouth without breaking our embrace.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, the future Mrs. Gaskarth.” If it was possible, the crowd got even louder and Zack and Jack pulled us apart while Rian yelled about the next song. I ran off stage to Tay who hugged me again, along with all the bands. Jemma grabbed my hand and stared at the sapphires.
“Holy fuck that's beautiful!” She shouted over the sound of Oh, Calamity.
“I love you, I love you, I love you.” Alex whispered between kisses. Chloe's Smile had our own tour bus but I practically lived with All Time Low, I even had my shit in here. We sat cuddled on the couch watching the Ravens game with the boys and Tay. We had been engaged exactly 24 hours, and it was fantastic. Jack had spent the entire time complaining about how we had officially ruined Jalex. I had so much to do now, on top of touring and recording. I had to organize venues and guests list, sort out a cake design and decide on bridesmaids and a Maid of honor. Shit, bridesmaids. I gave Alex a quick kiss and ran off the bus and three parks over, where you could hear Tay and Jordan yelling at their TV.
"I don't understand why you aren't crammed into All Time Low's bus. Everyone else is." I laughed as I climbed on. "It smells of whiskey and men. Your bus is a lot cleaner." Tay stood up to hug me. "Can I talk to you real quick?" I asked and she looked between me and the Ravens on the tv before nodding and walking me to the back lounge. We sat on the couch and she asked me if everything was okay. I nodded and told her not to be silly and when she asked me if I had changed my mind about marrying Alex I burst out laughing. "Hell no! I love that boy to the ends of the earth. I wanted to know if you'd be my maid of honor!" Tay was my best friend and we'd been touring together for years. Our bands were as close as possible, I mean Jemma was dating Mike.
"Are.. are you sure?" Tay stuttered. "Oh my god, yes! That'd be so cool!" We hugged for a while laughing. I knew her excitement would get the planning done quickly and give me time with Alex. I was proud of my self for sorting my first bit of wedding admin out this early but the colour from my face drained as I remembered something.
"Shit, Tay. I've got to tell my dad."

This story is so good! OMG. I just found it and started reading it yesterday, and haven't stopped. I just caught up with all of the updates you have of it and really love it.
It's a very dark fan fic. Specifically with the first half, honestly one of the darkest I've read actually... like with that curse of everything happening on Sundays? Man... and you just kind of kept it up too. It was just very dark, and sad, but... different. And I really like that about this.
The second half seems to be deviating from that a little bit, but I sensed that coming back with the babies thing. I mean, not that I want anything to happen, but I almost feel you had something bad happening planned with the pregnancy. Perhaps not, perhaps that was just to raise some of the tone as opposed to keeping it happy go lucky, who knows. But I found it interesting how you did that.
I'm glad that Alex and Carrie finally got together, with the first part of this I was just screaming GET TOGETHER until they finally did. lol. And I was happy. :)
I found it a bit odd how they just took in those fans though. On a realistic writing level, the oddity of this story was the curse thing. But adding the fans thing in too, it just... it didn't really fit. Especially considering legalities and all of that. I feel like it was a little too easy that they gained guardianship.
But overall, I have enjoyed Alex and Carrie's love story. I'm sad to see it was never finished, so I'm leaving this comment to let you know if you ever do choose to finish it, I will be here to read, for sure. I'd love to see how it all ends for these two. Even if it's just a final chapter wrap up or something; I understand what it's like losing inspiration.
But yeah, sorry if this comment sounded harsh at all, but just wanted to leave my honest thoughts. I think you're a truly great writer, though, and hope you have at least kept up with it in your free time. :)
