Terrible Things
Scream.
We all high-fived as we arrived on the final set of Warped.
"Los Angeles Mother fuckers!" Jacked yelled as he ran around the bus, dragging Zack and Rian with him. I wasn't in the mood for partying, I wanted alcohol, but no celebration. "Let's get fucked in time for our set and give the fans a show to remember!" We all laughed but Rian snagged the bottle of whiskey off him and put it in the sink. "Or not, Rian, you party pooper." Jack sulked all the way to bunk to change his clothes.
"It's nine am, Jack." Rian chastised him. "We are not drinking."
"Women change you!" Jack screamed and stamped his foot theatrically before turning and laughing, whipping his shirt off and throwing it at my face. Jack caught onto my vibe and leaned uncomfortably close to my face. "BackStreets back, ALLRIGHT!" I couldn't help but jump and join him. Zack jumped in and soon enough there was the four of us imitating the boyband in the confined spaces of our bus. Matt yelled at us to get our asses changed and be ready for our sound check. We were on stage at 12, after Pierce The Veil. Joy, my favorite people.
"Yeessssss, Maaatttt." We all chimed and he rolled his eyes at us before returning to make sure our set would be perfect.
CARRIE
"We are performing in one hour. Oh. My. God." Jemma squealed, pulling on her purple tank and a pair of denim shorts. "This is insane." We all agreed and I sorted through my suitcase, pulling out my outfit for the set. t was about thirty degrees Celsius outside so fuck wearing jeans, hell no. I jumped into a pair of ripped black shorts and pulled my lacy tank Vic bought me for the launch party over my newly straightened and styled hair. My stomach was turning, I tried to convince myself that it was because of our nearing performance, not the fact that I was actually considering jumping on stage with Alex. I perfected my eyeliner and smiled. Good. Caleb and Lee had sorted their hair out and thrown on a clean t-shirt, careless. Vic shoved us all of the bus and yelled at us.
"We get sound check! Go! Last day! No early shows! We're first!" He ran ahead, pulling me by my hand and in turn I grabbed Lee's. "Go, go, go!" I ended up falling at the bottom of the stage stairs laughing. Considering I was meant to be here as Pierce The Veil's guitar tech, I had done next to nothing with the instruments, we always found someone else. I grabbed the mic off one of the crew and jumped onto the stage, singing the lyrics to Hold On Till May. They could complain, but I wrote it. I could sing it if I liked. We were using all the boys instruments and equipment to save time on the turn over and so they could jump straight on stage. Lee and Caleb jammed a few bars on the guitars to test the leveling and I had an acoustic waiting backstage for Caleb so we could start with I'll Be Waiting. The crowd had stared to pile in by the time we were leaving stage and Lee started to jump up and down.
"We're actually doing this. Oh my god." The crowd was big enough to start chanting for Pierce The Veil and we all exchanged worried glances, not sure how they would accept us taking the stage. Jemma took a breath, called us all pussies and ran on, jamming a heavy solo on the drum kit to establish that we were here. Caleb started a heavy riff to accompany her and the three of them improvised a melody for a short while so the crowd would realize we weren't PTV. I hugged Vic and we ran on stage together.
"Ladies and idiots," Vic hugged the mic, "As most of you should know, this is my little sister Caroline." The crowd roared, just because Vic had spoken. "As of like, three days ago, she started a band with these fuckers." The crowd roared again and the three of them jammed something random for about ten seconds. "This is Chloe's Smile guys, they're opening for them. This first song is called I'll Be Waiting." Vic kissed me on the cheek before wandering off stage as the crowd screamed.
"I can introduce my own song Victor." I laughed into the microphone. "Hey guys, how you doing!" The crowd screamed and I couldn't imagine how they could have energy as I knew for a fact most of them would have only just stopped drinking from the night before. "This is I'll Be Waiting, we're starting slow but I promise the second song will make you want to jump." The crowd kept cheering as Caleb got the acoustic and stood next to me. I took a deep breath and smiled, the lyrics flowing from me easily.
"What do you think?" I said as Caleb swapped back guitars after the song. "You lot like us so far?" Most of the crowd screamed but one voice stood out.
"No! Show us heavy!" I laughed and Jemma cracked her knuckles.
"All right, fucker. You want heavy?" I didn't even introduce the song, I sang the accappella and nodded to Lee who jumped the bass line and the crowd cheered. My voice sounded grunty during the first first and I took a breath before delving into the break down, remembering my my friends had taught me. I let out the best scream I had and the crowd went mad. I had been working on that all tour, and the crowd went wild over a girl screaming. The song went off great, after we captured the crowds attention. They chanted 'Chloe's Smile' over and over before we waved by and the PTV boys took our places.
"Miss me!?" Vic yelled and the crowd screamed. I went back onstage half way through the set for Hold On Till May and the fans screamed, remembering who I was.
"That was fantastic!" Both bands and crews dove into a massive group hug as the All Time Low crew took over the stage. "You guys were great!" Vic squeezed my shoulder.
"Who the fuck taught you to scream?" Tony laughed at me.
"Jimmy." I smiled. I had made enough friends over this tour.Both bands laughed and I received many back slaps and high-fives. I saw Alex appear across the stage and broke free from Vic's grasp.
"Carrie!?" His voice yelled after me. "Where are you going?" I stopped and turned to face him.
"Honestly? I don't know." And I ran.

This story is so good! OMG. I just found it and started reading it yesterday, and haven't stopped. I just caught up with all of the updates you have of it and really love it.
It's a very dark fan fic. Specifically with the first half, honestly one of the darkest I've read actually... like with that curse of everything happening on Sundays? Man... and you just kind of kept it up too. It was just very dark, and sad, but... different. And I really like that about this.
The second half seems to be deviating from that a little bit, but I sensed that coming back with the babies thing. I mean, not that I want anything to happen, but I almost feel you had something bad happening planned with the pregnancy. Perhaps not, perhaps that was just to raise some of the tone as opposed to keeping it happy go lucky, who knows. But I found it interesting how you did that.
I'm glad that Alex and Carrie finally got together, with the first part of this I was just screaming GET TOGETHER until they finally did. lol. And I was happy. :)
I found it a bit odd how they just took in those fans though. On a realistic writing level, the oddity of this story was the curse thing. But adding the fans thing in too, it just... it didn't really fit. Especially considering legalities and all of that. I feel like it was a little too easy that they gained guardianship.
But overall, I have enjoyed Alex and Carrie's love story. I'm sad to see it was never finished, so I'm leaving this comment to let you know if you ever do choose to finish it, I will be here to read, for sure. I'd love to see how it all ends for these two. Even if it's just a final chapter wrap up or something; I understand what it's like losing inspiration.
But yeah, sorry if this comment sounded harsh at all, but just wanted to leave my honest thoughts. I think you're a truly great writer, though, and hope you have at least kept up with it in your free time. :)
