One week later, Jack was out of the hospital. They had assigned him a therapist and he had been prescribed meds. I took my chance and talked to a doc about my problems too, after a semi-fight with Jack I had realized it might be necessary.

He was at home, still weak, lying on the couch most of the time. But he was not unproductive; he looked for a job. I for my part had started caring more for Mari, visiting friends with babies, taking her outside every day and other things.

But there was one more important thing, or better, human to take care of. Luna.

She had kept in touch with me and we had met every other day in the past week or so. She had proved to be an excellent babysitter and I planned to have her as one very soon, as soon as Jack would be able to go out with me again. But first, I wanted to introduce her to him.

I had told him there would be someone coming today and he had gotten up and dressed nicely. He had even made enough of an effort to take care of his hair.

At 3pm, the doorbell rang and I hurried to let her in. She was dressed like always, leggings, an oversized band shirt (Blink-182) and her hair up in a bun. She shot her splendid smile at me and hugged me. Jack arrived right behind me just to catch her hugging me. He looked at me a bit strangely before shaking hands with her.

“Hi, I’m Luna. I have known Alex for a bit now and he hired me as a babysitter for an occasion very soon I heard,” she said, smiling stunningly at him. He was smitten, I had no worries about that.

We went inside and had some coffee. Luna was as pleasant to talk to as always and Jack was done. So when she left, they hugged too.

But after she had gone, he turned to me, furrowing his eyebrows.

“Alex, I think she is really nice, but where did you meet her? And why do you know her so well?”
I gulped. This was what I had been afraid of. “I… I met her in a café when you were neglecting me and Mari. I met up with Zack and Rian and she was working in the café and I kinda had a breakdown and hid in the restroom and she cared for me and when you came home the night before you attempted she offered to let me stay with her and yeah that’s the whole story,” I blurted out.

“Whoa, slow down a bit. So that’s the whole thing?” he asked, a smirk on his lips.

“Yes? You are not mad?” I asked back cautiously.

“No I’m not. I’m glad you had someone when I wasn’t there. But promise me I’ll be your toy from now on,” he said, softly at first, then a bit louder, but smiling all the time.

“I promise,” I said, kissing his cheek.

“I love you,” he said, slightly turning his head to catch my lips.

“I love you too,” I whispered, enjoying the feeling of his lips twisting up slightly against mine.

And Mari started crying. Jack looked at me and laughed before getting up and pulling me with him.
