Alex sat at the small cafe in Boston, waiting for Jeff, his boyfriend of two months. His stomach began to growl, and he couldn't wait much longer. He stood up ever so carefully, and made his way to the counter.

"Can I have a bagel, and a caramel swirl coffee please?" He asked, a smile on his face while the woman behind the counter wrote it down.

"That'll be three dollars, and fifteen cents." She said sweetly, smiling again when Alex handed her the money.

"Keep the change." He said, turning just in time to catch someones eyes outside the window. It was a tall lanky looking man, with brown eyes like his own, maybe a shade darker. He looked sad for a moment, and then his mouth turned up into a smile. Alex smiled back, unsure of who this man was. He didn't want to be rude.

"Alex." A voice said, breaking the intense gaze going on between the two boys. Alex turned to see Jeff coming towards him. He threw his arms around his neck, and pressed his lips firmly against the taller boys.

"Hi, Jeff" Alex said, pulling back, a smile extending across his face. He turned back to the window, just in time to see the man run away. He furrowed his brow in confusion, and turned back to Jeff."

"Is something wrong?" He asked, ducking down to look into his eyes. Alex shook his head, and smiled.

"No, nothings wrong." He said, turning to the woman who held out his coffee and bagel. He took it, said thank you, and led Jeff over to the vacant table he was sitting at.

"How is your day going?" Jeff asked, grabbing hold of one of Alex's hand. He could feel the blush creeping up to his cheeks, but he didn't care.

"It's been good. I've missed you though." He said cheekily, a shy smile taking form. Jeff laughed, leaning over and placing a kiss on his forehead.

"I've missed you too. I can't stay here long though, cause I have to get back to work." Alex looked down at there intertwined fingers, and sighed sadly.

"I know." He said, Jeff giving his hand a squeeze that made him smile sadly, but a smile all the same.

"I gotta get going, Lex. I'll call you when I get home tonight." Jeff said, leaning over and kissing Alex before getting up and rushing out the door.

Alex picked up his coffee, and took a small sip, enjoying the way the warmth of it slid down his throat making his whole body heat up. He smiled in satisfaction, and set the cup back down onto the table and began to eat his bagel.

Alex stepped into the cold October breeze, smiling as the wind blew through his messy hair. He began to walk. It wasn't in any general direction, he just let his feet take him where they wanted him to go.

He walked for at least a mile, but stopped when he heard someone cry from one of the benches in the park. He turned to see a man, no the man that he saw at the cafe, sitting with his head in his hands. He was crying pretty hard. Alex didn't know what to do. He contemplated just turning around and going home, but decided against it. He made his way over to the man, and rested his hand on his shoulder.

"Are you alright?" He asked hesitantly. The man didn't speak, he only shook his head. Alex sat down beside him, and sighed.

"What's wrong?" Alex asked, leaning down slightly. The man slowly sat up, and when he saw Alex's face, his eyes went wide. Alex noticed, and he furrowed his brow in confusion. The man wiped away his tears, and sniffled.

"Y-You're Alex Gaskarth, correct?" The man asked, confusing Alex further. He nodded, trying to remember who this man was, or if he'd even seen him before. He surely looked familiar, but Alex couldn't put a name to the face. A smile began to appear on the other mans lips.

"I'm Jack. Jack Barakat." The man said, hopefully. Alex thought hard, because the name was definitely familiar. Then it hit him like a brick to the back of the head. A smile pulling at the ends of his mouth, as he wrapped his arms around Jacks neck.
