Laura's POV
Everything is pulsing;humming. It's like a dream I can't wake up from, and it's turning into a nightmare. I can think but not my own thoughts and the light is blinding. I don't understand what is happening. All I remember is seeing Aunt Grace, and I was upset for some reason, but then it goes completely fuzzy.

Every once in a while, it seems like I come close to "waking up" I don't know if I can call it that because I don't know if I'm asleep. It's like that moment where you are on the verge of having to get up, but it never happens. Sometimes I just feel so weak, and I slip dark. But every time that happens, there's something pulling me. Tethering me here.

Alex's POV
There's a phrase that this is making me recall. Something about, oh I don't know, the shit hitting a fan? Sounds about right.

All I can do is laugh at myself right now. It's the only thing keeping me sane. Everyone's been going crazy with worry. Neither Jack or Zack has left Laura's side and it's been almost a week now.

I think we're realizing how much Laura meant to us. She's kept us from drinking as much. Keeping us together, and she's so worth it. Laura's family now, no doubt about it.

I go back into the hospital room, and nothing's changed. There's a nurse hovering, taking all the statistics we know aren't moving. Zack's got a death grip on her hand, and Jack gets up every five seconds to adjust her hair. As if it's moving.

The nurse leaves, and I decide that something needs to change.

"Jack. Zack. You need a break, this isn't helping her or you. Go home, shower, please. Even just for a few hours. I'll call Rian and get him to come stay with her for a while. He cares too, he just wants to leave space. He and Cass will be here in a sec. I'll come with you two."

They stare at me with blank expressions. Finally, after what seems like an eternity, Jack nods and stands up.

"You're right Alex. This isn't doing any good. Go ahead and call Rian. C'mon Zack."

Zack still hasn't moved. I'm starting to think we'll have to move him forcefully when he totally breaks down sobbing.

"I-I don't think I can leave. I care too much and I'm too worried." Zack whispered through his tears.

"Zack. This won't help her. Would you want her to wake up from this to find you holding on to her like she's broken and sobbing?"

"I guess not. You guys are right. Let's go."

I make the call, and Rian and Cassadee are here in moments. We leave with the assurance that they'll keep a watchful eye over her.

Rian's POV
*A few hours later*
"Rian, do you want some coffee or something? I need to stretch" Cass says, looking over at me with those adorable eyes.

"Sure Cass! That'd be great." I move over so I'm sitting on the edge of Laura's bed, patting her knee. Cass comes over to give me a goodbye kiss.

"Um guys? Would you mind not making out on my bed?" The voice shocks me. I open my eyes to see, it's Laura!

"L-l-laura?"

"Yes, Rian. Who else? I still think kissing's gross, even when it's you two. Now would someone like to explain why I'm in the hospital and you two look like you've seen a ghost?"

"Because we have, Laura. You've been in a coma for four days now. It was your aunt, after dinner. Zack and Alex stopped her and brought you to the hospital." Cass explains, because my mouth is still hanging open in disbelief.

"Laura!" A cry comes from the doorway. It's Alex and Jack, back from home. Weird, Zack's missing.

"Hey guys." Came Laura's reply to them, as she started to sit up. "I think you guys should probably let the doctors know I'm awake....."

"Of course!" Said Alex, running from the room. Jack just stood there, as if he couldn't believe what was in front of his eyes.

"Jack, are you okay?" I asked, kind of concerned. He looked like he was on the verge of a breakdown. He slowly started towards the bed, and I tensed, ready to stop him if I needed to. He bends down, and wraps her in the tightest hug ever.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again. We got a call, saying you were in a coma in the hospital. Kid, god I was scared. I love you Laura."

"I love you too," she responds, with a hint of sadness in her voice.

"Excuse me, but I'm going to need you all to leave the room. We've got to speak to Laura and run some tests." Stupid doctor. Oh well. I get up off the bed, and we all walk out to see Alex in the hall.

Thank god she's awake. That little girl means everything to us now.
