Alex's POV
Sitting down across from Zack, I'm afraid to realize that he's really drunk. When he gets this bad, he can be really violent. But nothing is an excuse to hurt Laura. Dammit, that girl's been through enough.

"Look, Alex..." Zack started, but I cut him off.

"No, Zack. You need to listen to me. I get it. You have a crush on Laura. I think I might too. But whatever. There's absolutely no reason to hurt her, ever. I can't believe you would get this drunk around her. You know what alcohol does to you."

"Alex, I know! I feel terrible. It's just I really do worry about her. You know she likes Jack? I know he's not stupid, but if he would let something happen between the two of them, she would get so hurt. And not only emotionally, but we need her as a member of this band now. She's one of us. But I know there's no excuse for how I just acted and believe me I plan on making it---"

Zack was cut off again, but not by me. We heard a blood-curdling scream come from outside. Oh what in the name of all that is holy?!

We hear a struggle ensue. I look at Zack and he looks at me the second we recognize that voice. It's Laura. We nod and rush out of the diner, to see someone punch Laura in the face until she's on the ground and start kicking her unconscious. And not to be sexist, but it startles me to see it's a woman.

"You worthless piece of shit!" The woman calls, "I left you there to die all those years ago. What the hell do you think your doing, walking around like you deserve to be alive?!"

Dear God, these woman's words even scare me. This must be Laura's aunt. I'm just taking a moment to register all of this when I see Zack rush over and pull the woman away from Laura.

"Back off, lady" He growls at her. "Laura is with us, and I'll be damned before I let you hurt her again. Move on with your life, pretend this never happened, and thank your lucky stars that I'm letting you leave this alive and not beaten."

While Zack is dealing with her, I move to pick Laura up. She's bleeding pretty badly from her head and stomach, and bruises are already forming on her face.

"Zack, come on!" I call, "We've got to get Laura to the hospital."

We sprint back to the bus, to his car, and he gets in the driver's seat with me holding Laura in the back. We rush her to the E.R.

Even though I know she can't hear me, I'm brushing the hair from her face and whispering words of comfort. When we reach the hospital, I rush inside holding her, calling for help. She's finally taken away on a stretcher, leaving me and Zack in the waiting room. He calls the guys to let them know what happened, and they say that they're on their way.

"Oh my god..." Zack mutters over and over again, burying his face in his hands.

Laura's POV
"Aunt Grace?"

Of all the people.....This is the last thing I need right now. The one person who was supposed to be responsible for me, who abandoned me. Left me for dead. But I barely have time to think about it before she's punched me in the face, and as I hit the pavement, I realize that it's probably over. She's going to kill me now.

As everything fades to black, I think I see two angels with worried faces step outside. Then I'm gone.
