Neverland

Broken

I promise I’ll never leave you. The words continued on repeat in Anastasia’s head, over and over and over again; they had become a broken record and quite frankly she was annoyed. Anastasia felt like she should have saw Jake’s suicide coming but in the end she realized that he never showed her an ounce of sadness. Jake had made so many promises to the girl but many of them would never happen, they were just empty words and that made Anastasia angry. Anastasia wanted to pull him out of the ground and rip his throat out but that wasn’t possible or legal, so instead she started throwing things around her room. Anastasia pulled all of the books off of her shelves and started tearing the pages out of each book that he had written on. Every book that was written was just a painful memory that she didn’t need.

After completely destroying her room and every book that Jake had written in she fell to the ground and began to sob, uncontrollably into the floor. Anastasia had no idea how long she sobbed, she was angry but most of all she was hurt. Anastasia didn’t understand how somebody could break so many promises; she would never understand how somebody who claimed to love her could leave her like that. Jake knew she would become a broken mess, how could he do that to her? Anastasia stood up from her spot on the floor and grabbed the picture of her and Jake staring at it for a long time. The picture was taken on a beautiful day, she had just learned how to surf and they had shared their first kiss that day. That was the day he promised to always be there; she threw it against her wall and just like the glass on the frame, she fell broken to the floor.

“Ana?” Anya had run up the stairs, after hearing the crashing noise. Anya rushed to her daughter who laid in fetal position on the hard wood floor, sobbing. Anastasia’s entire body shook but her arms wrapped around her mother, and she cried even harder. Anya rubbed her daughter’s back soothingly, she didn’t care that her daughter had destroyed her room all she wanted was her daughter to be okay. For the first time, Anya felt like her daughter was starting to live again; as Anya held her daughter, rocking her back and fourth trying to sooth Anastasia, she realized this was the first time Anastasia truly broke down. Finally her daughter was starting to heal.

“I’m so angry, mommy,” Anastasia choked. “After everything, how could he leave me? It’s like he never cared about me, mommy. How could he promise me so much and break all of those promises?” Anya couldn’t answer her daughter. Anya had learned long ago that you couldn’t depend on anyone but yourself but her daughter had to learn that on her own. Anastasia finally thought she had found someone she could trust, but just like all of the other people in her life he left her. Jake left her broken, none of the physical pain she endured before could ever match to the emotional pain she felt when she found him in his bathroom.

After a while Anastasia stopped crying but Anya knew her daughter had cried herself to sleep in her mother’s arms. Anya gently lifted Anastasia up and set her in her bed, pulling her covers over her body. Anya quietly left Anastasia’s room and went back downstairs to the living room. Anya sat down, a smile on her face, even though her daughter just broke down, Anya knew that this was a step in the right direction for Anastasia. Anya wanted to see Anastasia smile again, and crave adventure like she used to. She wanted her daughter to swoon over boys, not just hang out with them. Anastasia wasn’t Anya’s only problem, however; Anya knew that Stephen, her husband, had been seeing another woman. Anya wasn’t an idiot, she knew that her husband had been having an affair but she couldn’t worry her daughter with that. Anya just didn’t know what to do anymore, it seemed like her world was crumbling down all around her but she couldn’t show her daughter that. Anya had to be strong for her daughter.

Uhm.........sorry you find Patriots fans irritating. Even though I am, I'm quite excited for the Super Bowl because it's going to be a good football game, and a great way for Ray Lewis to end his career.
Anyway, love this chapter and this story! It's great :)
