Neverland

Heavy Heart

“Dude, what’s going on with you and Anastasia?” Jack asked as the two boys drove from Alex’s house to the bar where they were performing, “You guys have been hanging out a lot lately.” Alex glanced from the road to Jack, before looking back at the road and shrugging, “how do you not know?”

“There is nothing going on between Anastasia and me,” Alex answered truthfully. Of course his mind and his heart fought a lot over her and the idea of actually dating her, but nothing happened between Anastasia and Alex since the night of the kiss. “You already know that she kissed me, but that’s all that happened between us. Anastasia knows about guys like me and she deserves someone a lot better than me, you and I both know that no girl can tie me down.” Alex knew he would not grow up in time for a girl like Anastasia, and he knew that Anastasia would never fall for his tricks.

“I’m not too sure,” Jack commented lightly. “It’s all fun and games playing with these idiot girls minds but when you find a girl that you can’t stop thinking about, that’s the type of girl worth changing for.” Alex shrugged again. They were in high school, it was supposed to be a fun time, nothing serious when it came to relationships with other people. However, Alex took the cake when it came to having fun; he partied too much and slept with way too many girls but he knew in time he would grow up and find a girl; he didn’t want that during high school though.

“I just want to have fun,” Alex told Jack. “I’m not looking for a serious relationship at all, this is high school, Jack; I’m not going to settle down for a some crush and I like Anastasia too much—as friend—to do that to her.” Jack sighed, he wasn’t going to talk any sense into his best friend. Alex was extremely stubborn when he wanted to be, especially when it came to admitting things about girls. Alex never thought he’d meet a girl that he’d want to settle down for in high school, but he did and he didn’t like it. Alex hoped that having Hannah come to the show tonight would make his feelings for Anastasia just disappear like they usually did when he had sex with a different girl. However, his hopes did not come high because he knew in his heart that he truly cared about Anastasia and that he truly wanted Anastasia, but his mind did not agree and definitely did not want any type of relationship.

“So are you bringing a girl to the show?” Jack asked, hoping Alex would say no, but of course his hopes were futile because Alex always brought a different girl to each show.

“Yes sir, I asked Hannah,” Alex smirked, knowing that she was probably the easiest girl of all of the girls he brought around. Alex had constants, he never really strayed from the three girls he hooked up with, it made it a lot easier for him to stay in control of them. “She should be able to get Anastasia out of my head.”

“I doubt it, Anastasia told me that she was coming,” Jack said. Alex coughed and slammed on the breaks out of surprise, “because I’m amazing.” Alex couldn’t believe that Jack talked Anastasia into going to the show that night, but he was glad. “So you should un-invite Hannah.”

“I have needs Jack,” Alex rolled his eyes, pulling into a parking space at the bar. Jack groaned but didn’t say anything, knowing he wouldn’t be able to talk Alex into uninviting Hannah. Hannah would hate Anastasia because Anastasia would threaten Hannah’s good looks but Alex didn’t care that Hannah would hate Anastasia, all Hannah was around for was a good lay when Alex felt like he needed it.

“Hannah is going to hate Ana,” Jack commented, taking the thoughts right from Alex’s mind. “Although, I’m not sure if Ana will care.”

“She’s not going to care,” Alex verified. “Ana couldn’t give a rat’s ass about who likes her and who doesn’t like her.” Alex and Jack walked to the back where Matt already started to unload the van and set it up in the back.

“Why are the two irresponsible people in the band here before the two responsible people?” Matt asked, somewhat rhetorically. Matt Flyzik was their manager. He took care of everything, almost like their father. He without Matt Flyzik All Time Low, their band, would not exist.

“Because we don’t have girlfriends that need tending to,” Alex rolled his eyes, grabbing his guitar case and carrying it to the place Matt had previously set all of their equipment. Jack quickly agreed by nodding his head and also helped Matt unload their equipment from the van. Alex looked up to see Hannah standing at the barrier that led to the back; Alex quickly shot a smirk and a wink to Jack before heading over to the barrier and leading her towards Jack and Matt. “I just have to finish setting up, okay?” Alex asked, his voice was soft and sweet; it flowed easily through Hannah’s ears. Hannah knew that she wasn’t the only girl Alex was seeing but she didn’t mind as long as the attention was on her when she was with him.

“Ana and Cassie are here!” Jack grinned, running over to the two girls. “I’m so glad you came! We’re going to have so much fun! And then we’re having a party and I’m going to get you wasted!”

“Woah there, buddy, calm down,” Anastasia laughed, putting her hands up. “I said I’d come to the show, nothing about a party. I don’t like parties.” Jack frowned for a minute before smiling again.

“It’ll be fun, pwease?” Jack asked, clasping his hands together.

“Fine,” Anastasia rolled her eyes, but started giggling when Jack started to jump up and down. “Remind me why I’m friends with you?” A more proper sentence would be ‘remind me why I acquaint myself with you’ but that seemed a little rude, and Anastasia hoped that she and Jack could be friends, eventually, when she wasn’t a glass case of emotion.

“Because I’m amazing,” Jack answered, “and because my best friend is Alex, so you and I kind of have to get along.” Anastasia chuckled and let Jack lead her to Alex, Hannah, Matt, Kara, Rian, and Zack.

“Hannah, this is Anastasia,” Alex started to introduce, “Anastasia, this is Hannah.” Hannah rolled her eyes over Anastasia, Hannah immediately disliked Anastasia because Anastasia took the attention off of her and Hannah loved to be the center of attention. Hannah also didn’t like Anastasia because she seemed well liked within the group of friends and Hannah would do anything to be accepted by Alex’s friends.

“Nice to meet you,” Anastasia said, reaching her hand out for Hannah. Hannah stared at her hand before completely turning away, “seriously?” Anastasia looked up at Jack, he had no idea what to say. Alex stared at Anastasia who just seemed so amazed that someone would completely deny a friendly greeting like that, but Anastasia just pursed her lips and let her hand drop to her side. “Fucking bitch,” Anastasia muttered. “I’m going to go inside,” Anastasia left the group to walk inside of the building, but Jack caught up with her so she didn’t go alone.

“Hannah hates girls that are prettier than her,” Jack commented. “You’re a threat to her ‘Alex time’ and she doesn’t like it.”

“She doesn’t even know me,” Anastasia said. “It’s not like Alex and I are going to be hooking up anytime soon, if ever.” Anastasia continued to walk, not really watching where she was going. “At least she’s real.”

“So do you like Alex?” Anastasia didn’t answer, she wouldn’t answer that question because she had no idea herself. Anastasia didn’t want to think about boys or relationships; she had finally started getting over Jake, she didn’t need another man invading her thoughts. Plus, she was too much of a basket case at this point for anyone to handle, “are you going to answer me?”

“I can’t wait to see you guys play,” Anastasia smiled, completely changing the subject.

“You’re going to love it.”

“I hope so, I can’t have friends that are in a shitty band.”

Notes

I'm updating because I'm fucking stoked.
The Ravens and the 49ers won, Har-bowl here we come.
It's not that I hate the Patriots, it's the fact that they're sore losers and their 'fans' are irritating.
However, I don't know who I want to win the Super Bowl now. I went to school with Kaepernick so he'll always have a place in my heart but Ray Lewis is one of my favorite players and I love both of the Harbough brothers. This is going to be hard. I'm probably going to end up flipping a coin. I'll be happy no matter the outcome...that's a first.

anyways I've never said this before but I really appreciate all of you readers, commenters, subscribers, and raters. I love all of you guys.

Uhm.........sorry you find Patriots fans irritating. Even though I am, I'm quite excited for the Super Bowl because it's going to be a good football game, and a great way for Ray Lewis to end his career.
Anyway, love this chapter and this story! It's great :)
Poor Ana. :(
