Sanctuary
Difficult
Today is the day the boys are due to leave for their three week long tour in the UK and while it would not be the longest I have been without Alex, it was going to suck. There is a nine hour time difference and I had no idea when I would be able to speak to him. This is a couple hours before work, so this is gonna be a long fucking day.
“You realize how much this is gonna suck?” I asked.
“We’ll get through it like we always have.”
“I know, but still.”
“I get what you’re saying and I agree.”
We were sitting in the airport waiting for their flight to be called. Ten minutes later as I was lying my head on his shoulder, I heard the flight being called. We got up and I felt his arms wrap around me.
“I love you.” he said kissing me.
“I love you, too.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck and melted into the kiss.
“Alex! Come on! We need to go.” Rian shouted.
He gave him the middle finger then groaned once we separated.
“Stay safe and be a good boy. Well, as good as you can be. Text me when you guys arrive. Ok?”
He laughed.
“Ok. Be happy and stay safe. I’m gonna miss you.”
“I’m gonna miss you, too.”
“Alex!”
Rian shouted again.
“I’m coming!”
I laughed.
“Ok. I gotta go. Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
And with one last kiss, he was gone. Once I saw him go through the terminal, I left with a heavy heart. I got in and started it after a minute; I had an hour-and-a-half before work and I didn’t want to go. I put my music on shuffle and pressed play and texted Miranda since she couldn’t get out of work to properly say goodbye to Jack. This was her first time away from him and had no idea how she’d be these next three weeks.
Saw the boys off. I miss Alex already.
Instead of her texting me back, she called me. Oh boy, she’s a mess already.
“Hey.”
She sounded glum. I love her, but I never expected her to react like this way, this fast; I know that I wasn’t feeling like this after I said goodbye to Alex the first time he was on tour since we’ve been together.
“Hi honey. How are you?”
“Not good. I miss him already.”
“I miss my man already too.”
“How do you deal with this? I know this isn’t your first rodeo.”
“One day at a time. You’ll be fine. Trust me.”
“Yeah. I fucking hate the time difference too.”
“I do too. Nine hours is pretty ridiculous, but we’ll make it work. I know that Alex and I always have no matter small or big of a time difference. Being able to talk to him makes things tolerable.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Thanks for talking to me, Abby. I truly do appreciate it.”
“You’re welcome. I knew that was something you needed to hear.”
“Anyway, I hate to end this conversation, but I gotta head back to work.”
“Talk to ya later, Miranda.”
“Talk to ya later, Abby.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
I hung up and started up my car and turned my music back on. I headed out of the parking lot with ninety minutes until work started. To kill time, I went somewhere for breakfast and not a drive-thru, somewhere I could just sit and eat a meal. While I waited for a table or a booth, a guy squeezed my ass. I jabbed him in the chest.
“Why so hostile?”
“One, you’re disgusting and two, I have a fiancée.”
“Well, I don’t see him anywhere.”
“That’s because he’s out of the country.”
It was half true; he wasn’t in LA, but this guy didn’t need to know that.
“What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.”
I was ready to barf. He tried to kiss me, so I kicked him in the balls and left. I couldn’t be in a place where someone like that was. I took a deep breath and let it go because I don’t need any panic attacks today; he was too close to being a trigger for me. This was a time I wanted to talk to Alex or one of my friends, but I didn’t have any options in that department. I hoped by the end of the day, I’d be able to talk to him.
I managed to kill time and arrived at work with fifteen minutes to spare.
“Good morning, Abby.” Jayla greeted.
“Good morning, Jayla.”
“How’d this morning go?”
“I’ll admit. It was tough, but I got through it like I always do.”
She nodded.
“Oh and a guy squeezed my ass when I went out for breakfast.”
“What? Yuck.”
“You can say that again.
“Are you good?”
“Yep. He got a jab in the chest then a kick in the balls when he tried to kiss me.”
She laughed.
“Good for you. Defending yourself like that. How do you think Alex is gonna react?”
“He’s probably gonna overreact knowing what happened last year.”
“I get that.”
“Me too.”
The day just seemed to drag and I couldn’t even imagine how it was for the boys since they were still in the air; a flight from Los Angeles to London is roughly ten-and-a-half hours. I’d be in bed when they arrived, but I still would love that text knowing they made it safely. I came home at eight and picked up the dogs from our neighbors and let them out in the backyard. I waited a couple minutes till they came back in and shut the door. I walked in the kitchen to get a drink for both me and them before sitting in the living room exhausted as can be.
“I miss your daddy, boys.” I said as they jumped up on the couch.
It was beginning to hit me already which fucking sucked. After about ten minutes, I went to the bedroom and changed, getting into my jammies and watched tv until eleven which was when I decided to go to bed. I took a last minute selfie with Peyton and Baz and sent it to Alex with a caption.
Guess who misses you! We love you! Goodnight!
I let the boys in bed with me since I didn’t have my teddy bear.
“Goodnight.”
I laid my head on the pillow and fell asleep in no time. Sometime later, I heard my phone vibrate and I knew immediately that it was Alex.
Made it here safely. I miss all of you and love you! P.S. I hope I didn’t wake you.
He sent an adorable picture from his phone. I smiled and fell back asleep.
Okay, so wow... it's been a minute. First of all, thank you for responding to my last comment. I promise that the reason my feedback took so long is simply because I've just had a hectic life lately, and so I've had little time to read.
I'm glad my feedback is helpful.
And since it's been a minute, this took me forever to catch up on, and now that I have.. it's over! :O But there's gonna be a sequel, so yay! I assume I'll get some sort of notification for that, but I'm not entirely sure... if you don't see me leave feedback within a week, feel free to let me know it's posted.
Alex and Abby are so cute together. :') And I can't believe Miranda and Jack are gonna have a baby. :O That threw me for a loop when you added that in. And it was interesting to see how she coped with him being on tour, since I was wondering how that would go... it went better than I thought it would. :) That's a good thing, though.
And then that brief fight with her mom, wow. But I'm glad they made up. And I'm glad Abby got the wedding she was hoping for. :)
Interested in seeing what you have happen in the sequel. I really enjoyed this story. I loved how strong Alex and Abby's relationship is; through thick and thin they were there for one another. <3
Anyway, yeah, I'll be around to read the sequel... hopefully it doesn't take me as long again to leave feedback. Finally caught up though. And again, appreciate you getting back to me after the last comment.
Looking forward to the sequel!
