Sanctuary

Delight

It’s only three days till the boys leave to tour in the UK for three weeks and I’m not ready for him to leave, but whoever is? Since I’m working the next few days until Alex travels to the UK, we’re spending the day together. I know I’ll be sleeping next to him until then, but we need quality time together.

“What do you wanna do today?” he asked as I did my hair.

He was sitting on our bed waiting for me to finish getting ready.

“I don’t know.” I said sighing.

This never gets easier. A relationship with a musician is a difficult one, but it’s certainly worthwhile.

“Come sit.” he said patting the spot next to him.

I finished my hair seconds later and sat next to him with him pulling me ever so close. He kissed the top of my head and I laid it on his shoulder. He knew exactly how I was feeling and what I needed without even asking me. Tears ran down my face and I sniffled and as much as I hoped he wouldn’t hear me, I already knew that he could. I heard his phone ring and I started to move away, so he could answer it, but he never moved.

“You can answer that.”

“It can wait.”

“It could be important.”

“They can leave a voicemail. You’re more important.”

I moved back toward him and smiled.

“A drive.” I said.

“I like the sound of that.”

After another minute, I separated from him and kissed him rather passionately.

“I love you.” I said crawling into his lap.

“I love you, too. Are you sure you want to go for a drive?”

“There’s plenty of time for sex, Alex.”

I kissed his jaw and teased him.

“Abby...”

I smirked and got off his lap. He reached for me, but I just walked away and laughed.

“You’re mean.”

“I know. You ready?”

“Yeah.”

While I grabbed my purse, he took a peek at his phone.

“Who was it?”

“Just my mom. I’ll call her back later.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah. She just likes to call and check up on me.”

“I get it.”

Soon enough, we were out the door and in his car.

“What do ya want to listen to?” he asked.

“You choose.”

“You sure?”

“Well, I'd end up putting my music on shuffle and we all know what there’s a shitload of in my library.”

“Ok. I’ll pick.”

He put his music on shuffle and it started to play. In This Diary by The Ataris.

[insert lyrics]

I squealed which caused Alex to laugh. You’d think it’d startle him, but it doesn’t; however, it’s something that would startle everyone else I know.

“I love this! Can I turn it up?” I said in a high-pitched voice.

“Of course. Can you promise me something?”

“Absolutely. What is it?”

“Could you stay this happy while I’m gone? I love this Abby.”

I smiled.

“That shouldn’t be an issue.”

Just like Miranda knows what my favorite ATL song is, he knows this is one of my favorite songs. I began singing the song at the top of my lungs as he pulled out of the driveway. We headed to a hole in the wall I found years ago and hadn’t been to in a couple years. I tugged on his hand as we walked toward the restaurant much to Alex’s amusement. It was a place where you sat yourself and were waited on quickly.

“Welcome lovebirds. I’m Whitney. What can I get you to drink?”

“Iced tea, please.” he said.

“Lemonade, please.”

After she left, I spoke up.

“What are you hungry for?”

“I have no idea. You?”

“Tuna melt. That’s what I got last time I was here.”

“I don’t get the obsession with tuna melts. They look weird.”

I laughed.

“Well, some of the weirdest foods are some of the most delicious foods. That is one of them.”

He shrugged.

“Still not interested.”

“Ok. I tried.”

When our waitress came back a couple minutes later, he was still undecided.

“Just get the chili cheeseburger. You’ll love it. Trust me.”

“I’ll get that then.”

“And I’ll have the tuna melt, please. Thank you.”

I handed her our menus and turned back to Alex.

“I’m making you try mine.”

“Good luck with that, babe.”

I smirked and shook my head.

“It’s gonna happen.”

He rolled his eyes. Why I was so insistent, I’ll never know. I excused myself to the restroom a few minutes later and came back to see a woman walk past Alex who was eyeing him up; not on my watch. She went into where I was just at and discontinued the glare I was giving her.

"What was that about?"

"That skank was looking at you like you were a piece of meat."

I'm not one to go to assumptions, but in this case, I considered myself justified.

"Stuff like that doesn't bother me."

"Well, it's gotta bother you about men looking at me like that."

"Of course, it does. I'd be a horrible fiancee if it didn't, especially since that night."

I sighed.

"I get what you're saying."

This is when that woman walking toward our booth still looking as hungry as ever. I glared at her again, displaying my ring which turned her gaze away from him.

"That's right. Keep on walking."

"Abby." he scolded.

"What?"

"That was going too far."

"No. It wasn't. I could've gotten in her face, but I restrained myself. Seeing as I can be quite the bitch and confrontational, I find that tame."

"It was uncalled for."

I'm. In. The. Right.

We sat in silence aside from when our food came which was a period of ten minutes, a long and awkward silence.

"Talk to me." Alex said.

I cut a piece of my food and put it in my mouth and began chewing. Occasionally, I can be extra bitchy and this was certainly one of those times. I took a sip of lemonade and placed it back down while I felt his eyes on me.

"Could you quit staring at me? I always know when you're looking at me."

I started to bounce my leg up and down which was an indicator of my anxiety.

"Abigail."

"Alexander."

I felt his hand on my knee, trying to calm me down.

"I know you."

"...too well. Can you just admit that I was right?"

"No. I won't. Because I’m right.”

I rolled my eyes.

“I’m sorry I acted like that, but I couldn’t stand her looking at you like that even when she saw that you were with someone. It was disgusting.”

He shrugged.

“Yeah. She was definitely disgusting, but I don’t let that get to me like the way it did with you.”

“You really wouldn’t act like that around a douchebag?”

“Unless he touched you or said something, I wouldn’t.”

“Ok. Are we good now? Because I hate arguing with you.”

“Although, it can lead to great things.” he said raising an eyebrow.

There he goes, thinking like a man. I playfully rolled my eyes.

“Horndog.”

He laughed.

“It’s true.”

“I know.”

I smirked.

“I’m gonna get you to taste this whether you like it or not.”

I got a forkful and told him to open his mouth.

“Here comes the airplane. Open wide.”

He resisted laughing and actually opened his mouth. I smiled as I watched him chew.

“Is that good, sweetie?” I said, trying to keep a straight face.

“Yes. It’s very good.”

“Told ya. Fiancée knows best.”

“I love you, you weirdo.”

“I love you, too.”

After lunch, we headed to his car to figure out where we were gonna go next.

“Would you be up for hiking?”

I’m a woman who’s pretty much on her feet all day and you’d think on my days off, I would like to keep from being on my feet more than necessary and normally you’d be right, but not on a day like today. If my man wants to go hiking before he leaves for tour, that’s exactly what I’ll do.

“Sure.”

“Really? I’m shocked.”

“I’m willing to do anything if it makes you happy.”

He turned and kissed me.

“There’s a trail close by, maybe ten minutes down the road.”

I was so glad I wore comfortable shoes today. When we go there, I was in awe of the beauty of it. Sure, I’ve gone past here before, but never gotten out of my car to truly experience it.

“Ready? You’re in for quite the walk.”

“Absolutely.” I said, taking his hand.

And off we went. The trail was smooth and it wasn’t noisy while we were walking aside from the birds in the trees. It was nice being away from the busyness of the city and was certainly something I needed.

“You’re very smart.” I said.

“How am I so smart?”

“You know. I’m talking about this idea with hiking.”

“Well, if you hadn’t suggested going for a drive, we wouldn’t be here. You get half the credit.”

I smiled. I took a long sip of my water and put it back twenty minutes later.

“Wanna take a break?” he asked.

“Would you mind?”

“Not at all.”

“Good.”

We sat down on a bench and I leaned back.

“We can go back if you’re too tired.”

“I’m good. I’m on my feet for usually nine hours a day.”

He nodded.

“You can always rub my feet when we get home if they’re sore though.” I said, biting my lip.

“That would be a pleasure.”

“An absolute pleasure.” I whispered into his ear.

“Tease.”

I got up and started to walk away like I did this morning, but he caught up to me and wrapped his arms around my stomach causing me to giggle.

“You’re not getting away from me this time.” he said into my hair.

I touched his hands and kept them there.

“How are we gonna keep walking if you won’t let me go?”

"I'll figure something out."

I laughed.

"Whatever you say, Alex."

Seconds later, he unraveled from me and took hold of my hand instead.

"This works too."

I kissed his cheek.

"You're incredibly sweet. You know that, right?"

And you're mine.

He smiled and nodded while squeezing my hand.

"Wanna take a selfie, babe?" Alex asked.

"Absolutely."

We posed for what must've been the cutest selfies ever.

"That's a keeper."

We must've been out on a hike for an hour when we decided to head back to the car.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"Three o'clock."

"Fuck."

"You okay?"

"I'm tired. I shouldn't be. I'm 28 and work on my feet all day. It's only been a couple hours."

"We can go home and order in if you'd like."

I buried my face into his chest.

"I don't know." I whined.

He laughed.

“Shut up.”

He wrapped his arms around me and I didn’t want to let go. After a minute, I let go.

“Let’s get to the car.” I said.

Once in the car, I reclined my seat back, took my shoes and socks off and propped my feet off on the dashboard. Alex was amused.

“I need just a few minutes and I’ll be good.”

“Ok.”

I shut my eyes for only a moment when I heard his phone.

“Who’s it?”

I drifted off a second later.

The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in sight. The temperature was ideal and the wind wasn’t blowing which meant today was the perfect day to get married. We were getting married outside and having our reception indoors. We had a small guest list, less than a hundred people with all but three people from my side. It didn’t bother me much; the people that matter the most to us are here for the uniting of two people who loved each other unconditionally. Miranda was my maid of honor while Rian was Alex’s best man. My mother would be walking me down the aisle and I had no problem with that because I figured the day I got married, she’d be the one to do so.

“How are you feeling?” Miranda asked.

“Amazing. I’ve never been this happy.”

I was taking one last look in the mirror before the music started.

“I can feel it radiating from you, hun.”

I smiled as I hugged her.

We heard that it was time for bridesmaids and off she went. When it came to me walking down the aisle, my heart was pounding and I was having troubling keeping it together.

“You okay, Abigail?” my mom asked.

“I’m good. I just can’t believe this day is here.”

The music started and I began walking. I saw Alex who looked proud, but I could tell he was getting emotional like me. I smiled and saw him smile back at me.

A hand on my thigh startled me.

“Abby?”

“Yeah?” I said groggily.

“Were you having a good dream? You looked really happy.”

“I did?”

“Yeah. You had a smile on your face. Sorry I woke you. I didn’t mean to.”

“It’s okay.”

“What were you dreaming about?”

“Our wedding day...”

I was smiling all over again.

“Sounds like a great dream.”

“The best dream I’ve ever had and it gets to come true next month.”

He smiled and kissed me. I pulled him toward me by his shirt and he crawled into my lap.

“I like this position.” he whispered into my ear.

His lips were dangerously close to my neck.

“So do I.”

He pressed those lips onto my neck and moved his hips against mine causing me to moan. I wrapped my arms around his neck and moved my head.

“Alex.”

He looked back at me and I crashed my lips onto his.

“How do you feel about having sex right now?” he asked.

That was a good question.

“Well, I never really thought about it till now. What do you think?”

“It may be a little cramped, but I like the idea.”

“Here or backseat? I’m thinking backseat.”

“Me too.”

He slipped off my lap and moved to the backseat while I followed. We stripped as fast as we could and not even a minute later, he was on top of me; I had no complaints since I was with the man I love more than anything.

“Ready?” he said running a hand through my hair.

“Yes.”

My heart was beating a million miles a minute. A second later, he was inside me and I dug into his back.

“Oh my God.” I said.

This is fucking amazing. Close proximity is the best when it comes to sex.

“I love this. I love you.”

He moved in and out while my moans became louder and louder.

“I love you. Too.” he moaned breathlessly.

Several thrusts and moans later, we came and I was out of breath. I felt him lie his head into the crook of my neck and I proceeded to touch his sweaty hair.

“That was amazing.” I said.

“You can say that again.” he said, pressing his forehead against mine.

I kissed him.

“Do you wanna go home and eat? We’re sweaty as hell.”

“Yeah, but I’m not ready to move yet.”

“Yeah.”

Ten minutes later, we finally moved and dressed ourselves before he started the car. When we got home, I immediately went to take a shower while he let the dogs out. Five minutes later, I heard the bathroom door open with the curtain soon after. Alex came in and planted his lips on mine, pinning me against the wall.

"Someone's hungry."

"You have no idea."

The look in his eyes was intense and my body was having trouble controlling itself.

"Fuck me and fuck me now." I growled.

After our second round of sex, I hoped we'd get another before we went to bed because hell, that would be the perfect ending to a nearly perfect day.

Notes

Comments

Okay, so wow... it's been a minute. First of all, thank you for responding to my last comment. I promise that the reason my feedback took so long is simply because I've just had a hectic life lately, and so I've had little time to read.
I'm glad my feedback is helpful.
And since it's been a minute, this took me forever to catch up on, and now that I have.. it's over! :O But there's gonna be a sequel, so yay! I assume I'll get some sort of notification for that, but I'm not entirely sure... if you don't see me leave feedback within a week, feel free to let me know it's posted.
Alex and Abby are so cute together. :') And I can't believe Miranda and Jack are gonna have a baby. :O That threw me for a loop when you added that in. And it was interesting to see how she coped with him being on tour, since I was wondering how that would go... it went better than I thought it would. :) That's a good thing, though.
And then that brief fight with her mom, wow. But I'm glad they made up. And I'm glad Abby got the wedding she was hoping for. :)
Interested in seeing what you have happen in the sequel. I really enjoyed this story. I loved how strong Alex and Abby's relationship is; through thick and thin they were there for one another. <3
Anyway, yeah, I'll be around to read the sequel... hopefully it doesn't take me as long again to leave feedback. Finally caught up though. And again, appreciate you getting back to me after the last comment.
Looking forward to the sequel!

It’s sweet how patient Alex is with her when she falls in and out of her meltdowns. I just hope she can keep it together long enough while he’s away. :)

@Nanook
I do read your commentary and I truly appreciate it. With multiple stories I've written on Mibba, I hardly get any comments, so thank you! They're quite helpful! Now, where do I start? Oh! I've never been sure on the correct spelling of fiancee and I wasn't even thinking about his actual anniversary which I just checked is on the 9th, so that was a happy coincidence. And when I accidentally responded to another reader, I did actually mean to respond to you. I apologize.

Hmm... I've lost track on what update my comment was last on? lol, sorry for the delay in feedback, but I'm caught up finally!
lol, the Ravens vs. Redskins debate. My mom loves the Redskins, and when she wore one of their shirts in Baltimore, she was practically annihilated. XD Like oh my God, so much hatred was thrown. XD Like don't do that unless you want a death sentence. LMAO.
And note, when calling Alex her fiancé, it would be with one e, not two. However, if you refer to Abby as his fiancée, that's when there's two. It's a rule in French with masculine/feminine. With males, it's one e, and then females have the second. Who knew my French minor would ever come in handy? XD
Anyway, great job with all of the updates! It was cute how she surprised him with his parents on his birthday. :) And I'm trying to recall, but is Alex's real anniversary on the 23rd? Just found it ironic that you also chose April. Although I'm having trouble recalling if that's the exact day... and I'm too lazy to look it up tbh. XD
Interested in seeing more!
Please respond to this comment letting me know you're actually seeing my feedback? I'm not one to usually complain about this sort of thing, but I just kind of find it a bit insulting when I don't hear back from the author, especially when they're updating regularly. You don't have to respond to me every time, I know that can get a bit redundant, but it's just... I've asked questions occasionally, or made comments that could have had a response... and I just feel like my feedback is going ignored. I'm sure that's not the case, but this will also keep me commenting in the future. It'll just help reassure I'm not leaving comments just for nothing. And the one time you commented, actually technically @ responded to another reader, and I'm still not sure if that was a mistake or if you literally just ignored me.
I just like to know if my comments are helpful or not. If they're not, I'll stop commenting or if I still don't hear back, I can't guarantee my feedback from now on with this story.

Aw, haha, this was a cute update. :)
I loved how they were able to talk about the future and agree on it. That just shows how perfect they are as a couple.
And the fight for candy? SAME. Especially if it's the freaking good stuff, I mean are you kidding? Those bags are so expensive, you have to try to keep some! XD
But yeah, enjoyed the new chapter and can't wait for more! :)
P.S.- A thought that just occurred to me: was Alex dressed up in a costume too? Or just Abby? I was just wondering... his costume wasn't mentioned, but they took a picture together, so it makes me wonder if he did have one on in that case...
