Lillie’s POV
I shouldn’t have been upset. I had kissed Jack, after all. That was basically telling Alex he was free to do whatever to whomever he liked, but still, something in my stomach dropped as Alex and the girl rushed to cover themselves.
“Um, guys, you know Caitlyn. Lillie, this is Caitlyn Price.” Alex said, rubbing the back of his neck anxiously. Wait, how did the guys know her? Was she Alex’s ex? Jack’s? I just stood there stupidly, open mouthed, dumbfounded.
“Uh, hey Caitlyn. Long time no see.” Rian said awkwardly. Zack waved uneasily and Jack just looked away.
“Hi.” Caitlyn said. She seemed really calm, considering the current situation she was in. I had to admit, I was kind of jealous of her. Not of her and Alex, since I was still clueless as to what was going on there, but she was absolutely gorgeous. Victoria’s Secret model level gorgeous. And she must have been pretty proud, considering she’s just slipped on Alex’s shirt and some lacy underwear to “cover up”. I could never be that comfortable in my own skin.
“Look, I’m sorry for flipping my shit at you guys earlier.” Alex said, coming closer to me and the guys so that Caitlyn couldn’t hear. “I needed someone to take my mind off of all of it, so I called Caitlyn.” Alex spoke almost directly to me and I felt my cheeks burn red.
“Caitlyn of all people?” Jack asked, sounding irritated. “You know, I really don’t want her all over me again, so it’s fine, as long as you keep her off of me.” Who the fuck was this girl?
“Fine.” Alex said.
“Should I go home?” Caitlyn asked innocently.
“Yes.” Jack muttered.
“I’ll take you.” Alex offered, holding her waist and gently kissing her neck. A part of me wished it was me he was kissing like that. Sending shivers up my spine with his gentle touches. Alex and Caitlyn changed in the bathroom and then left.
“I assume they’ll be having some fun times back at Caitlyn’s place,” Jack said, “So there’s no need to worry about them being home too soon.” Zack walked into the kitchen and brought back four beers, tossing one to each of us.
“Who is she?” I asked.
“She’s Alex’s ex.” Rian said, “She didn’t stay with him for long, though. She wanted Jack, but when he wouldn’t have her, she went back to Alex.”
“She was pretty cool for the most part.” Zack spoke up, “Fun to have around, if nothing else. She’s not a slut, either.”
“Then why’s she fucking Alex?” I asked, maybe a bit too eagerly because the guys gave me strange looks. “Do you think they have something?”
“Maybe.” Rian shrugged, drinking his beer.
“Do you really like him, Lillie?” Jack asked. I looked away and Jack groaned. “Great, I fucked everything up for you two.”
“No, it’s not your fault.” I said honestly. It really wasn’t Jack’s fault. I shouldn’t have kissed him back. It was wrong, but in the moment, it felt so…right.
“Yes it is.” Jack argued. I was about to deny it again when Rian’s phone rang. He talked for a minute before hanging up.
“I have to pick up my little cousin from a friend’s house and then I’m heading home.” Rian said. “Anyone need a ride?” I shook my head. Despite everything, I still liked it here more than at my house.
“I’ll go with you.” Zack said. He was probably sick of all the drama I was causing. Jack stayed, to my slight surprise.
“You don’t want to get away from me?” I asked Jack. He shook his head.
“Never. I love being around you. Why’d you stay?” Jack asked. I sat down, feeling slightly drunk.
“I don’t want to be alone.” I said. Jack sat next to me.
“You don’t have to be.” I leaned on Jack’s shoulder and he petted my hair. We sat for a few minutes in silence before Jack turned to look at me. “Caitlyn’s just a rebound, you know. It’s you Alex likes.” I rolled my eyes. Bullshit.
“So what then? He’s using her to make me jealous? Does Alex play those games?” I asked. Alex didn’t really seem like the type.
“He hasn’t really before. But I don’t think he’s wanted anyone as much as he wants you before.” I blushed at Jack’s words.
“Then what do I do about it? I don’t want to seem desperate…” I trailed off. Jack smirked and looked me in the eyes.
“We can try to beat Alex at his own game.” Jack suggested, and before I agreed or disagreed, Jack’s lips were on mine and mine were moving in sync with him. It was nothing like my kiss with Alex. The kiss lacked spark, but it was smothered with lust and desire. Maybe this could work.
