Don't Be So Sentimental, This Love Was Accidental

She's A Damsel Looking For Her Distress

Alex’s POV
Lillie is asleep, curled up in a sheltered ball on my bunk of the tour bus. We’re on our way to my place. Rian, Zack, and Jack are playing cards at the table. I’m sitting next on the foot of my bed, watching Lillie sleep. I know it sounds creepy for me to watch her like that, but she’s gorgeous. Her red hair definitely isn’t natural, but it suits her. She was so peaceful in her sleep, like she didn’t have a single problem in the world. But when she spoke, I could tell that wasn’t even close to the truth. We were only about a half mile away from the house when I shook her lightly to wake her up from her serene sleep.
“Hey, Lillie, wake up. We’re almost at the house.” Lillie groaned slightly but didn’t open her eyes. I petted her hair gently. I’m usually not a gentle kind of guy, but the girl was just mugged. When she finally opened her eyes and came to her senses, Lillie pushed me away and almost screamed. I shushed her the nicest way I knew how. “Shut up.” I said. Probably a bad choice of words. I saw her face changed as she realized where she was and remembered what had just happened. Her eyes began to water, so I put an arm around her. “You’re alright.” I said as the bus stopped outside of my house. I heard my band mates clomp off the bus. “We’re here. Come on.” I led Lillie inside and had her sit on the couch in the living room with the guys. I silently hoped that Jack wouldn’t come onto her or anything. I ran upstairs and grabbed a band t-shirt—my band’s t-shirt, actually. One with our “Don’t Panic” album cover on it—and a pair of basketball shorts for Lillie. I ran downstairs, where thankfully Jack had turned on a football game instead of hitting on Lillie.
“Here ya go.” I handed her the shorts and t-shirt and she immediately began undressing. I raised an eyebrow. Not that I wasn’t enjoying the view, but I didn’t expect Lillie to be so comfortable stripping in front of four guys she didn’t know. “There’s a bathroom at the end of the hall, if you want to change there.” I said. Rian and Zack pretended not to have noticed the girl stripping in the living room. Jack’s manners were a bit more slack. He stared at Lillie’s flat stomach as she pulled her shirt over her head.
“It’s fine.” Lillie said. “Really, it’s not like I’m taking off my bra or anything.” Jack looked disappointed.
“Alright, then.” I said as Lillie pulled the shirt over her head.
“All Time Low?” Lillie said once she was completely dressed, “Who’s All Time Low?” Rian and Zack gave looks of amusement at this question and Jack burst out laughing. Lillie blushed and looked down. I gave a small laugh.
“We are.” I say. “I’m Alex Gaskarth, lead singer. This is Jack Barakat, guitar, Zack Merrick, back-up vocals and guitar, and Rian Dawson, drums.” Lillie smiled.
“Nice to meet you all. I know you mentioned you were in a band. I didn’t realize--” Lillie looked at the shirt again and bit her lip.
“It’s cool.” Rian said. “You should hear some of our stuff sometime.” He offered. Lillie gave him a bright smile. It was the kind of smile that made everyone else in the entire room smile.
“Sure.” Lillie said.
“I can play something right now.” Jack said, pulling out his phone and playing “Weightless”. I was relieved Jack chose one of our best songs to play. When it was over, all four of us looked expectantly at Lillie.
“Wow.” Lillie said quietly, “You guys are really great.” She said.
“Thanks.” All four of us said in unison. I wondered whether Lillie really enjoyed it or if she was just being humane.
“Will you teach me some of the chords for that song?” Lillie asked with a subtle eagerness in her voice.
“Yeah. You play?” Girls who could play guitar were super hot.
“Yeah. Since I was nine.” Lillie said timidly. She was a pretty quiet person.
“Turn on.” Jack coughed. I glared at him, but Lillie laughed lightly. I handed her a guitar and started talking her through the chords. She was a damn fast learner. Twenty minutes later, she could play through the entire song and I was singing along.
“I think she puts you to shame, Jack.” Rian joked. Jack threw a pillow at him. I looked at the time. It was almost 2am.
“Do you want to get some sleep?”I asked Lillie. She nodded.
“Yeah, I’m kind of exhausted. But don’t let me ruin your party.” She said. “Which room am I staying in?”
“The guest room is the first door on the right once you go up the stairs. There’s a bathroom right next door.” I said.
“And I’m in the room right across from you, in case you get lonely or scared.” Jack winked. Lillie rolled her eyes.
“I think I’ll be fine, thanks.” Lillie said, already heading up the stairs. I swear I heard her humming Weightless as she reached the top steps. I leaned back on the couch. I really hoped Lillie wasn’t too eager to go back home. She might be fun to keep around.
