To the Moon and Back
Crowd
Alex's POV
I was counting down the days until we finally got back to LA, we would be playing a home show tonight and tomorrow evening Charlie would be arriving at LAX. I couldn't wait to have her in my arms again.
We were all stoked about tonight's performance, not only was it the last one of the tour but home shows are always something special, most of the time friends and family would be around and the crowd would be crazy.
We were all backstage and did our warm up routines, Rian drumming on his practice pads and Zack plucking on his bass. I was glad seeing Jack goofing around and just being his annoying childish self, then he came over to me and gave me a hug. "Let's do this," he said patting my shoulder and smiled. I'm so glad we're back to being best friends!
We ran out onto the stage and the crowd cheered, it was incredible.
We played a couple of songs and had just started with 'Lost in Stereo' and I was rocking out to the song, my eyes closed, when Jack skipped over to me and nudged me. "Alex, check out the girl in the middle there, she looks like Sharkie." He whispered in my ear.
My head snapped up immediately and my eyes were scanning the crowd. I could not believe it, there she was amongst all of the people, dancing to the song and smiling up at me when she noticed me looking at her.
I missed playing a few beats because I was so shocked and hoped nobody noticed, then I looked over at Jack with raised eyebrows tilting my head towards the crowd in a silent question.
He gave me a small nod showing he was okay with it.
I have a break when Jack plays his guitar solo that's when I took off my guitar and threw it to Danny the guitar tech, we do this sometimes as a show act, although he didn't expect it at this point he was still quick enough to catch it.
Then I turned around to the stage and started running, I jumped off the edge, spreading my arms, hoping the crowd would catch me. I normally never do this because it is scary and uncomfortable for me. But this time I had all the reason in the world.
I felt hands catching me and pulling at my clothes, pushing me in different directions I tried to figure out where they were moving me. Then I saw her again, she was pretty close, she pushed through the crowd holding up her arm towards me and we finally locked hands.
With her pulling me down and me turning around I managed to get down and onto my own feet. I pulled her close so that our faces were nearly touching and then time stood still for me. "Hey Baby" she whispers and I got lost in her beautiful eyes that were glazed over as she looked at me and then slowly and softly our lips found each other. It felt like our first kiss again. I could feel tears running down our faces and I didn't even know if it was her or me that was crying.
Then I hear Jack talking to the fans. "If you guys are wondering why we are playing this solo for the fourth time, Alex has just spotted his spirit animal in the crowd and left the band."
He giggles. I kiss Charlie again it feels amazing. The fans go mental and whistle and scream.
"Earth to Alex! Earth to Alex! We have a show to play here dude!" Jack announces laughing. The crowd cheers even louder than before.
We brake the kiss and I grab her hand and together we make our way towards the stage, I have to push through the people and it feels like they want to rip off my clothes but I never let go of her hand and shield her behind me. We come close to the stage and the security guys have already cleared a space for us to go through, they pull us over the barricades and onto the stage.
Danny hands me my guitar and Jack pulls Charlie into a huge hug, I start playing again when suddenly the beat stops. I look around and see Rian running towards us, he picks up Charlie and swings her around then sets her down again and runs back to his drum set. The fans go mental.
We pick up the song from the point when I left the stage and we are back on track.
She wants to exit towards the side stage and taps Zack on the shoulder as she passes him, they haven't met yet. But Zack has figured out by now who she is and stops her with one of his bear hugs. She laughs and waves goodbye to me before she vanishes into the dark and I can't see her anymore.
I know she is there though, waiting for me and I am grinning like a fool for the rest of the song. I play it for her, only for her.
After the song I run into the side stage and nearly bump into her because my eyes don't adjust to the darkness fast enough.
Notes
She's back!
Nooo, it's over. :-( This was a really sweet story. I loved watching Alex and Sharky's relationship grow. Hopefully you'll consider a sequel so we can see how married life treats them. Well done!
