To the Moon and Back
Green
"You did what?" Rian nearly yelled at me.
We were all currently sitting in the front lounge of the bus and I had just told the guys that Charlie and I had gotten married on my last day in Australia.
"Awesome dude, Congratulations" Jack got up and hugged me smiling widely. He seemed the only one being genuinely happy for me.
I hugged him back and then looked at Rian and Zack for their reactions.
Rian looked still taken aback and worried. "Alex, I really don't know what to say, I mean you broke up with Lisa only a few weeks ago and then you run off and get married. I have met Sharky only once and she seemed nice but I still think it is a mistake. You guys don't even know each other."
I open my mouth to explain my reasons when Zack chimes in.
"Yeah Alex, especially with us getting really well known now, you have to be careful, I mean I haven't met Sharky yet but for all you know she could be a gold digger."
By now I am fuming with anger I get up and slam my beer onto the table giving the two of them a fierce stare. "You guys think you know anything about us?
Let me tell you, you have no idea. I love this girl with all my heart, she makes me happy and she keeps me sane and I wouldn't want to live without her.
I have never felt this way before with anyone else. I would literally do anything for her. And you call yourselves my friends and don't even try and understand me."
I turn to walk to my bunk and speak over my shoulder as I go through the door.
"And Zack, if I ever hear you talk about my wife like that again I will fucking punch you in the face until you can't speak no more."
I am so fucking done with this band.
I lie down in my bunk and close the curtains. Then I get my laptop and call Charlie on Skype. It takes several calls until she picks up and when I see her face appear on the screen I release a breath I didn't know I had been holding.
"Hey Baby." I hear her sweet voice but she sounds sad and as I look at her I realise she doesn't look too good either, her eyes don't shine like they usually do and her hair looks dull and scruffy.
"Hey Charlie, what's up Baby, you look tired?" I ask concerned.
"It's okay Alex, I have just been working all night in this bar down the road and I am about to go to bed and get some sleep." She tries a smile that doesn't reach her eyes.
"Oh I am sorry Babe, for keeping you up." I say and sigh because seeing her like that hurts me so much.
"Don't be silly Alex, our calls are the only thing I am living for at the moment. I couldn't go to sleep without having heard your voice and seen your eyes. Oh how I wish I could touch you now and taste your lips." She touches the screen and her lower lip starts to quiver.
"Hey any news from the embassy?" I ask to change the subject and distract her a bit. I don't want to see her cry again.
Another sigh from her. "They say my visa application is still being processed and they can't give me a time frame when it will be done"
"Don't worry Charlie, it can't take that much longer, we will be back from tour in two weeks and if you don't have a visa by then I will come and see you."
"Alex, that is stupid you can't keep flying this distance all the time, it is too much stress. Let's hope the visa will be coming soon. Please don't forget that I love you and don't let one of the beautiful fan girls steal your heart."
"Charlie" I shout "what are you saying there? How would I be interested in any other girl when I am married to the most perfect wife I could imagine?" I shake my head "I love you Mrs. Gaskarth and I can't wait to show it to you."
I wink at her and she let's out a small giggle which makes me so glad knowing that I did lighten her mood. "So now I better let you go to bed before you fall asleep on the computer. I love you and kiss you. Speak to you tomorrow, bye Baby."
"I love and kiss you too Mr.Space." She replies and blows kisses to the screen and then waves before she cuts the call.
When her face disappears and the screen goes black my smile disappears as well. I don't know how much longer I can take this.
I lie there staring at the top of my bunk not really thinking anything but just feeling sad when somebody pulls away the curtain and places a hand on my shoulder.
It's Rian and his voice is pleading. "Alex, please."
I turn away from him staring at the wall. "Don't Rian, leave me alone. I'm not in the mood for it."
Notes
Uh uh, 1/2 of the band is not happy with this...
Nooo, it's over. :-( This was a really sweet story. I loved watching Alex and Sharky's relationship grow. Hopefully you'll consider a sequel so we can see how married life treats them. Well done!
