Lily's POV

I wasn't sure if Alex had planned anything else but we were content with the stroll along the beach, until we decided, to be heading back. He would shake his head when I stopped every couple of seconds to pick up a shell or a stone to look at. He grinned at how excited I got when I found a really pretty one.

After a minute or so trying to convince Alex that I'd be ok walking, couple of inches to get inside, he wasn't having any of it. He'd said, it was just plain rude letting a girl walk to her door alone on the first date, even if it wasn't that far.

He held my hand as we walked two or maybe three steps. It was really sweet of him.

"We should do this again, had fun tonight."

I turned to face him. He seemed rather close.

Before I could do anything his lips were firmly pressed to mine. I blinked as everything went blurry, and began to spin around us. My heart, picked up pace.

I thought it was a good feeling for a second before, dream guy popped into my mind with his words.

"Oh come on, let's have fun!"

"Get off me!" I frantically pushed him away.

I expected Alex to be shocked or confused but instead he immediately stepped back.

"I'm sorry Lily," he said rather calmly for how I'd just reacted, "shouldn't have done that."

I took a deep breath and wiped the stray tear that had escaped. I shook my head, grabbed the door handle to go in but was yet again, stopped by Alex, pulling me into his warm embrace.

His heart beat instantly made me feel calmer. When he pulled away, I wished he hadn't.

"Stay with me," I said, causing his eyes to widen. "Please Alex," I begged.

"I would but what will your Moth-"

"I'm 22. We're adults and it's not like we're going to do anything...I need you with me...," another tear escaped. "The nightmares-"

"I'll stay," he blurted with concern in his eyes.

I opened my eyes to find myself in Alex's arms. I gently moved his arm, hoping he wouldn't wake up. He didn't. I climbed off the bed and grabbed my jumper, slipping it on.

"How was your night?"

"Mum, it was great. We went to the beach and had dinner."

She raised her eyebrow. "Anything else?" she asked, filling the kettle with water.

"No. He dropped me off and went."

She laughed. "Lil' love, his car is still in our driveway. It's alright, just be careful."

Heat rushed to my cheeks. "We're not having-"

"Nothing happened Ma'am."

I swung round to Alex, leaning against the door frame. I grinned at his messed up hair.

"I just crashed here last night. It was late when we got back. I just slept in Lily's room on the floor. I didn't want to intrude. Hope you don't mind."

My mum's eyes lit up, "oh no, not at all, Alex dear, stay as often as you like," she smiled and left with a cup of tea.

"I'm not sure but I think that woman likes me." He winked.

"Eww gross! She's old enough to be your mum."

"Well she did say I was handsome last night."

He laughed for a moment, then got a serious stare.

"How were the dreams? Does she know?"

I shook my head, "I didn't have one and no, she doesn't so keep your voice down."

"I can see it, Lily. I've noticed you weren't sleeping. You should tell her, she's your mother after all."

"How?" I said under my breath, ignoring his comment about my mum, wasn't ready to tell her yet.

"Your eyes. They're black. You've just looked tired."

He leaned closer, I shivered from his warm breath. Let me help you then, he whispered and stepped away.

I swung my arms around him tightly and he held me back. I stiffened in his hold with the realisation of being in the kitchen. I quickly pulled away.

We ended up sat on my bed, talking about our nightmares. It was a relief I was able to talk to someone about them. It felt great. The only problem was when he had to leave. His friend had left him a message about an urgent band practice.
