I’m going to do so fucking terrible on this presentation. I seriously should’ve studied more for this, or planned my speech better, or practiced. Literally anything! I’ve just been so preoccupied with
other things, I totally forgot that I have to PRESENT in front of my ENTIRE CLASS.

How could I be so stupid? I mean, it isn’t that terrible. It isn’t my usual A+ work, it’s at least an A I think. But still!

PRESENTING!

I stayed awake all night practicing and memorizing what I had to say, but I feel like I’m just going to forget everything once I get up there.
There was this contest in Biology, and classes vote for the best presentation that period, then all the winners present in front of the class.

I didn’t want to win! I just did a good job on my homework!
I didn’t think I would win!

I need to find Jack, he can get me out of this somehow. Maybe he will help me pretend that I fainted so I can go home and skip the entire thing.
But, once again, Jack is nowhere to be found.

This has been happening for days now! Whenever I need him most he disappears!

I saw Brendon’s back in the hall and contemplated going up to him as asking him for help, but I quickly realized that he wasn’t alone.
He was arguing with Hayley who had tears pooling in her eyes, Brendon was running his hands through his hair in total frustration. What?

They’re fighting too?
Why is everybody fighting?!

First Cass and Rian, and now them? What’s going on with everyone?
Is the world ending?

I was about to go try to say something to Brendon but I saw Tay by her locker, getting her lunch, so I figured I should just ask her if she knew anything about it.

“Hey Tay!” I called.

She flinched at the sound of my voice, dropping her lunch box and folders that were in her hands all over the floor.

“Oh my god,” she mumbled, looking up at me.

“Shit sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. You okay?” I bent down to pick up the mess on the ground.

I’m such a mess, I scare innocent people.

“I-I’m fine! Uh, hi Alex, what’s up?” she asked awkwardly.

“Do you have any idea what Brendon and Hayley are fighting about?” I asked her.

“Huh?” she tilted her head like a confused puppy.

“I just saw them arguing in the hall, and Cass and Rian were fighting about the same thing the other day too.” I told her, looking back to see if my friends were still going at it, and making a scene in front of all our peers.

I have a thing against making scenes. The less eyes, and attention on me the better, which is not going to help, considering I’m presenting in front of my entire Biology class. Fuck.

I’m gonna pass out.

“W-Well I mean, I d-don’t know Alex, maybe you should ask Jack or something.” she rambled, lifting her arm to tuck her choppy brown hair behind her ear, looking awkwardly everywhere but me.
Does she not like me at all?
I know that she likes Jack but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friendly. I guess it’s too awkward for her, I feel so bad.
I know she’d never do anything to sabotage our relationship or something, I can’t imagine how heart breaking it is to see me and Jack together. Oh man…

“I just thought I would ask you since your Hayley’s best friend, the two of you are basically inseparable.” I tried to get the thought of her having a crush on Jack off my mind.

I mean, I can’t blame her. Jack is everything a guy, and a girl wants.

“It’s none of my business, I don’t know what they fight about.” she shrugged, staring at the ground now.

“I just hope it’s not a big fight or anything, Brendon really loves Hayley so i hope they don’t split up.” I nodded, Tay’s eyes widened at my words, but she didn’t say anything.

“Y-Yeah… that’d b-be awful.” she took a nervous sip from her water bottle.

Am I making her feel that awkward? God, I hate myself, I make everyone uncomfortable.

“Do you think something bad happened? Did one of them cheat or something-
Right after the words left my mouth, Tay covered her mouth with her hand and started coughing uncontrollably.
Dammit! I fucking made her choke, I’m so awkward!

“Oh, I’m sorry!”

“Whoa, what’s going on?” I felt an arm wrap around my waist, I stiffened at the touch but quickly realized it was just Jack.

“Tay, are you okay?” I asked her, placing a hand on her shoulder as she wiped her mouth.
Poor girl.

“I’m fine,” she assured me, clearing her throat one more time.

“Come on Lexy, you have your presentation in Biology to do.” Jack reminded me, grabbing my hand and pulling me away from Tay.

I forgot about the very weird experience that i just had once I remembered.
My presentation…

“Oh no…” I mumbled, barely loud enough for him to hear.

“Baby, don’t be nervous! You’re gonna do great,” he encouraged, leaning down to place a gentle kiss on my temple. I’m not so sure about that.

“I’m going to sound stupid,” I worried, dragging my feet as I walked.

Maybe if I tripped and fell, I could pretend I was really hurt, so I wouldn’t have to present.

“You could literally stand there in silence, and nobody would think you were stupid. Aren’t you one of the people that could be the valedictorian?” he asked me.

Oh yeah. The principal called me to the office a few days ago, which was absolutely terrifying, but he just told me that me and a few other people had the chance of being valedictorian.
I have no idea how. I mean, I just get good grades, and I tutor a bunch of people but I don’t do any sports or anything. I don’t even want to be valedictorian, then people would notice me even more.

“Yeah but-”

“Lex! You have nothing to worry about, plus it’ll be over before you know it!” Jack tried to calm my nerves, it wasn’t helping too much.

“Can you just do it for me?” I whined, wrapping both of my arms around his waist in a hug. I pressed my face into his chest and breathed in his familiar scent, that acted like aromatherapy, calming me down a bit.
Jack always soothes me when I work myself up, it’s one of the million things that I love about him.

“I wish,” he mumbled, and wrapped his arms around me. He rubbed my lower back, and ran his other hand through the back of my hair. I could stay like this for hours.

“I wish that you could be there watching me, you always calm me down.” I told him, I felt him place his chin on the top of my head making me giggle. I love how tall he is, and how my head just barely fits under his when we hug.

“I know, baby. I’m too dumb for those classes.” he responded, and I leaned away from him.

“You aren’t dumb, babe.” I scrunched up my nose in annoyance for even saying the words.

Just as Jack was going to give me some witty response, the bell rang, I groaned loudly.

“Just don’t think about the people watching you, okay? Just pretend that you're saying it all in front of just me.” he tried to make things better.

“I’ll try,” I promised, still unsure. I just wish he could actually be there.

“I love you so much cutie, you’re going to kick ass in there, and i’ll be waiting here outside the room when class is over, and you can text me anytime and I’ll come save you.” he said sweetly.

“You’re my knight in shining armor, I love you.” I blushed, and reached up to kiss his lips.

“Well, then that would make you my Prince Charming.” he smirked, and places a hand on my face and connects our lips together.

He kissed me softly and slowly, and sweet and gentle kiss that made my heart beat faster and my knees go weak. I love him so fucking much.

When he pulled away I was dazed at the beautiful kiss we just shared, and he took that time to place a cute kiss on my blushing cheek.

“Bye beautiful, you’re gonna do so great.” he told me, and kissed my forehead one last time before he went down the hall to his next class.

I stared after him for a few seconds in awe, and shuffled into the classroom.
I had a sudden boost of confidence knowing if my boyfriend thought I could do this, I definitely could.

sorry that the thing with brendon is kind of on pause this chapter, it's still a little bit of a cliffhanger, but alex still doesn't know yet
