This Ride Is A Wild One

“Come on Cass! You can’t keep me indoors forever!” Amy moaned. It had been 2 weeks since Amy had received that letter from the random guy.
“Amy, I’m doing this for your own good! You don’t know what’s going to happen if you’re out for too long”
“Can you at least let me go to the nearest store? You can accompany me seeing as you’re now my ‘personal bodyguard’” Amy laughed.
“Ugh, fine! 30 minutes, no longer” Cass rolled her eyes.
The pair put on their shoes, grabbed their bags and left for the store, Amy making sure she locked the door.

“Do I tell Jack about the letter?” Amy looked over to her friend in the driver’s seat.
“That’s not for me to say really. Personally, I think you should, but it’s up to you”
“I think I’m gonna tell him. I’m sick of keeping things from him” Amy pulled her phone out of her bag and dialled his number.
“Good afternoon gorgeous”
“Hey handsome” Amy smiled.
“How are you today?”
“I’m good actually. Cass finally let me leave the apartment” Amy laughed, not realising what she had said.
“What? Why wouldn’t she let you leave in the first place?”
“um… she’s just worried about something…”
“Amy” Jack said sternly.
“Jack” Amy mimicked him.
“You’re not pregnant are you?!” Amy burst out laughing.
“God no Jack” She heard Jack sigh on the other end, relief maybe?
“Then what’s up?” Amy sighed herself, knowing she had to tell him.
“Okay, just please promise me you’re not gonna freak out?”
“Depends on what it is; I can’t promise anything”
“Okay, so Cass and I were out 2 weeks ago and some guy gave me a letter. I didn’t know who he was, but he just disappeared. So I read this letter and it was him explaining that he used to work for… HER” Amy swallowed before she continued.
“Basically Holly is still after me and wants to kill me” Jack sat in silence for a moment before speaking.
“I’m coming home”
“No Jack, you’re not! You have an album to record, you can’t just drop it!”
“Watch me, I’m sure if I tell them it’s a family emergency, they’ll give me some time off”
“Jack, I can’t allow you to do that!”
“It’s too late Amy, I need to be there for you. I’ll call you later once I’ve sorted out my flights. Please, stay safe and I love you” and with that, Jack put the phone down.
“Well shit” Amy threw her phone on the dashboard.
“What did he say?” Amy glanced at her.
“He’s coming home”
“Is he allowed to do that?”
“He’s telling them it’s a family emergency. As much as I would love him back, I didn’t want it to be this way” Amy threw her head back against the seat.

“I told you everything would be fine!” Amy grinned at Cass. The pair back in the car almost home.
“Yeah yeah, whatever. Just don’t try and ditch me again next time” Cass laughed.
They pulled up outside the apartment, exiting the car with their bags of shopping. Amy took out her keys, however the closer she got to the door, the stranger she felt.
“Cass, something’s wrong”
“What do you mean?” ignoring her, Amy walked straight up to the door and noticed that it was already open, lock hanging off the door.
“There’s no way Jack’s home already” Cass said from behind her. Pushing the door open and dropping her bags off to the side, Amy walked into the apartment to find it had been trashed. Tables knocked over, picture frames all smashed on the floor, TV tipped over.
Cass gasped as she entered the house and seen the mess.
“I’m gonna call the cops” Cass ran off into the kitchen to call them, leaving Amy to check the rest of the apartment. Amy’s heart dropped when she walked into her bedroom. Every single picture of herself and Jack had been torn up, the frames smashed on the floor. The duvet on their bed had been sliced down the middle. The word ‘MINE’ had been painted on the wall and Amy knew exactly who it was. Amy looked to her chest of drawers that had obviously been ransacked, her clothes thrown about the room.
“No” she whispered as she walked over to it and opened one of the drawers, searching through it.
Cass ran up the stairs in search of Amy.
“I called the cops, they should be here soon” she called as she made her way towards Amy’s room. She walked into the bedroom, looking at the vandalised wall. She heard Amy’s quiet sobs and turned to see Amy on her knees in front of the drawers.
“Amy?” Cass placed a hand on her shoulder, crouching down to her level.
“What’s up?” Amy looked up at Cass, tears streaming down her face.
“She took the ring”
