This Ride Is A Wild One

Amy’s heart dropped. “W-what?” she asked, the silent tears streaming from her eyes. “Oh god, oh god, I’m sorry! It was just a joke, I didn’t think you’d actually cry” he blurted out. She just stared at him before whacking him in the arm “JACK YOU ASS” she screamed, repeatedly hitting his arm as they waked towards her car.

The car ride back to the apartment was silent until Alex called. Jack answered for her, putting the phone on loud speaker.
“Hey Alex, how’s Holly doing?” she asked.
“She’d doing as well as she can be I suppose. She’s not long woke up, I made her some food, so at least she’s eating” Amy smiled, thankful she was doing okay.
“Good, I’m glad. We’re on our way back now, I have asshole with me” she laughed. “Hey! I made one joke!” Jack protested next to her.
“You didn’t have to scare me like that though! Alex, how would you feel if your partner pretended that they didn’t know you?”
“I’d be pretty upset myself” he chuckled down the phone.
“Wait, partner? Amy you’re my best friend” Jack looked to her, confused.
“What?” both her and Alex asked at the same time.
“Listen Alex, we’re almost there so I’m gonna hang up and we’ll see you in a minute” she turned to Jack, giving him a questioning look. “What do you mean I’m you’re best friend? Jack, you’re my boyfriend! Hell, you should be my fiancé right now”
“Okay Amy, you can stop with the jokes now” he laughed. “I’m being deadly serious Jack” she didn’t look amused. “And so am I. Stop joking about stuff like that, Alex won’t be happy! You know, I can’t wait till you guys get married” he smiled. Amy slammed on the brakes, right outside the apartment. “Out the car, now! Get inside” she instructed him. The pair walked through the front door, being greeted by Alex. “Welcome home!” he smiled, but soon frowned when he seen how upset Amy looked. “What did you do to her?” Alex looked at Jack “Nothing! I just reminded her of your wedding” he threw his hands up in defence. “WEDDING?” Alex almost choked on his own breath.

Two hours later and Jack still didn’t seem to be joking. He was genuinely serious about Amy and Alex getting married. Amy returned through the front door after having Holly’s mother come pick her up at the airport. “Jack I swear to god if you don’t snap out of this, I’ll smack you” she said, tears threatening to spill. “I promise you Amy, I’m being serious! You guys are my best friends. I’ve been happy about your relationship since the beginning” he smiled. Amy got down in front of Jack, hands cupping his face. She leaned in and kissed him until he pulled away “What did they do to you?” she sobbed.
