What's My Age Again?

Kellin and I were shopping for costumes at Party City. Alex texted me while I was in class and said they were going to throw the party at his place. He also apologized for keeping me up when I told him I got in trouble for falling asleep in class. I didn't mind it though I probably would have fell asleep in my U.S History class even if I didn't talk to him all night.

"Should I be Doctor?" Kellin asked. "I like the white coat it'll make me look professional."

"Yeah, you’ll be following in our mothers footsteps." I joked.

"Yeah since I refuse to do it in real life.” He laughed.

"Help me pick something." I complained.

"Hmm do you want to be a super hero?"

"Nah that sounds boring."

"Cop?"

"No."

"Vampire?

"No."
"Mickey Mouse?" He sighed.

"N- wait that doesn't sound too bad. Let me see the costume."

He picked up the costume and showed me the package. I liked it! It came with a black shirt and red shorts, ears, and the gloves Mickey Mouse always wore. Plus it was something different, I don't think anyone else would come in that costume.

"I want this one!" I exclaimed and hugged the package to my body.

"Yeah I like it too. Make sure it's a medium." He reminded me so I wouldn't get the wrong size.

"Yeah it is. Thanks."

We walked around to look for more accessories for Kellin's costume. I wasn't in a hurry to get home since my mom was working tonight.

"Does your mom have to work tonight?" I asked Kellin.

"No she's off. Why? Is your mom working?"

"Yeah." I sighed.

"Just stay with me tonight. You can help me wake up on time for school tomorrow." He chuckled.

"Yeah, I'll just stop by home and get clothes first."

"Wait! Let's not go yet." He sounded suspicious but I ignored it for now. "You can tell me what you and Alex talked about all night on the phone." I told him Alex and I talked to each other for a while the other night and he's convinced I didn't tell him the whole story.

"I already told you what we talked about." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Yeah but I don't believe you. There's no way you guys were up that late talking about Halloween."

"We only talked for like thirty minutes before I fell asleep. We both fell asleep and didn't hang up." I told him again.

"Did he ask you on a date?" He asked as he picked up a fake stethoscope.

"What part of we just talked about Halloween do you not understand?" I laughed.

"Alright alright I get it." He laughed. "I just wished you open up a little more with him. I know it's a little weird since he's the first guy you're actually perusing but you shouldn't be discouraged."

"You don't understand because you've had so many boyfriends so it all comes naturally to you, but it's...I don't know I can't explain it. I don't know what I'm doing."

"I'm trying to help you. You just have to try a little more to make sure you keep Alex interested so he doesn't get bored and move on to someone else. You're doing well right now. The fact that he texts you throughout the day means he's interested in you, but you have to keep his attention."

"Well I agreed to go to his Halloween party isn't that enough?"

"It's a start but at the party don't act so shy around him. Just try not to think about it too hard and have fun with him."

"I kind of got better at talking to him without being shy." I told him.

"So if he were here right now you wouldn't be nervous while talking to him?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.

"No not at all." I answered and he smirked.

"Hey! What are you two doing here?" Kellin said to some people behind me.

"You told me Alex and I should come look for costumes with you and Jack." Vic said sounding confused. That's why he didn't want us to leave yet.

"Never mind the details" Kellin said and I glared at him. I turned to see Alex smiling at me.

"Hey!" Alex said.

"Hey how are you?" I asked him. I kept my costume behind my back so he wouldn't see it yet.

"Good, what about you?"

"I'm fine."

"Is that your costume behind your back?" He asked.

"Yeah." I giggled.

"Can I see it?" He chuckled.

"No it's a surprise." I took a step back as he took a step towards me.

"Come on just let me see it." He laughed as he kept walking towards me.

"Nooo you just have to wait three more days."

"Fine but it better be worth the wait!" He fake pouted.

"I'm going to go help Vic pick out a costume." Kellin informed us. I nodded and handed him my costume so he could take it with him.

"I can help you pick out yours if you want?" I offered Alex.

"Yeah of course." I followed behind him to another part of the store.

"What are you thinking of being?"

"I think I'm going to be the Joker because Zack is going to be Batman and Rian is going to be Robin." He laughed.

"That's so cute. I think I saw a few Joker costumes over here." I lead him over to the area I saw the costumes in. "What size?"

"Medium." He answered.

We searched though the rows of costumes. I saw the medium and reached to grab it. Alex must have saw the same one cause his hand fell on mine as he reached for the same one.

"Sorry." We both chuckled. I withdrew my hand and let him grab the costume for himself.

"Eh I don't like it." He said as he looked at the picture on the front.

"What? Why not?" I asked.

"It looks ridiculous. What if I just paint my face?" He picked up the makeup set for it.

"I'm sure people will get the gist." I said and he laughed and put the costume back. "So do you have everything you need for the party?" I asked.

"No we still need to go to the liquor store. We need a shitload of beer too. I was going to get more Cîroc for you also." He said and I smiled.

"You don't have to." I said as I played with my fingers.

"I want to." I didn't notice how close we were standing to each other until Kellin and Vic back to get us.

"We're ready." Vic announced awkwardly.

"Oh um so are we." I said. We moved away from each other and followed them to the register. Vic was going to be the Ninja Turtles with the rest of his band mates.

I paid for my costume without Alex seeing. It wasn't hard since he was checking out at a different register than me. We all walked out of the store together.

"I want coffee!" Kellin turned to Vic giving him puppy dog eyes. There was a Starbucks a few stores down in the shopping plaza we were at.

"Kellin if you drink coffee you will be up all night and miss school." I scolded him before Vic could answer.

"Yeah what Jack said." Vic teased and Kellin rolled his eyes at us.

"Hot chocolate won't keep him up." Alex suggested.

"Yeah what Alex said?" Kellin mocked Vic's tone.

"Fine let's go." Vic said and grabbed Kellin's hand. It always made me jealous to watch them.

Kellin and Vic walked in Starbucks first and then Alex grabbed the door to hold it open for me. I thanked him and we got in line behind Kellin and Vic. When it was my turn to order Alex stepped to the counter with me.

"Can we get two Grande hot chocolates please?" He asked the barista.

"Sure thing." She said and took his credit card. I was so caught off guard, I didn't expect him to do that.

"Thank you." I said.

"No problem!" He smiled at me. Vic and Kellin were sitting at a two person table so we sat at the other table next to them. This felt like we were on a date.

"Is there a certain time you want to go back home?" Alex asked.

"No my mom works late nights so she wouldn't know what time I made it home." I said and he looked at me confused.

"No I . . . meant so you can actually go to bed on time and not be sleepy for class." He said confused.

"Oh yeah right I um have late classes tomorrow." I said nervously. I hoped he didn't catch me in this lie.

"Does your mom worry you about making sure you actually go to class?" He asked understandingly.
"Yeah it's so annoying." I told him.

The barista called out to us that our drinks were ready. Alex and Vic got up to get the drinks for Kellin and me. I thanked him and took a sip regretting it right away because it was too hot.

"What about you dad? If you don't mind me asking." He could sense something was up because I never said a word about a father.

"Oh he um left us before I was born. So it's just me, my sister, and my mom." I told him.
"I'm sorry about that." He apologized.

"No it's cool. What about your parents? Do they live in Baltimore too?" I asked.

"No they live in Towson so not too far away." He said.

"Oh do you visit them often?"

"Yeah like once or twice a week when I'm off tour. Sometimes once every two weeks if they're annoying me." He chuckled.

"You're so mean." I laughed.

"No you don't understand they bother me about the smallest things. Like asking if I’m being healthy on tour, or if I’m dating anyone."

"My mom tries to get me to talk to her about boys all the time. So I understand what you mean. I get that she's just looking out for me but the conversation is always super weird and awkward." I chuckled.

"So you stay with your mom instead of on campus?" He asked and I looked at him confusedly. Then I remembered that my whole life was a lie.

"Uh yeah, it's so much cheaper that way." I said.

"Yeah I understand. I wouldn't be able to do it because like I said my parents are annoying."

"Well I thought it would be that way, but my mom is usually very chill." I exaggerated. My curfew was ten on school days and midnight on the weekends. The only reason I got away with staying out late sometimes was because my mom would work night shift most weekends, same for Kellin too.

"That sounds cool." He nodded.

We stayed with them for a little bit longer before it was time for us to get to Kellin's house before breaking curfew. Alex and Vic walked us to my car. Then Alex came to open my door for me and Vic did the same for Kellin.

"So I'll see you this Saturday?" Alex asked and I nodded happily.

"Yes we'll be there. What time does it start again?" I asked.

"Uh I think Zack said eight. I'll ask him when I get home and I'll text you about it." He said.

"Alright!" I exclaimed. He opened his arms to hug me again and this time I hugged him with no hesitation.

"Bye." He said.

"Bye, Alex."

I waved bye to Vic, and Kellin and I got in to go home. I stopped by my house to pick up clothes and then I took us to his house.

Kellin's mom was in bed when made it too his house so we told her goodnight and went to get ready for bed.

"Oh my God! Alex likes you so much!" Kellin teased while I was in the shower.

"Shut up!" I yelled over the water at him.

"I can tell. You two are going to become a thing and he's going to be your first and-"

"Kellin!" I yelled at him. I swear I did this at least once a day.

"What? Don't say you haven't thought about it. I know you have. It's impossible not to."

"Okay yes I have." I turned off the water so I could get out of the shower. "But I don't think I could. He's too old! It's illegal for us to sleep together!"

"Yeah but who's gonna tell on you? Look Vic and I have fucked too many times to count and do you see any cops coming to arrest him?"

"That's more information than I needed." I sighed and he laughed.

"I'm just trying to show you that there's nothing to worry about. I mean you shouldn't force yourself to do it if you're not ready, but also don't not do it because you're afraid of getting in trouble. Just do whatever makes you comfortable." He told me. All I could think about was him having sex with Vic. Ugh I need to go to sleep.

"Okay I got it. Now let's be done with this conversation and go to bed."

I'm going out of town for spring break so I'm going to have to upload the new chapter on Tuesday instead of Monday. I'm sorry!
