What's My Age Again?

"May! May wake up! It's Christmas! Let's go open our presents!" I exclaimed.

May stayed the night last night so she could wake up Christmas morning with our mom and me. Now it was eight am and she wouldn't get up.

"No Jack." She mumbled from under her pillow.

"Please! I don't want open gifts on my own." I pleaded and she sighed.

"Is mom up yet?" She asked.

"No I was going to wake her next." I told her.

"Okay go wake mom up first then I'll get up."

"Fine." I pouted and went downstairs. I went to my mom’s room to get her up.

My mom was sleeping so peacefully I almost didn't want to wake her, but it was Christmas.

"Mom wake up!" I shook her and her eyes popped open.

"What? What happened?" She asked.

"It's Christmas!" I repeated.

"Oh yeah that's right. Are we opening presents now?" She yawned.

"Yeah, well May said I could wake her once you were up."

"Okay well go get her while I brush my teeth." She told me and I nodded.

I went back upstairs to May again. "May, mom's up so get up." I told her.

"Ugh okay I'm getting up now." She huffed and get out of bed.

I went to sit by the tree and wait for them downstairs. I knew one of my gifts had to be my iPad which is why I was so eager to open presents. That's the only thing I was dying for this year. I pulled out my phone and texted Alex and Kellin 'Merry Christmas.' Kellin texted me back the same, but Alex didn't reply. He usually didn't wake up until noon anyways.

May and Mom walked in almost at the same so we were ready to open gifts. I handed them both their gifts and they handed me my gifts and each other's gifts. I felt bad because their gifts were wrapped horribly by me and theirs looked perfect. I bought May a MAC gift card since she told me to get her either MAC or Sephora. My mom told me to surprise her so I bought her the white diamonds perfume set. She seemed pretty happy when she opened it, which was good because it cost me almost a hundred dollars. I spent my whole child support check on Christmas gifts this month.

"Okay Jacky now open your gifts." My mom told me.

I opened the one May got me first which was an outfit from hot topic. She bought me a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a Panic at the Disco shirt. I almost accidentally told her that I got the chance to meet Brendon Urie, but I stopped myself before I said it.

"Thanks May, I love it!" I exclaimed and hugged her. We pulled away and I looked at my mother so she could give me my gift next.

"Here you go." My mom smiled at me as she handed me the neatly wrapped box.

I quickly ripped open the paper and examined the box. It was a cereal box. Her and May burst into laughter at the confused look on my face. She tricked me!

"Mommy where is it?!?" I whined.

"Right here." She chuckled and reached all the way behind the tree. She pulled out another neatly wrapped present and tried to hand it to me. I looked at it skeptically, not knowing whether or not I could trust her.

"Take it. I promise it's the real present." She told me.

I slowly grabbed the gift from her and ripped off the paper again. This time there was an iPad Air 2 box in it. I quickly hugged it to my chest and thanked my mom.

"Thank you, Mom!" I kissed her on the cheek and she smiled.

"You're welcome, Honey."

May cleaned up the wrapping paper we had thrown all over the floor while I set up my iPad. It was everything I imagined it to be. I couldn't thank my mom enough for it. I could have bought it myself, but it would have taken a little while for me to save up for it.

May finished cleaning and came to sit next to my mom and me. It was quiet for a while then our mom spoke.

"On a scale from one to ten how angry would you two be if I went to meet up with Avery really quick to exchange gifts?" She asked.

"You bought each other's gifts?" I asked and she nodded.

"How long would you be with him?" May asked.

"Not long. We're just going to exchange gifts...then I'm going to meet his daughter." She mumbled the last part, but May and I heard her.

"He has a daughter?!" We both asked shocked.

"Yes." Mom answered.

"Why didn't you tell us?" I asked.

"I just wanted to see how serious we were going to get before I told you two anything."

"Oh well you have two kids so I guess it isn't totally weird that he has one too." May said understandingly, but I was still kind of thrown off. I didn't want my mom to replace me and start talking care of another person.

"How old is she?" I asked, jealously.

"She's nineteen."

"Oh okay." I shrugged. She wasn't a little kid so I didn't care anymore.

"So you two won't mind if I go visit him for a few minutes?" She asked again.

"No Mom go ahead." May told her and I agreed.

"Okay I'll be right back." She smiled and went to go change her clothes.

I went back to setting up my iPad. We weren't going to do anything until later on tonight. My mom was going to cook dinner and we were going to watch Christmas movies.

"Your phone is ringing." May told me. I picked it up and saw Kellin's picture.

"Hello." I answered.

"Hey! Did you get an iPad?" He asked.

"Yep! My mom and May tricked me at first. I unwrapped a Cheerios box the first time." I complained and he and May laughed.

"Stop complaining! At least you got it."

"Yeah yeah. What did you get?"

"I just wanted clothes so my mom took me on a mini shopping spree last week." He said.

"That's it?" I asked.

"Yeah clothes and two pairs of shoes. My list was really simple this year."

"I know because I had a hard time choosing what to get you." I told him.

"What did you get me?"

"I can't tell you."

"Well come over so we can give each other our gifts." He suggested.

"Okay I'll be over in a few." I said and we hung up.

"I'm going to go exchange gifts with Kellin." I told May.

"Oh good I can go back to sleep while you two are gone." She smiled and I rolled my eyes at her.

I went to my Mom's room to let her know that I was leaving. She was slipping on her shoes when I walked in.

"Mom is it alright if I go take Kellin his gifts?" I asked.

"Yeah Honey of course." She said.

"Okay I'll be back."

I left and grabbed Kellin's gift from under the tree. I grabbed my car keys and went out to my car. Alex's gift was in my trunk so no one would accidentally see it. If I had time, and he woke up, I would try to take it to him before going back home.

I made it to Kellin's house a few minutes later and rang the doorbell. His mom answered the door for me.

"Hey Jack!" She greeted me.

"Hi." I smiled and she let me in.

"Where's your mom?" She asked.

"She's going to meet Avery and go exchange gifts with him." I told her and she playfully rolled her eyes.

"She is already head-over-hills for that guy." She joked and went into the kitchen.

Kellin was lying on the couch playing with his phone. I went over and moved his legs so I could sit next to him. I placed his gift on his stomach and waited for him to finish his text message.

"Sorry." He apologized and sat up. "My cousins were asking what I got for Christmas." He explained.

"It's cool. Are you guys going over your aunt’s house later on?" I asked.

"Yeah. My mom is cooking something to take over there now." He said. "What are you guys doing tonight?"

"My mom is making dinner and we're going to eat and watch Christmas movies."

"Has your mom said anything about visiting your family?" He asked.

"I know she wants too but she's always working. I think she's going to try and see if we can go this upcoming summer." I said and he nodded.

"That's cool."

"Yeah. Do you want to open our gifts now?" I asked.

"Oh yeah. Let me go get yours." He got up and went to their tree and pulled out my present. "Here you go." He said as he handed me the gift bag.

I opened mine first it was the Panic at the Disco: Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die vinyl and a twenty dollar Starbucks gift card. That was my favorite second album of theirs but I didn't have a record player to play it on.

"I love it Kellin, but I don't have a way to play it." I told him and he gulped.

"Oh uh it's um nice to look at isn't it?" He stammered.

"Yeah it is." I agreed. "Now open yours."

He ripped off the paper and gasped. I bought him a Chi hair straightener. He causally brought up the fact that his wasn't getting as hot as it used too, but I don't think he remembered telling me that.

"Jack! Thank you!" He exclaimed. "How did you know I needed a new one?"

"You're welcome! And I remembered you telling me that yours wasn't working so well." I told him.

"Oh my god these are so expensive though." He said.

"Yeah but Ulta had a sale and a coupon so I got it kind of cheap." I laughed.

"I want to use it now. Come on." He had me follow him to his bathroom. He plugged the straightener into the wall so it could warm up.

"So you haven't gave Alex his gift yet?" He asked as he combed his hair.

"No not yet. I was going to do it yesterday but he was going to visit his parents. I'm pretty sure he's going to visit them again later on today."

"Well why don't you go before he leaves?"

"Yeah I'm planning on stopping by before I go back home."

"Oh. What did you get him?"

"He told me if I had to buy him one thing he would like it to be a new pair of pants so o got him these American flag jeans since most jeans look alike any ways. Then I bought him a pair of tan combat boots since he already has black."

"Aw I'm sure he would love anything you bought him." He gushed as he began to straighten his hair.

"Hopefully he will. What did Vic get you?" I asked and immediately regretted it.

"A vibrator." He giggled as my face fell.

"Why?" I couldn't stop myself from asking.

"So I could use it while he was away on tour. I need something while he's gone." He said and I sighed. "He also bought me this necklace." He pulled out a necklace that was hidden under his shirt.

"Aw it's cute." It was a silver heart that had both of their initials on it.

"Yeah he can be really sappy when he wants to be." He smiled and went back to doing his hair.

I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. It was Alex calling me. I sat down on the edge of Kellin's bathtub and answered it.

"Merry Christmas!" He sounded like he just woke up.

"Hey! Merry Christmas!" I told him.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"I came over Kellin's to give him his gift and get mine. What about you?"

"I literally just woke up." He chuckled.

"You are so lazy." I joked.

"Shut up. Are you going to stop by mines or should I come to your house to give you your gifts?" He asked.

"I was going to come over once I left Kellin's house." I quickly answered.

"Okay I'll be here until three."

"I can come over now." I told him.

"That's even better. I'll see you in a few minutes."

"Okay bye." I said and we hung up.

"Are you leaving me?" Kellin asked.

"Yeah Alex finally woke up." I said.

"Alright. I'm pretty sure my mom and I will be over tomorrow."

"Okay I'll see you later." I got up and went to tell his mom goodbye.

"Are you leaving, Sweetheart?" She asked as she saw me walk in the kitchen with my car keys.

"Yeah I just came to give Kellin his gift." I told her.

"Okay well be careful! We'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye!" I said and left.

I drove to Alex's and he left me in their house. He was still in his pajamas which was super cute. I kissed him before handing him his gifts.

"You bought me two things?" He asked and I laughed.

"Yeah I didn't know which one you would like better so I got you both." I told him.

"I'm sure I'm gonna like both." He said. He sat the two boxes down then went to the tree and pulled out two gifts and handed them to me.

"You bought me two things?" I said, mocking the same thing he just told me.

"Just open them." He chuckled.

"You open yours first." I argued.

"I asked you to first!"

"I handed you yours first!"

"Fine I'll go first." He ripped open the box with the pants first. He pulled them out and smiled.

"These look so fucking cool!" He exclaimed.

"I was hoping you would like them." I said.

"I do!" He stood up and pulled his pajama pants off and put the jeans on. They fit perfectly and he modeled them around for me.

"I am going to wear these while we're on tour." He said proudly and I laughed.

"I'm glad you like them so much." I told him.

He opened his next box with the boots in it. He loved them almost as much as the pants. I got the same reaction from him that I did when he opened the pants.

"You are a great gift buyer. You bought me things that I didn't even know I wanted." He said and I giggled.

"Thank you!"

"Mhm. Now open yours! The bigger one first!"

I grabbed the two presents from next to me on the couch. The bigger present was kind of heavy. I pulled off the wrapping paper and saw it was a Crosley record player. That explain why Kellin bought me that record.

"Alex!" I exclaimed. "I love it!"

"Thank God. I asked Kellin for help and he said that you wanted one of these." He exhaled in relief.

"Yeah and you even got the red and black one like I wanted!" I reached up to kiss him.

"Yep! I'm basically the best boyfriend ever." He gloated and I rolled my eyes.

"I guess." I joked.

"Just open you're other gift." He demanded.

I opened the other one that felt lighter and was really flat. It was my favorite Panic at the disco album: A Fever You Can't Sweat Out and the Don't Panic Vinyl wrapped together.

"Yaaay! These are literally my two favorite CDs right now." I kissed him again. He held on to my face and kept our lips together. He rubbed his hand up the back of my thigh and I pulled away.

"No we can't. I have to go home and help my mom cook." I whined.

"I can't even thank you for my gifts?" He whispered in my ear. I was so tempted to get out of my clothes right then.

"You already told me thanks."

"Yeah but now I want to show you how thankful I am." He said seductively.

"Hm I don't know." I mumbled as he kissed up my neck.

"I'll be really quick, like five minutes." He promised.

"...fine." I agreed.

He picked me up, through me over his shoulder, and carried me to his room.
