The Essex Affect

The Boy and The Place

I slammed my fists onto the table again and sighed as I covered my face with my hands. Why must them idiots fuck everything up? I love Austin and Alan to death, really. But they just had to say that bullshit. Yeah, I talk about how I think Alex is adorable as hell, and yeah I might have a little puppy crush on him. But I just met the guy yesterday, and then fuckers had to go and ruin something I was enjoying. “Explain to me why you guys had to do that shit?” I questioned my two ‘friends’ sitting in front of me.

“We were just messing around. We didn’t think he would take it to heart like that.” Austin commented.

“You guys don’t know him like I do. It’s harder on him than anyone else.” I stated.

“You have known the guy for about a day, if that, how could you know more about him than we do?” Alan asked.

“I know a lot more than you would think.” I said grabbed my lunch tray and backpack, standing up and throwing away my trash and flinging the strap over my shoulder.

“Where are you going? Lunch is not over yet.” Austin complained, thinking I was going to make them go with me or something.

“You two are going to stay here and enjoy your lunch. I’m going to go find my friend.” With those words I started walking thru the lunch room, also making it out before he got stopped right at the door.

“Jacky! It’s so nice to see you again! I have missed you so much!” A brown haired girl by the name of Taylor, said as she ran up to me and hugged me, even if I didn’t hug her back. I liked everyone that talked to me, even the ones that didn’t talk to me, but if there was one person in the whole world that I didn’t like. That person would be little miss Taylor. “Jacky! You should so come over to my place tonight, we could hang out, do some homework. Or other stuff.” She winked at him and he rolled his eyes.

“Taylor, you have known this since our Freshmen year. I don’t like girls. I’m gay.” Jack complained, looking out the lunch room door, trying to let her know that he was in a rush.

“Come on, Jack! Try not being gay for a night! Have you ever even had sex with a girl?” Taylor questioned. I couldn’t take being around her anymore so I just ignored her and walked out of the door, almost sprinting down the halls to find the teal haired boy who I called my friend.

I looked in every classroom he passed, hoping he would see the colorful hair of the boy out of the corner of his eye. I couldn’t seem to find him anywhere in the downstairs halls, so he took the stairs up and went to the second floor, hoping to see Alex at his locker. But no such luck was had in my search. I continued his fast pace walking down the halls, looking in every room, looking past every corner.

I passed the Freshmen science room, it was empty. I turned to go look in a different room but something outside the window caught his eye. I walked over to the glass and looked out, seeing the track field, with the big old oak tree next to it. And under the oak tree I noticed a mop or blue-ish colored hair, knowing that it belonged to the one that I was in the search for.

I ran out of the classroom, running down the stairs and out the closet door to me. I jogged thru the parking lot and slowed my pace as I entered the track field and walked over to the tree. I sat next to the boy and sighed. “Alex. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings or anything. My friends were just being stupid and I kinda just got really upset with them.” He looked up at me and I could see the tears flowing from his eyes down his cheeks. It hurt me to know that I was the one that caused the boy the pain.

“It’s not your fault. I was just thinking about something that happened before I came here, that’s all.” Alex spoke softly to me.

“Wanna talk about it?” I asked, keeping my voice quiet as well, not wanting to scare him.

“Not really. Maybe some other time.” I nodded my head in understanding, not wanting to push him into anything. “This is a really beautiful spot out here.” He looked around us, me following with my eyes as well.

“That’s true. I used to come out here to think like Freshmen year thru Junior year.”

“Why not anymore?”

“Guess I don’t really need to. Things have been going okay lately, hey, they even got better when I met you. You’re a sweet guy and so caring. I like that.” I could see a blush form on his cheeks as he put his head down. “Guess what?” He looked back up at me with a questioning look. “I used to call this place my place. But now that you are out here with me. I think we should call it our place. And whenever something goes wrong, no matter what happens, how we feel, or anything. We both should come right here to this spot and just think about life. What do you think?”

“Our place?” He smiled a bit as I nodded my head. “I like that idea. Our place.”

Notes

Sorry it's short, but it's just a filler chapter.

I haven't had the best of days today, but it's whatever.
