A Love Like War
It's Some Type Of Plan . . . Right?
Jack
I didn’t know what to say. Was I hearing him right? I mean, Baltimore was his home, our home. Did he mean he wanted to leave us? Again? I put my legs over the edge of the bed and put my hands over my face. Alex sat next to me but I got up.
“Baby?” He whispered quietly.
“I’ll be back in a few minutes. I just need some time to think.” I said as left our bedroom to go down stairs and went right into the kitchen. It was currently almost one in the morning, and I wasn’t even that tired. I went to the fridge and opened it up, getting a drink out. I felt something rub on my leg and I looked down to see Boo repeatedly rubbing on my leg. I bent down and picked her up, bringing her into the living room and sat her on my lap as I sat down on the couch. She instantly curled up into a ball and fell asleep.
I continued to drink my bottle of water, thinking about everything that is going on. How far out of state did Alex want to even go? Would he even want me and Miracle to go with him? I sighed at my thoughts and shook my head. “What the hell am I going to do?” I whispered to myself. I thought to myself for a few more minutes before taking my phone out of my pocket and calling up Matty. He worked at the shop, sorting things out till three in the morning, every single night, so I knew he would answer.
To which he did on the third ring.
“Hey Jack? What’s got you calling so late?” His voice rung through.
“Uh, I have a question to ask.”
“Sure go ahead.”
“If I were to move out of state, would you be able to like mail the paperwork to me over night? And I’ll mail it back the next day? Same with my checks?”
“I’m sure I could work that out. But why are you asking?”
“Alex wants to go out of state for college. I can’t be without him anymore, nor can Miracle.” I heard him let out a chuckle.
“Just come into work tomorrow and we will get everything sorted out.” I could hear the small smile on his face.
“Thanks Matty, you’re awesome.” I smiled to myself.
“Don’t I know it.” He chuckled. “Alright, I’ll see you in the morning, night Jack.”
“See ya then, bye Matty.” I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket, picking up Boo and bringing her upstairs with me as I went back into the room to tell Alex my plan. I mean, that’s if he even wants Miracle and I to go with him.
