Third Times A Charm
Chapter Six
Alex and I were on our way to our date. My hand was resting carefully on his thigh as we were driving to the first place we had ever gone together. Or well, as close as I could get here in Baltimore. I looked over at my blue haired angel, my everything. He was the only person I knew was always going to stand by my side and support me. He took me back after I lied to him and misused his trust. I loved him more than I would ever be able to put into words.
"Where are we going babe," he asked me quietly.
"It's a surprise but I can promise you that you're gonna like it," I told him.
"I trust you baby."
I tightened my grip on his thigh as if to tell him I was protecting him. It didn't make any sense at this moment however it was a promise in a way. It was a promise that I was always going to protect him like I had always tried to do. He deserved more than me but he wanted me anyway, maybe that's what love really is.
I pulled up to the park and parked carefully. He stared a me, a question evident in his eyes. I pulled a blanket out of the back as Alex jumped out of the vehicle. I took his hand as we walked towards the field in the park. I threw the blanket out and spread it out. Alex smiled at me and laid down on the blanket. I followed suit, pulling him into my side.
He rested his head on my chest and there was no sound other than our breaths (well and the cicadas too but that just happens). Nothing was better than this very moment. Maybe this was a glimpse of heaven. I looked down at he perfect man who was lying on my chest, his eyes transfixed on the stars.
"You're really cute, you know that right," I asked.
"What do you mean," he said.
"I mean I've been staring at you for the past few minutes and you haven't noticed. You're so fascinated by the stars, by space. It's adorable. You're adorable."
He smiled and pecked my lips carefully before turning his attention back to the sky. There was ne thing I wanted to do and if I didn't do it this second I was going to chicken out. I quickly sat up, startling Alex. He stared at me in shock as I faced him. I pulled the box out of my pocket, facing Alex carefully.
"Jack, what's going on," he asked.
"Alex, I know it hasn't been long and I know that we've had some problems in our relationship. I can't lose you again, I need you in my life. I know I haven't always been the best boyfriend, in fact, there's been times I've been the shittest boyfriend in the world. You're a fantastic father to our children and you are the kindest man I've ever met.
"You make me want to be a better person, a better boyfriend. You make me want to give you everything you deserve, which is the world, and I plan to give you everything I can. I know I'm kind of rambling and it's just because I'm afraid that you aren't going to say yes. Alex, will you marry me," I asked.
I opened the box revealing a beautiful wedding band. Alex's eyes grew as he eyed the band, his expression was unreadable. I was nervously biting my lip, dying to hear his voice give me an answer.
Notes
Enjoy a cliff hanger :) was that a Jalex proposal? I think it was!! So, I'm a dirty liar and horrible with updates, I've just been busy with getting stuff for school. Also, I'm like kind of seeing someone too, the whole situation is really confusing and I'm probably going to call it off. I've not been feeling great today so that might mean more updates as well.
