Chapter Twenty - Nine

Jack

I fell to the ground in shock. I was now on the floor of the back lounge. I was a father. Like, I was a father and I was in no shape to raise children. I just looked up to the sky, completely forgetting that I was on the phone with Alex. What was I even supposed to say?

"Jack, are you still there," Alex said.

"Yeah, I'm just really taken aback," I stammered.

"Are you fine with my decision?"

"Well, I mean, I want to be in my kids life. I mean, I'm a family person and I can't bear to realize that I would never get to see my kid. I mean, imagine what they could do in life. Yeah, we'll sign the necessary papers for my kid."

I hung up the phone, dropping it to the floor. I put my head in my hands, the one fucking time I don't. The one time I'm not careful this happens. I'm such an idiot, I'm such a fool. Why did Alex take me back, I never once deserved him. I ran my hand through my hair.

"What up," Johnny asked quietly.

"I'm a father," I said.

"Care to explain because last time I checked you have a boyfriend."

"I do have a boyfriend. You know about my encounters well I got paid from most of them and my most recent one was with Zack's, you remember me talking about him, ex-girlfriend. Well, apparently she's pregnant."

"That's rough, what'd Alex say?"

"He told Steph that'd we sign all the necessary paperwork to be the parents. I guess which means giving me custody of the child. I'm a father."

He nodded at me, turning his attention back to the TV. I kind of wanted a drink but I refused to let myself go back into that cycle. I wasn't going to get drunk to avoid the truth anymore. I sighed, pulling myself onto the couch, picking up my guitar from the stand in the lounge. I began to mess around with the notes, trying to come up with something.

"Don't hurt yourself thinking Jay," Johnny said smiling.

"Just play your game," I said back at him.

I stood up figuring I should probably tell the rest of my band seeing as they were practically family. I walked into the front room, staring at the front of the bus, attempting to keep my balance. I walked in and saw them joking around and drinking, them knowing not to ask me.

"So guy's guess what," I said, actually kind of happy.

"What," Brian said, smiling.

"I'm a father."

Notes

Not my favorite chapter ever but they're gonna keep the kid :) I went out shopping before I posted this and didn't realize I was going to be gone for like two hours but I had to buy more hair dye. I hope you enjoy this.

My college is doing a bunch of activities that freshman are required to go to which is pretty nice. My best friends going to be three and half hours I think. I'm just really nervous cause I don't know anyone on campus.

No problem. And long distance friendships are hard but they can work. My best friend is four hours away when I'm at college but we talk a lot and hang out when we can. If the first night at college feels lonely and you don't feel like socializing, get some junk food and your favorite movie and let yourself get used to being somewhere new with some things that are familiar.

You are awesome, thank you. My 'rents aren't gonna let me visit on weekends but worst comes to worst I'm practically in a national forest with the beauty of nature surrounding me no matter where I go. I've calmed down a lot but tomorrow's gonna be bad because I say final goodbye's to all my friends which will be real hard.

Four hours isn't so bad. Just far enough that you feel like you have some freedom but not too far for weekend visits. Making friends on campus will help you settle in, but your online friends got your back too :)
