Jack

Today was a lot of fun, I was really glad that I had talked Alex into leaving Baltimore. He seemed to have fun too. Currently his head was against my shoulder and my arm was wrapped around his waist. We were sitting on the couch with Austin watching The Shining. My phone started ringing and I saw it was Zack. I excused myself, answering the phone.

"Hey Zee," I said.

"Jack, come home please," Zack said.

"Why? We're with Austin. I don't want to go home, I'm happy here."

"Jack, you need to live in the reality. You can't just live in this fantasy world forever. You're supposed to be in California and Alex is supposed to be in Baltimore. It's that simple. You weren't supposed to meet. You aren't supposed to be with him."

"I'm happy Zee, why is that not enough for you?"

"Because you deserve so much more."

"Who I pick is my decision. You picked Steph, I picked Alex. You decided on her, I decided on him. Why can you not be happy?"

"Because I'm in love with you Jay!"

I dropped the phone and it clattered again the floor. My mouth was probably hanging open. Just, what do I even say? Zee was my best friend, that's it.

"What the fuck," I screamed.

"Jay," Alex said, running into the room, "are you alright?"

"I need some time alone. Just, I'll be back eventually."

"Jay, can we talk about this?"

"Lex, I just need to process some things."

I walked out of the house and into the humid air. How did Zack...? Like.. he was straight. I mean, he was my best friend what does he mean by he loves me. I stuck my hand in Austin's jacket and found a pack of cigarettes. I stuck one in my mouth and lit it up.

I inhaled the toxin and let it take over me. I needed it right now. I couldn't wrap my mind around what I had just heard. I never knew that me leaving my phone at Austin's would end up perfectly.

Notes

Have some drama, this is the only update I will be throwing up today and I'm sorry it's short. Luckily I have tomorrow off work but no promises on updates.
