Somewhere In Neverland

Chapter Twenty - Seven.

Wendy’s POV

It has been a week since the whole break-up thing with Alex and I. To say my depression has got worse, would be the truth. But today I promised I would take Kara out to the park, just to have a girls day out. Mostly because she has been begging me to get out of my bed and just get out. I have noticed her on her phone a lot more often, whenever I ask her who she is texting, she always tells me that it’s just a online friend she has made. Do I believe her? I mean, sure, why not? She has never lied to me before, so why shouldn’t I believe her? I was currently straightening my hair, since I just blow dried my hair, after I took my shower. I was wearing a pair of dark purple skinny jeans, with a Green Day sweater. Yes, it was really hot out, but I needed to hide my wrists. I have to admit, no matter how bad my depression got, I never did something like that, but there was just something about the break-up with Alex that hurt more than anything in the world.

“You ready, Wen?” Kara asked as she entered my bathroom. I turned off my hair straightener and turned and gave her a small smile. And no, she didn’t know about my self-harm marks, and there was no way I was ever going to let her find out. “And why are you wearing a sweater? Do you know how hot it is out there?”

“I feel like I might be coming down with a cold or something. I’ll be fine.” I lied right through my teeth. She nodded her head in understanding, and we walked out of my bathroom together. I went over to my bed and sat down as I picked up my black Vans and put them on my feet. “You got everything you need, girly?” She sent me a smile and nodded her head. I grabbed my phone off the table, and put it in my pocket, not that I am ever going to need it anymore. The only person who ever texts me is Alex, trying to apologize, but I’m never letting any guy back into my life. Kara and I walked down the stairs together and over to the door, where I grabbed my house keys off the small table next to it. We walked out the door, and I locked and shut the it behind us.

“So, are we going to drive or walk?” She asked looking at me with a smile.

“We can walk. I need to get gas in my car before I take it anywhere.” I let out a small laugh. She laughed as well, and we walked down the driveway. Kara brought her phone out of her pocket and started to type on it. “Texting that online friend again?”

“Sure am!” She spoke with a smile. I smiled back at her. I’m glad she made a new friend, even if it was just someone over the internet, sometimes they can be better than friends in real life. I was broke from my thoughts at the blasting sound of Blink coming from beside me. I looked back over at Kara and she was jumping around as she waved her hand, that was holding her cell phone, in the air as it blasted the sweet sound. I couldn’t help but jump around as we walked down the street. Who can ever resist the amazing sound of Blink-182? Not me, that’s for sure. We continued to dance down the side-walk as we walked to the park. Reminded me of our first ever day here in Baltimore. The first day we met them. And that’s when I stopped dancing around, right when I saw the swings come into view of our sight. I stopped walking, making Kara stop walking and dancing as well.

“Everything okay, Wendy?” She asked with a worried look.

“Yeah. It’s just, I think we might need to have a little race.” I said as a smirk grew on my face. She caught onto what I was saying and she took off. I gave her a five second head-start before I started running as well. I caught up to her in no time at all. I reached the swings before her, just like always. Kara sighed and sat on her swing.

“You know, you could at least let me win one time!” She said with a small laugh.

“You have to earn it, sister-dear.” I said as I pushed my feet off the ground and started to swing back and forth. I heard Kara’s phone go off again, and she opened the message, then looked down the road. I followed her eyes, and they landed on three boys who were walking into the park and coming over to us. “What are they doing here, Kara?” I asked looking back over to her.

“Remember how I told you I was texting a online friend all this time?” She asked looking at me. I nodded my head. “Well, I lied, I was texting Jack the whole time. Now stay in that seat.” I sighed and looked back over to the boys who had just stopped in front of us.

“What do you guys want?” I asked with another sigh.

“Well hello to you to Miss. Wendy.” Zack chuckled. I had nothing against Zack, Jack, or Rian. I just didn’t like the fact that they were friends with a prick named Alex.

“Don’t sass me boy.” I shot at him. I then noticed that Zack and Jack both had guitars in their hands, and Rian sat down in front of us on a little wooden box thing. “Why the hell do you guys have that stuff?”

“This is why.” Rian said with a smirk.

“Come on over, Alex.” Jack said turning to look behind him. I looked behind him and Alex was walking over with a white rose in his hands. I groaned at the sight and tried to stand up off my swing to walk away, but was stopped.

“If you move from that seat, I swear to God you will regret it, Wendy.” Kara spoke.

“You did not just talk to me that way!” I said with shock.

“Well I did. Now stay in that swing and listen to what is about to happen.” She spoke as she turned her head back to the, now four boys, standing in front of us.

“Hello Wendy.” Alex spoke shyly. I groaned in response. “Well, that seems to be the best I am going to get out of you right now. Anyways, I got you this.” He spoke as he held the rose out to me. I gave him a look of annoyance and he pulled his hand back to himself.

“Wendy. Take the damn rose.” Kara spoke.

“Watch your mouth.” I shot at her. I never get mad at Kara, but with this guy standing in front of me, I was about to blow up on anyone and everyone.

“Alex, just give it to me. I’ll give it to her after you guys finish.” Kara said holding out her hand to him. He nodded his head and handed the rose to her.

“Well, Wendy. I wrote you a song.” Alex spoke. A song? He wrote me a song? What the hell? I looked at him confused and he continued talking. “This song is called Somewhere In Neverland.” And with that, Zack and Jack started playing their guitars, and Rian started making a beat on the wooden box thing. Which I’m guessing was a thing drummers use when they are performing acoustic sets. Then, I heard a voice that sounded like a angel, I looked up at Alex and he was starting to sing.
