"Zack, seriously. Let go!" I said, irritated. Matt deserved every hit. I had no idea he had such a low opinion of me. How could he think I would do anything to hurt Rina? I would do anything for her. I was ready to commit myself to this baby. I know she's his sister, but I though he knew me better than that. "Not until you've calmed down" He told us, still hanging on to both me and Matt by our collars. "I am calm!" Matt complained. I laugh without humour. "Shut up Alex" Matt spat at me. "You gunna make me?" I challenged, struggling against Zack to get closer to him. Matt threw his fist at me, but Zack managed to drag him back far enough for it to miss me. "Guys!" Jack shouted, looking at us in disbelief. I hadn't even noticed he was standing there before. "Are you serious!? How long have you known each other? Look at you, tearing lumps out of each other...it is so stupid" Jack was being serious for once. Rina was stood a little behind him, nodding sternly in agreement. Her eyes met mine and she held my gaze. I immediately felt awful. Her eyes were wide with stress, the heavy lines underneath showed how exhausted she was. She had enough to deal with. I sighed. "Zack, I'm okay. Let me go" I said quietly. He gave me a questionable look, but decided to let me go. "I'm sorry" I mouthed to Rina as I walked past her, climbing the stairs to sit on my own for a while. I sat with my back against the wall in the hallway, resting my head between my hands. I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath in. My knuckles began to sting as I ran my fingers through my hair. What a mess. There was no way I was giving up on Rina. I promised her I'd stick by her no matter what. I just had to work out a way to make Matt believe that I was good for her. I jumped as a hand appeared on my shoulder. "Hey" Rina gave me a small smile. "Hey" I replied, my voice sounded strange to me. I leant my head on her shoulder. "What are you doing sat up here?" She said, leaning in to meet me. I shrugged lightly, sighing. "I just needed to calm down, work some stuff out in my head" "How's that working out?" She asked, I could hear the smile in her voice. "Not as well as I hoped" I laughed though I didn't find any of this funny. "Can I help?" Rina asked, drawing lazy circles on the back of my hand. "I don't know" I told her honestly. I wasnt sure if anything could help this situation. We sat there in silence for a while before Rina spoke up. "Matts calmed down now. Do you think you should talk it out?" "I don't think this is really something that can be talked out" I sat up, running a hand through my hair. Rina gently turned my chin so I was facing her. "Please try. For me?" Her eyes begging me. I couldn't say no to her. I hugged. "Fine. Where is he?" "In the kitchen" I stood up, pulling her with me. She said she would wait in the lounge, which was probably for the best. Rina pecked me just below my jaw before I made my way into the kitchen. He was sat to the table, looking as bummed out as I felt. "Hi" I sat opposite Matt. He looked up at me, nodding once. "Look. I'm sorry" "Me too. But you've got to understand, with all the other shit going on at the moment, I can't deal with this Alex" "You don't have to deal with anything, that's my point. I care about Rina, I want to help her. You can trust me, you know you can Matt" "Alex..." He looked at me, warning me. I knew I was treading close to the line. "I promised her I'd be there...don't make me break that promise" "well you shouldn't be making promises you can't keep then" He snapped. "You are insufferable, do you know that?!" "Get the fuck away from me then!" He stood up, banging his hands onto the table. "Guys!" Jack shreaked from the next room. Me and Matt immediately followed Jacks voice. He was knelt next to Rina on the floor, she was clutching her chest.
