Jack
Matt and Alex stand on either side of me. I've never seen them like this. I've never seen Alex get so protective of a girl this quickly, same for Matt. Rina stands looking at the both of them her mouth partially open in surprise?
"Long enough." She mutters quietly and walks into the room and goes straight to the fruit bowl grabbing a banana.
"Rina.." Matt starts,
"I don't need to hear it Matt." She takes a bite of the banana and sits down, she looks down at the counter in thought.
"Good going." Alex mouthes to Matt who gives him a angry look and clenched his fist.
"Matt." I snap
"Jack." He looks at me with a hard expression.
"Boys." Rina groans, "seriously just eat breakfast. You're all hungry and Matthew you always are grumpy when your hungry." I'm going to remember that. One of the pros of having Rina here is getting to hear all about Matt. Get some good blackmail material.
"I'm not hungry." He snaps at her only drawing a slightly hurt expression from her,
"Fine." She keeps a blank face but just from her eyes you can
Tell she's already in a terrible mood because of that.
"I'm sorry." Matt sighs and looks down, "you're right." Matt watches her waiting for the response she never gives. Instead Alex pushes past both of us and starts making himself toast.
We all sit around the kitchen quietly, awkwardly. Alex sits directly next to Rina seeming to only want to get a bad reaction from Matt. Matt sits across from them trying his best to be calm, he's doing a terrible in comparison to what he usually does when Alex or I piss him off on tour.
"So, do we have plans for today?" I try to break the silence awkwardly. "We could go out with Rina again." I suggest. All three of them look up at me silently with disbelieving expressions. It takes me a minute to process, after what happened last time we went out i understand the reaction. "I meant like dinner or something!"
"Jack could you just..." Matt says stiffly,
"It's a good idea." Alex ignores him, "Jack, you and I could bring her to that crab shack down by the pier." He smiles,
"I'd like that." She smiles probably glad some of the tention has lifted a little bit.
"I guess I'll just start working on your next tour promotions and looking for my temporary replacement." Matt sighs
"Replacement?" Alex raises an eyebrow
"I have to stay and help Rina out." He gives Alex a look, not sure what kind of look. Somewhere between are you stupid and I'm so pissed.
"We'll talk about this all later." I cut in not wanting there to be any more tension then needed, not around Rina. "Alex, Matt can I talk to you two in private?" Rina raises an eyebrow at me,
"I'll go unpack my suitcase then." She sighs and stands up.
"You can stay we'll leave." Matt holds a hand out to Rina to stop her.
"It's okay." She smiles at Matt and dissaplears back behind the door again.
"Okay you guys. Matt I know you get pissed at Alex all the time. I don't know how many girls we've found in the bus we don't know. I'm guilty of it too i know, but seriously Matt. You have to give him a little credit. We are all technically adults here. And so is Rina let her make her own choices, and Alex. Dammit bro, that's Matt's little sister you don't have to be so protective of her already. It's almost weird how fast you're trying to move things. Rina is a great girl and all but she's also pregnant. Lets be real because if you try to like.. Hook up with her."
"Hey." Matt snaps,
"You'll have to take a whole lot of more responsible-ness." I continue pointedly looking at Matt, "and seriously Alex, how realistic is that?"
"I'm ready to try." Alex throws his arms in the air
"To be a dad? To deal with a pregnant girlfriend? Deal with doctors appointments? Help her pay for a kid that she's not ready for?" Matt glares at Alex, his voice slowly getting louder, "you can't be there for a kid Alex! You're job requires being away from home! And there is no way in Hell that you're just going to hook up with my sister and dump her when she's too pregnant or with a kid!"
"You really think i would do that?" I watch as Alex gets up closer to Matt and makes an aggressive stance. Oh fuck. "You seriously think that I'm such an Asshole as to do something like that? Fuck you!" And that was when Matt lost it. He pushed himself off of the counter he was leaning against and grabbed Alex's shoulder pulling Alex in as he underhand punched Alex right in the gut, I watch as my friend doubles over in pain. I start to step forward but he holds his hand out to stop me. Matt steps back looking down at him and Alex catches his breath recovering from the punch.
"You don't fuck with my sister." Matt hisses, Alex charges Matt and makes a swing for his floating ribs which Matt takes and immediately responds to with a well aimed punch to Alex's jaw.
"You fuck!" Alex shouts and goes for Matt's face but Matt manages to dodge the blow and put himself in the way of a punch to his shoulder. Out of the corner of my eye I see Rina in the hall with a worried look on her face, i turn to her and wrap an arm around her waist just as she goes in to try to break it up.
"Matthew stop!" She screeches and starts to hit my back to free herself. All I hear from the fight behind me is a series of profanities and the occasional sound of hardware being bumped over. I lift Rina off the ground and she starts to kick my shins I manage to pull her out of the room.
"Rina! Stop they need to do this on their own." I shout at her
"MATTHEW STOP HITTING HIM!" She screams, I throw her over my shoulder and hold her legs down as I make my way up the stairs and into her room where I drop her on the bed.
"Jesus! Calm it." I snap at her, she's sprawled across the bed and looks up at me, shocked. I pull out my phone and hit 3 he answers after the second ring.
"Hello?"
"Hey Zack I need you and Rian to get over here. Alex and Matt are on the ground."
"I'm on my way." I hear him sigh and the call dies. Rina has managed to curl up in a ball on the bed.
"They need to fight this out. Otherwise there won't be an end to it." I sigh and look out the door. The last fight these two got in lasted like a half hour somehow. They're pretty evenly matched. Zack'll get over here from his cousins in like three minutes if he leaves right away. Rian maybe in ten. I contemplate calling Vinny but I don't particularly trust him or anybody else really. Not with this kind of thing. Rian and Zack are good peace-makers. A few minutes later I hear Zack.
"What the hell!" I jog downstairs with Rina on my heels by the time we reach the kitchen Zack has them both by their collars and is holding them apart with a little struggle but they both obediently keep their distance.
