Anything But Ordinary

Alex and I were at Jack's, the last person to deliver chocolate to. He let us in, questioning us about what was in the bag. I smiled and took the chocolate out of the bag, handing it to him. He accepted it, looking at the front of it in confusion.

"What- holy shit! You're having a girl!?" Jack asked, looking at me incredulously. I nodded in excitement.

"Oh my gosh! Claire that's awesome!" Jack exclaimed, grabbing me and pulling me into a hug. I hugged him back happily, squeezing him tightly.

"Thanks," I laughed, stepping back next to Alex, who wrapped an arm around me.

"Do you guys want to stay for dinner? I got cancelled on..." Jack admitted, gesturing to the food that was on the stove.

"Aww! You met a girl and she bailed!?" I asked. He nodded.

"That's rough, man. I'm sorry. But we can't stay. We actually planned a night tonight on the way over," Alex said. Jack slumped his shoulders.

"Nah it's cool. I'll eat it. But hopefully next time she'll show. I really like her, and I want you guys to meet her," Jack said. I smiled.

"That would be awesome, Jack. Let us know when, but we've gotta go," I told him. Jack nodded, giving me one last hug, and Alex and I departed.

We returned home, and Alex pulled me into the living room.

"I'm gonna make you dinner, and we can start to discuss baby names. Sound good?" Alex asked softly. I smiled.

"Sounds wonderful," I said, kissing him softly. He left for the kitchen, and I sat down on the couch, flicking the tv on. I surfed the channels for a while, trying to find something good to watch, but luck was not on my side. I sighed and turned the television off, deciding to join Alex in the kitchen. He was leaning against a counter, staring at his phone.

"Hey baby," I chirped happily. He smiled.

"Hey," he said while pocketing his phone. I smiled and approached him, allowing him to kiss me before lifting me up and setting me on the counter he had been leaning against. He pecked my lips before checking on our dinner.

"I was talking to Jack," Alex said. I hummed.

"Yeah? About what?" I asked.

"His girl. Told me her name is Sarah," Alex said, turning back to me. I smiled.

"That's cute," I said. Alex hummed.
"So, what's your favorite name for a baby girl?" Alex asked me, a cheeky smile on his face.

"There's a lot of cute names. Lily?" I asked.

"Lily Barakat-Gaskarth?" Alex asked me. I made a face.

"No.. doesn't sound right. Kylee?" I suggested.

"No... we can discuss it more later. Right now, dinner's ready, so let's eat," Alex said. I smiled as he dished our dinner out on two plates. He walked over to me, placing his hands on my belly, and he lifted my shirt up a little bit, placing a soft kiss on my belly before handing me my plate. We ate in silence, not bothering to walk over to the dining table.

After we were both done, Alex took my plate and set it in the sink along with his. He then helped me off of the counter, kissing me.

"It's still early. Wanna watch a movie?" He asked. I smiled.

"Sure. What cha got in mind, Gaskarth?" I asked. He smirked.

"Nothing," he told me, and he skipped away into the living room, leaving me by myself in the kitchen. I walked over to the fridge and I opened the freezer, grabbing some ice cream and two spoons from the silverware drawer. I headed out to the living room, sitting on the couch while Alex set up the movie. Once he got it set up, he joined me on the couch and took a spoon from me while I opened the ice cream.

After the moviended, I got up and headed to the bathroom. I went to do my business, and was shocked to find blood in my underwear. Was this normal? I did my business, put a pad on, and I washed my hands before leaving.

"Alex. Alex take me to the hospital," I told him. He looked at me incredulously.

"Why?" He asked.

"Alex, I'm bleeding," I said. He dropped his phone before picking it back up and grabbing a jacket for me. He handed it to me, and scrambled to grab his car keys. He pulled me along with him out to the car, and I got in the passenger seat as a ripple of pain flared through my uterus. It was like ten times worse than period cramps. I cried out, not sure what was going on, but all I knew was that I was terrified.

Alex peeled out of the driveway, allowing me to grip his hand the whole way to the hospital.

"The baby can't be coming it's too soon!" I exclaimed. Alex didn't say anything. Just focused on his driving.

When we arrived, I was a total train wreck. Alex lifted me out of my seat and carried me inside. I immediately had a few nurses on me, asking me what was wrong.

"We don't know what's wrong," Alex answered for me. I was placed in a wheel chair, and I was wheeled to the delivery rooms in the maternal ward. When I got a room, I was forced out of my clothes and into a hospital gown. Then, I was to lie on the bed as I got an IV stuck in my arm. The pain kept coming and going, and I was becoming aware of the situation. However, I wasn't sure if Alex was. My doctor entered the room, and she looked me in the eye.

"Right. Miss Barakat.. get ready to push," she said.

"Why!? Why is she pushing?" Alex asked, gripping my hand.

"Miss Barakat is having a miscarriage," my doctor informed him. I met Alex's eyes, and he just stared at me sadly.

"Oh, God," he muttered. That was enough to make me start crying as I was told to push.

After I pushed out the after birth, I was cleaned up and allowed to rest as they took my dead baby girl away. I was in pain, and I was crying while Alex held my hand and comforted me.
