Anything But Ordinary

Wishing on a star that's just a satellite.

~Two Months Later~

Today marked my third month of being pregnant, and I had an appointment with my doctor to find out the gender at the end of the month. It seemed time was slowly ticking by, and it seemed the twenty-seventh couldn't come fast enough. I was so excited to find out the gender!

~Two Weeks Later~

"Alex," I said.

"What?" He asked, looking up from his phone. We were in the sonogram room to find out the gender, and I was kind of nervous.

"Could you hold my hand?" I asked. Alex smiled softly, and he laced his fingers through mine, somehow easing my nerves just slightly. My doctor entered the room, bright smile across her face as she shut the door behind herself.

"Hello, Claire. Alex," she addressed us, shaking each of our hands. I smiled at her.

"Are you two excited?" She asked as she set everything up.

"Yeah. A little nervous as well," I replied.

"Almost everybody is. Don't worry. Everything is going to be fine. Okay," she muttered, and she quickly started the process, looking at nothing but the screen the entire time. Meanwhile, I was squeezing Alex's hand while we waited for the result.

"Here we are, Miss Barakat!" She exclaimed, turning the screen so both Alex and I could see.

"Congratulations, you two. You're having a girl." I looked at Alex and smiled wide, pressing my lips against his happily.

"It's a girl," I said softly, pecking his lips once more before turning to look at my doctor.

"Would you like me to print these out for you?" She asked, and I nodded furiously. She quickly printed them, and handed them to me, and Alex and I both left.

When we were back in his car, I couldn't wipe the grin off of my face. I was too happy.

"I know this might sound crazy, but do you want to go tell Oli that he's having a baby?" Alex asked while he started up the car.

"Would you be okay with that?" I asked. Alex smiled.

"Of course. The visit doesn't have to be very long," Alex said. I smiled.

"Okay. But just know that I don't want you to refer to her as Oli's daughter. I want you to refer to her as your daughter. You're helping me raise her, you know," I said quietly. Alex looked totally happy as we left the doctor's office.

"Okay. Yeah, I can do that," he said, making a u-turn so we could head to the prison where Oli was located. I was kind of scared about what he could possibly say. I mean, telling someone they're going to be a father is huge news.

So, when Alex pulled into the parking lot, I almost wanted to tell him to turn around so we could get the Hell out of there and go home. But, I didn't. Instead, we entered the building and asked to speak with Oli. Soon enough, he was walking up to the window, and picking up the phone with a confused look etched onto his features.

"What are you doing here?" He asked rather harshly, "I thought you hated me."

"Oh. I do. I just thought I'd stop by and be a bearer of some news," I said with a shrug.

"And that is...?" He trailed off, telling me to go on.

"I'm pregnant," I said, "you're having a daughter." Oli looked extremely shocked.

"Are you sure it's mine?" He asked, wide-eyed.

"You're the only one to have sex with me since my ex, and even then, we never really did it," I said.

"Is there anything I can do? I mean.. how far along are you?" He asked. I looked over at the officer who was watching us, and he held up two of his fingers, telling me I had two minutes left.

"No there's nothing you can do. Alex is going to help me take care of her when she comes. And I'm three months and two weeks," I said. I hung up before he could say anything else, and I stood up and headed back over to Alex who took my hand and walked me out of there.

When we returned home, after buying enough Hershey's chocolate bars for my family and the band, Alex and I set to work coloring all the S's, H's, and E's on each. (Hershey's)

"Alright. Want to go deliver some chocolate?" I asked Alex who put them all in a plastic bag. He nodded and pressed a soft kiss upon my lips before we headed back out.

This would be fun.

Notes

Hello! So I stole the chocolate bar idea from my sister, because that's how she told my family she's having another boy. She colored the he in the middle of the word, and I seriously thought that was so frickin' cute.

I can't wait until my nephew comes in August! Hopefully I'm not as awkward with him as I was with the first one haha.

Enjoy!! <3

Aw, figuring out baby names. Hmm... I'm pretty tired right now so I can't really give any good suggestions, lol, but I'm sure you'll come up with something. Or if you really do need suggestions, let me know; I'll try and give some when I'm less tired maybe, lol.
But great job with the update! :)
