I can't just enjoy my wine

*Thursday*
Hanna closes the door in my face, her expression was hurt. It looked like she was trying to hide the fact that she had a thumbtack in her shoe time.
Dammit Matthew. What the hell did you just do? I know for sure Alex Is going to give me all the shit he can about this whole thing, and if Jack sees her like that, he's been talking about her like she's his little sister. No normal would let his little sister get hurt and not do anything. You've been thinking about this girl for months. I groan and slide down the door sitting on the floor in the hall. I can hear the soft murmer of voices in the room behind me and eventually a door slam shut.
Dragging myself my feet I test the door handle to Alex's door, it swings open easily directly into the kitchen. I smile to myself when I see the open bottle of wine on the counter. I take a seat on the granite island counter and snatch the bottle, lifting it to my lips throwing back as much as I can.
"What the hell are you doing?" I turn slowly to see Alex standing in the doorway looking disappointed in me. "We both know that no matter how much you hate to admit it you like this girl. You seriously, didn't even turn her down, you just told her it wasn't going to happen?" I sigh and look down setting the bottle down next to me.
"You know it was the right desition." I spit angrily, I know I'm not upset with Alex. This whole thing is my problem,
"You obviously don't think so. Look at you, you're drinking wine out of the bottle and you haven't even dealt with your stupid move for an hour." Alex walks over as he rants snatching the bottle out of my hand.
"Come on Alex. Just let me deal." I groan and rub my head, "she and I couldn't have ever been a thing. She's young and has energy to do whatever she wants. Alex, she's not even out of high school." He watches me with a blank expression on his face.
"So what? You're still young. You are the one who got her herein the first place." He leans against the counter across from me. "Look, as your friends we are going to dig you guys out of your idiocy. Rian and Zack are on their way up. So is jack but he's going to be working with the female." I raise an eyebrow at him
"Alex what are you doing?" I groan
"Saving your lazy ass." He snaps at me irritated. I sigh and slide down off the counter to sit in one of the chairs, I have a slight view of Jacks living room. Alex bustles around busying himself while we wait. I hear and see Jack first, I only get a glimpse of him though, he knocks on Hanna's door,
"Hanna it's me. Jack, I need to get in." All I hear of her response is a quiet murmer, "you are in my home Hanna. Come on." His voice starts to grow sounding more desperate, "just let me in Hanna. I want to talk. Nothing more... Unless you need a hug." I hear a soft click,
"Hey Jack." Her voice is light but she's obviously upset.
"Come on. Lets go in there. Get us some privacy." Another click. Alex walks over and closes the door between the two apartments and Rian and Zack push in the door.
"Matt." Rian speaks first, "explain."
"What do you want to know?" I sigh
"Everything." Zack smiles at me trying to be supportive. I sigh and start to explain the whole thing,
"We were in Rians apartment and I offered to take her to grab a bite, we got there and she asked about how Alex and jack have been dropping hints on my feelings for her, I told her that I didn't think we could be in a relationship because I'm her boss." I sigh and close my eyes realizing how stupid I sound and feel.
"Okay," Rian nods and hops up to sit on the counter, "that's not terrible. We can fix this." Alex nods in agreement.
"But that still poses the question, what do we do?" Alex raises his eyebrows.
"Nothing." I cut in "you guys I really appreciate this and all but I just don't want to do this right now. I'm not ready and if I do try to get her, I want it to be on my own accord." I sigh and stand up to walk out of the apartment.
