Crab shack

*August 8, 2013*
*Thursday*

I sit on the couch in Rian’s apartment. Hanna lays down next to me with her feet in my lap, I have my eyes glued to the screen. We just got designs for T-Shirts for the next tour. I look down at Hanna who is watching me with a wide grin on her face.
“What?” I laugh at her,
“You have a work face.” She giggles and try’s to stop smiling so widely,
“What?” I chuckle confused as to what that means,
“When you’re focused you pucker your lips and furrow your eyebrows.” She smirks up at me. I turn off my Ipad and set it down on the coffee table in front of me.
“Is that a bad thing?” I raise an eyebrow at her, she mimics me with a smile.
“Not really. Its just funny.” She cocks her head to the side.
“I think you’re jus getting really bored.” That makes sense? She’s been inside for too long now the stupid things are becoming funny.
“Nope.” She relaxes back into the couch, “I am a proud introvert and can stay indoors for three days straight no problem.”
“Then maybe we should fix that.” I push her feet off my lap, an idea forming in my mind. “Ever since you’ve been here in Baltimore you haven’t been anywhere but here and the bus.” I push her feet off my lap and stand up. “Lets go grab something to eat while all the guys are at the recording studio.”
“Think that’s a good idea?” she looks up at me quizzically and slowly starts to pull herself to a sitting position.
“Of course it is. You haven’t been to Baltimore until you’ve had some of the crab.” I hold a hand out to her.
“What if I don’t like crab?” She takes my hand and I pull her up to her feet.
“Then you will not be accepted to our crew. Crab is an important thing to all of us.” I give her my best smile,
“I guess we will have a problem then.” She laughs and drops my hand, I was kind of hoping she wouldn’t. I start out the door ahead of her to the elevator.
We make it to a small corner crab shack with a cheesy theme about it. We drove in my car, I just let Hanna play her music on our way there. She has an alright taste in music, I wouldn’t agree to all of it but the worst of her play list so far is tolerable. She steps out of the car and waits for me to show her into the restaurant.
I walk in ahead of her, a young attractive girl stands behind a small desk.
“Hello there. Table for two?” She smiles at me probably trying to be seductive.
“Yeah.” I nod at her and glance back at Hanna who stands close to my side almost protectively? I’m probably just imagining things. The girl stands up and shows us over to a booth in the corner.
“Jessica will be here to collect your order in a few minutes.” I watch her as she walks away.
“So.” Hanna opens her menu and looks up at me through her eyelashes.
“So.” I smirk at her and lean back in the booth across from her. “What’s been going on since your mom stole you from us?” She keeps her eyes off of me and looks in the menu.
“My mom went out more often, I took more classes online, including high school classes to graduate early.” She shrugs and flicks through the menu.
“That’s good then. I’ll be sure to give you some time in the day to focus on your classes.” I keep my eyes on her, only making eye contact when she dares to glance up and look at me. Am I intimidating her? Is she angry? “Hanna, I’m really sorry I didn’t talk to you that much when we were gone. And I don’t know if you even noticed it. But I guess I just want to say I missed you. And I’m so glad that you’re here now.” I speak quickly, embarrassed at what I’m saying and not sure if she’ll take it the right or wrong way.
“I did notice.” She looks up at me surprised by my outburst. “But I guess I understand why you were distant. Jack, kept me pretty informed.” She laughs and looks down blushing. “I want to get this from you, because I’m not sure how serious he was when he was saying these things.” Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. I watch her as she licks her bottom lip, still avoiding eye contact with me.
“You can ask or tell me anything.” I notice that I’m flicking my thumb on my first finger. Nervous tick, I just want it put on record I never said anything about liking her. I told Jack and Alex this word-for-word: ‘Hanna seems nice. I wouldn’t mind spending a lot of time with her.’ Ever since then they’ve all been giving me shit about it.
“Jack would just drop hints that maybe you…”
